1. Idea 1…
My first idea for my music video, is to do a black and white video. As it is quite a slow
song I planned on not using a lot of edits and using the camera to follow the main
protagonist around certain aspects of his life…
• Work
• Social life
• Family
• Friends
Although the audience can see that he is quite well off in his life and has a successful
job and supportive family and friends, they can also tell that he is not happy with his
life.
We found out later in the video that he lost the one he loved when he went away to
university, and has never been happy since then, he just goes through the motions of
life, lonely and unhappy, and feeling like there is nothing he can do to change the
situation he is in.
2. Idea 2…
The second idea I had was to follow a couple that are clearly having problems in their
relationship. In the shots we see they are hostile to each other, and every now and
then we see them having arguments and one of them storms out.
Throughout the video as the couple are separated we see flashbacks of the couple a
few months ago, and although the audience never find out what it was that caused the
problems in their relationship we see them at a happier time. In terms of mise-enscene, the flashbacks will be quite light, with the actors wearing bright clothing, then
when we are in ‘real’ time the lighting is dark and dingy, and the characters will be
wearing dark clothes- to help connote how happy they were before compared to how
they are now.
3. Idea 3…
The third idea I had for my music video was to do an abstract video, with lots of
different shots and characters in different locations/costumes with different
storylines and merge them together. Some will be happy couples, others fighting,
others single, but the video will just follow them through their lives and how they are
happy with the way things are, perhaps because they all know it will work out in the
end.
The video will follow them as they are doing normal, everyday things such as being at
work, out with their friends and other activities- this means the audience can relate to
them because it is things that they would be doing as well, as my target audience is
quite young they may also be able to relate to issues that are raised in the video such
as struggles in relationships or stressful times with work/college and finding the
balance between things in their lives.
