2. Name of artist
This is one of the main features of an advert for a digipak, most times it is the
main text which stands out on the page and it is used to catch the attention of
audiences and also promote the digipak.
3. Album single/name
This is why it is very useful to have an advert so that the audience are aware of
what the album is called. It can also be used to show what the genre of the album
is and in turn this could appeal to new audiences.
4. Release date
Most times the release date is on the advert, but if the album is already out the
phrase ‘out now’ will be written on it. It allows the audience to know when they
can purchase the album. It also gives a personal touch and encourages fans and
new listeners to buy it
5. Review/Rating
These are very common on the adverts for digipaks and they are used to
encourage people to purchase an album with good ratings an reviews. This isn’t
common with all genres but mostly with pop albums. Majority of the time the
reviews are positive otherwise people may not buy it if the ratings are low.
6. Where to buy…
There are different retailers for the sale of music for example HMW are known for
selling all different forms of media. They made over £1000 mill in 2009 and it was
mostly on the sale of music. A lot of adverts include them HMV logo if they are
selling the product.
7. Tour dates
This isn’t included on the poster all the time but sometimes it can be used to
promote an album mostly if it is based on a specific album and it helps promote
the album and let the real fans know when the artist is on tour.
8. Example
Jessie J is placed in the centre of
the digipak advert as she is the
main focus of the media text as
the purpose to promote her
album. This makes it clear to the
audience who Jessie J is. She is
looking towards the centre of
the camera to show off her
confident and fierce personality.
This also links to her style as she
has a unique style that makes
her stand out from other artists
They let the audience know
that this is her debut album
by the statement that
includes a number 1
international single. This
shows that she has rose to
fame at a rapid pace as she
has managed to get a
number one even before she
had released the album.
There is a consistent colour theme
throughout the digipak with black
and gold being the primary colours.
These colours are a good colour
scheme because gold is often
associated with things being luxury
while black can be associated with
sexiness. This is why Jessie J is
styled in all black as they try to
make her sexually appealing
towards the audience, also her
name is written in gold to highlight
that she is an elite artist.
The logo of the music brands are shown
on the advert as they were responsible
for the production of the album itself as
we see ‘Universal Republic’ in the
corner. This allows the record label to
get some limelight from their artist
which can raise their profile with her
fans.
