2. Who?
• Our music video will have 2 main characters, a boy aged 18 and a girl the
same age.
• These characters will both be typical 18 year olds are they both socialise and
fit all the typical characteristics.
• These characters will both be in the C1 and C2 classes and will both be
working at a reasonable income.
3. How?
• As our characters are 18 years old, they will both follow typical teenage
trends of clothing and things the do/own.
• The clothing will be near the latest fashion similar to a typical 18 year old,
this will be shown throughout the music video as they both wear trendy
clothes.
• They will both have iPhones which is now very common to have a
smartphone for teenagers, also they are in a serious relationship which is
also typical for teenagers.
4. Conventional Representations
• We will show this by using a variety of shots when the couple are together (e.g.
long shots to show them together, tracking shots to follow their relationship)
• When they are together the mise-en-scene will be more interesting as their
relationship is good so the mise-en-scene will help show their happiness. (e.g.
Clifton, Ashton Court)
• When the couple are together, we will use a variety of different speeds to our shots.
(fast forward to show chemistry and comfort, slow motion to show emotions and
happiness).
5. RepresentationsThat Challenge
Stereotypes
• We will use more close ups of the characters to show that they are alone and it
brings out their emotions. Also slow plans will add a more emotional effect to the
video as slow camera movement normally indicates sadness. These challenge the
stereotypes of teenagers in happy relationships as it shows them being apart and
sad.
• The mise-en-scene when the couple are alone will be much more plain and boring
which will link with how the are feeling and it will show emotions without having to
see the actual characters. This challenges the stereotypes as again it shows them
being sad in their relationships.
• We will use reverse speed to show how the boy/girl is just repeating their lives in
this relationship by just going around in circles with the other person. This will also
challenge their stereotype because again their relationship seems to be falling
apart.
6. Positive and Negative
Representations
• Positive representations could be shown by shots of them together and when they
are on their own still acting like typical 18 year olds.
• However, negative representations could be shown by them acting very lonely on
their own because stereotypical 18 year olds would move on with their lives
however these characters will be shown being very upset and broken.
• These representations will appeal to our target audience as they could relate to the
music video and the negative representations could make it more interesting to
watch.
