I think that if I were to interview a YouTuber who’s content is about urban legends
and creepypastas, then that would be the best option, as it would most relate to
my fanzine. I have many options for YouTubers who specialise in this sort of
content, but I have narrowed it down to three YouTubers that I think would be
best for the interview. The YouTubers I think would best suit the interview are:
CreepsMcPasta, Mr. Nightmare, and MrCreepyPasta. The reason for this is
because I have seen there videos before, and I know that there content relates to
that subject. If I don’t get a reply from these YouTubers I will just use the
interviews that I conduct with students at college. Currently I don’t know how
many interview I am going to conduct, but there will definitely be more than one,
as I want a range of opinions on the topic

6. Interview 1 – Fraser Hardwick (Student):
Q1. Do you have an interest in reading about urban legends and creepy pastas and why?
No because I don’t like reading
Q2. What do you think of the whole idea of urban legends and myths? do you believe that these stories are true?
I like them I think that when people make videos on them its quite funny and what people come up with is funny
Q3. If you were to choose your favorite creepy pasta, urban legend, or horror story what would it be and why?
GoatMan just because of the name
Q4. Do you think that reading to much horror stories and creepy pastas is bad for you, and why?
Yeah kind of you may feel a bit too attached and superstitious towards it so its not a good idea to look into them to
much.
Q5. What is the scariest urban legend that you have read or heard about, and why is this?
Probably Slender man because it was the 1st horror story that I learnt about at secondary school .
Q6. Do you think there is any general meaning behind urban legends, and why?
I think they are just a huge over reaction on something they saw and so many people believe it and it starts
effecting the people who knew it was fake.
Q7. What would you consider to be an urban legend?
Killer clowns, or if they have killed anyone.
7. Interview 2 – Louis Harman (Student):
Q1. Do you have an interest in reading about urban legends and creepy pastas and why?
Yes, I enjoy reading urban legends and creepy pastas as they come across as mysterious and engage my curiosity due to the fact with many of
them it can be hard to tell if there’s truth behind them or not. But also I love horror and anything that can scare me a bit and reading
something that sounds horrifying but could be real is the best way to do this I find, such as watching films with a true story.
Q2. What do you think of the whole idea of urban legends and myths? do you believe that these stories are true?
I do enjoy reading them however I typically struggle to find some true particularly those more like the creepy pastas that have come around
in more recent times due to the internet and online communities that generally don’t have any proof but people claiming it happened to
them and images, which to me is like believing the stories in the bible which in reality probably never happened, however urban legends that
follow crypto zoology or cryptids such as big foot and the Chupacabra seem more realistic to me being around for so long but also since
animals such as the giant squid which once was a myth is now a real thing.
Q3. If you were to choose your favorite creepy pasta, urban legend, or horror story what would it be and why?
I love reading horror stories and things that make you feel uneasy such as creepy pastas however urban legends but more the cryptids really
engage me as they come across more mythical and if they were to be real could be terrifying, plus there have been cases where they have
been proved true.
Q4. Do you think that reading to much horror stories and creepy pastas is bad for you, and why?
I don’t think that they are really bad for you unless they make it hard to sleep or you generally believe in them and live cautiously due to this,
but reading more real horror stories such as serial killers and horrific accidents I believe could in time be bad, as its something you may get to
involved in researching and depending on your mental state could in turn rub off on you even.
8. Interview 2 – Louis Harman (Student):
Q5. What is the scariest urban legend that you have read or heard about, and why is this?
To me the scariest urban legend is the “Russian sleep experiment” as this is one that sounds so realistic but also really in-
humane, going in to detail on the effects of the experiment and how the people were really no longer people by the end. This
is also things that could possibly go on un-known to the pubic on political prisoners or may have happened especially around
the time of the 2nd world war.
Q6. Do you think there is any general meaning behind urban legends, and why?
I believe that there is a chance that these are made to make people cautious of certain things such as the Kraken was a myth
made to make sailors stay clear of stormy waters for safety, but also they are more likely made for fun and also for
recognition.
Q7. What would you consider to be an urban legend?
Something that could or could not be true but also gains recognition through fear, and has a typical horror feel to it.
9. Interview 3 – Kieran Bradley (Student):
Q1. Do you have an interest in reading about urban legends and creepy pastas and why?
I don't really know what creepy pasta is, I'm aware of what an urban legend is but no, they do not interest me.
Q2. What do you think of the whole idea of urban legends and myths? do you believe that these stories are true?
