Point 2: we relied heavily on the topic of romance in our opening scene and also tried to We wanted to achieve the effect that the fantasy/ horror side of the two movies. In order to get an opening sequence that builds tension, we slowed down some of the shots and put music in the back ground that would be slow enough to fit the pace of the opening sequence and fast enough to evoke the feeling of anticipation.
Point 1: reflects teenage movies Point 2: Teen protagonists will give the feel of a teenaged movie. Point 3: mixed ethnicity will attract a wide range of teenagers all different races and give the film a unique style and still produce something similar to professional films such as Easy A and Mean Girls.
Time: we kept to a specific time limit for each shot we do so we could use the playground when empty and full and have enough time to re-shoot anything we needed to.
TREADING SOFTLY – EVALUATION Flux Productions
BRIEF We were told to create an opening sequence for an original movie which lasts 2 – 3 minutes long. Theproduct must fall into the genre of Teen Drama or Teen Comedy with the targeting audience of teenagers.

CONVENTIONS Films we have been inspired by: Twilight Jennifer’s BodyWe have also used these as our case studies.
CONVENTIONS • Different from the two movies as we have steered towards the topic of love.• Tried to achieve the same effect of out audience as twilight and Jennifer’s body. • We have kept it professional by having less continuity errors and by building up tension.
CONVENTIONSWe have also challenged the conventions of a normal teen drama by: • not setting it in high school • Doesn’t have the latest pop music playing in the background • Attracts audience of both genders – Horror and Romance • Male lead dies at the beginning

DISTRIBUTORS Why? • British company • Backed up by Universal • Distributed many successful movies Why? • Famous Company • Distributed successful films such as the Harry Potter movies • Distributed many movies in the past
DISTRIBUTION – NATIONALLY OR INTERNATIONALLY? • If I were to distribute this film internationally I would use Warner Brothers.• I would like this film to be distributed nationally too however if the movie was released in the UK with not much back up by a bigger company it may not get a wide range of viewers. I would use Working title to distribute our film in the UK as it is a British and independent company.
WAYS OF DISTRIBUTION• I think the best way to distribute the film would be on the internet as its easy find out how popular a movie can get. • there are also disadvantages to internet distribution such as piracy.
DEMOGRAPHICS • Our production will involve a group of teenagers aged between 15 – 17. • The lead characters will be in the age gap to attract the attention of similar age groups • Cast of mixed genders and ethnicity • May attract more female audience but will also attract males due to elements of horror

QUALITY (IMPROVED)• Edited out/ worked around any unwanted footage (shaky or too fast footage) • Used more than one angle to select appropriate ones and reshot any other scenes that we needed to improve on • Music – royalty free
ROUGH CUT 1Link to the first Rough cut Rough cut 1
AUDIENCE FEEDBACK ON ROUGH CUT Things to improve:- story was unclear, need a shot of the boy dead on the floor before flashback - sound track to match the scenario throughout the opening. Good things: - The shots are good. steady shot was shot well. - Good use of teenagers for a teenage movie opening - Good use of colour grading, looks a lot like professional films such as Twilight.
