BLANCA MARQUEZ
HIST 1161-301
The American Revolution was fought from 1775 to 1783 between Great

in Parliament and demanding the same rights as the British citizens.
Meeting about the injustice of Britain
• A group of delegates met in
Philadelphia in September 1774
• GeorgeWashington, John,
Samuel Adams, Patrick Henry,
and John Jay assisted the
meting.
• Meeting was about their
grievances against the British
Crown.

• Make alliance with Britain's enemy ( France)
British Strategy:
• Break the colonies in half by between the colonists who were
against them or with them
• Block the Ports to prevent flow of goods and supplies from allies
• Divide and conquer and use loyalists
Alleys of the American Revolution
Colonists allies were the French after wining against the French in the Battle
of Saratoga
• They assisted them in battle, supplies needed and uniforms
• They decided to join them because Britain was their rival
British allies were the Germans who had been assisting them in their battles.
The British promised slaves from the colonies that ,if they joined with them in
battle they would be granted liberty.
• Not with a strong will to help them but assisted them in battles against the
colonists
Battles of the American Revolution that were
victories to the Colonists
• The Battle of Lexington started the American Revolution against the British.
The thirteenth colonies called their militias and send troops to besiege
Boston.
• The Battle of Bunker Hill was under the command of General Washington
and was able force the British to evacuate Boston.
• The Battle of MonmouthWashington took his army to New Jersey near
Monmouth and ended the battle with the British in a draw.
• Battle of Saratoga was a victory to the Colonists against the British and
made the French want to join them in the American Revolution as an alley.
• Battle ofYorktown was the ending of the American Revolution and was the
American Independence from the British ending with theTreaty of Paris.
TheTreaty of Paris stated the end of the war and stated the thirteenth
colonies Independence from Britain.
Who were the colonists that
fought in the American
Revolution?
• Patriots
• Whigs
• Congress men
At the American Revolution the colonists would carry a
war flag with them in their battles against the British.
How did the American Revolution ended?
The American Revolution ended by wining the battle of
Yorktown against the British. The British were defeated and
signed theTreaty of Paris.
TheTreaty of Paris was a document that proved the thirteenth
colonies gained their independence.
The thirteenth colonies overthrew their existing government
that was under the rule of the British.
What happened to the thirteenth colonies
after The American Revolution ended?
All the land of east of the Mississippi River and the south of the Great Lakes were part of the
thirteenth colonies.
The thirteenth colonies had to establish a new government and how the power of authority would
pay for the fines of the American Revolution to the soldiers, merchants, farmers, who accepted to
be paid until the new constitution was formed under new government.
War left a debt of $80 million in national debt
Everyone received a wartime certificate that would be paid until the national credit is established.
Effects of the American Revolution on the
Colonists
The American Revolution made the people realize that there was still a lot of
ramifications long into the future (us.history.org)
Liberty was gained but not for all the people that lived in the thirteenth colonies it
excluded slaves.
Some slaves in the North who fought along the side of the colonists in the
American Revolution were granted their freedom.
Now that theThirteenth colonies gained independence from Britain they had to
write down their own constitutions and it made the colonists fearful of having a
strong monarch liked they used to have under the British Crown.
Women wanted to have rights and wanted to be included in the new government.
Colonists wanted a fair government and wanted to have rights under the new
government.
Colonists had a hard financial status and it was part of the after effects of the
American Revolution.
Effects of the American Revolution on
Britain
British empire was a failure after their loss in the American Revolution
Britain was in debt and it increased crating a yearly interest of nearly ten million
pounds . Britain had to raise their taxes and their imports and exports were dropping.
Britain full of fear against anther revolution allowed Ireland to trade freely with British
colonies and freely export wool, and reformed the government by allowing non-
Anglicans to hold public offices ( thoughtco.com).
Citizens from Britain demanded a constitutional reform from the Britain Crown.
Britain lost the thirteenth colonies and only had Canada, land in the Caribbean, Africa
and India but started to expand those regions and was the beginning of the Second
British Empire.
The British was able to gain power again with those regions and became the largest
dominion in world history ( thoughtco.com)
