1. A2 Media Studies:
Cinematography
So for this exercise we had to experiment using
different types of shots, the four shots we had to do
were a tracking shot, Tilting shot, Table dolly (mid
shot) and create a vanishing point using a long shot
of corridor.
2. Tracking Shot: creating suspense by following someone from
behind, creating suspense and an enigma as we don't know
what's behind them.
3. Tilting Shot: Here we started from a low angle so the person looks tall and
powerful and then slowly raised and tilted the camera up over someone's
head into a high angle shot creating an effect that the person is shorter or
vulnerable as the camera is looking down on them.
4. Mid Shot - Table Dolly: Here we used a table dolly to track someone on the
phone, we done this as a medium shot.
As you can see we experimented and done a shot on a straight line and then adjusted the
table dolly so that it was on an angle and it would go around and allow the viewer to get a
clear shot of what is going on in the image.
5. Long shot of corridor - creating a vanishing point: Here we used a long shot of a
long corridor, we had a foreground (someone walking towards the camera) and
then a mid ground (someone standing far away from camera) this makes its 3D
and creates an illusion that the mid ground is very far away from the camera,
creating a vanishing point (like the corridor is never ending)
This shot is normally used to create an idea that the character is lonely and makes it seems like they aren't safe.