I don't believe they are true, I think it's a bad in some ways, because your teaching children things that aren't true and basically
lying to them. The only expiation is Father Christmas because that has a positive message behind it.
Q3. If you were to choose your favorite creepy pasta, urban legend, or horror story what would it be and why?
I don't know any sorry.
Q4. Do you think that reading to much horror stories and creepy pastas is bad for you, and why?
I imagine so yes, because I guess they are of negative emotion.
Q5. What is the scariest urban legend that you have read or heard about, and why is this?
I haven't heard any, I'm afraid.
Q6. Do you think there is any general meaning behind urban legends, and why?
I think Urban legends are used as part of a tradition and therefore are meant to be carried down.
Q7. What would you consider to be an urban legend?
I'm not quite sure to be honest.
10. I decided to conduct four interviews all together, as one of the people that I want to
interview may not get back to me. Therefore, to be safe I decided that I would create
two interviews with different questions relating to that person who is going to take part
in the interview. I chose to interview three students at College and a YouTuber who
makes videos on urban legends, creepy pastas, and horror stories. From seeing some of
his videos, I decided that he would be a good person to interview for my horror story
fanzine. However, I also wanted some students from college to answer to know their
opinion on the matter. The reason I have decided to interview three students, is so that I
get a wide variety of answers that I can compare to one another.
11. Interview analysis
The answers that I gathered from conducting my interviews vary from interviewee. Two of the interviews that I conducted didn’t know much
about urban legends or creepypastas, and their answers to my questions were not very detailed, they were very brief. However, one of the
interviews was very detailed, and this is the interview that I will be using in my fanzine. If I do need to fill more space in my fanzine I will use
one of the other two remaining interviews but they are not very detailed and are very brief with there answers. The second student interview
I conducted, I interviewed Louis Harman. I felt that he knew a lot about the topic, his answers were more detailed. Therefore, his interview
will be my main interview that I will use in my fanzine. The YouTubers that I tried to interview didn’t respond to me, so I won’t be having any
interviews from them in my fanzine.
13. In my fanzine I will be writing a small article on creepy real world locations. Below I am going to write the draft of
it.
There are many locations in this world that are strange, and creepy places such as Chernobyl. The abandoned city in Ukraine, that was
desolated by a catastrophic nuclear accident, and now is abandoned due to it being a dangerous radiation hotspot. It now looks like a post-
apocalyptic city. However, there are many more creepy locations around the world if not more strange and creepy than Chernobyl. One of the
creepy locations is the island of malformed dolls, in Mexico city. This island is uninhabited, however it has hundreds of dolls hanging from
trees. Apparently each of the dolls supposedly appeases the spirits of the dead. The former caretaker of the island said he started stringing up
the dolls decades ago after finding a young girl drowned in the river. Though none of the caretakers family said this little girl ever existed. In
2001 the caretaker, Don Julian Santana turned up dead lying facedown in the river. Another location that may sound more familiar after the
YouTube trend of visiting this forest, is the Aokigahara forest also known as Japan’s suicide forest. This forest is a dense, but lush forest full of
green leaves that cover the forest. It is known for being the biggest site of suicides in the world. Every year, dozens of bodies turn up in the
woods, most hanging from the trees. There are signs around the outskirts of the forest telling people not to do it and think of your loved
ones. However, despite the signs bodies still turn up. Another location is the Dadipark in Dadizel, Belgium. This was an amusement park that
closed its door in 2002. This was due to a tragic incident, where a young boy lost his arm in 2000. The park stopped attracting visitors after the
incident and finally ended up closing its gate forever. The park is now abandoned, and the silence that exists there makes the park even
scarier. A place that may not sound as creepy or scary as the other locations, but strange things have happened here such as helicopters flying
above the mine-hole and being sucked into it. This place is Mirny diamond mine, in Eastern Siberia, Russia. The mine is closed now, but no
one has yet been able to explain why helicopters get sucked into the mine-hole. Another creepy, abandoned location is the Czestochowa train
depot, in Poland. Creepy yet a perfect location to take pictures of as its overgrown. No one knows why this train depot was shut down all of a
sudden, but its buildings and rusting railway tracks, decaying coaches and engines, prove that once a long time ago this train depot was a busy
one. However, the overgrown and rusting, decaying feeling gives the station a creepy vibe.
Above is the draft that I have wrote so that I can easily copy and paste it into my fanzine. I have gone through it a few times checking for
spelling mistakes, and sentences that don’t make sense, proof-reading it. This will be on one of the double-page spread pages instead of
filling the entire fanzine with horror stories. This makes the fanzine vary with content.
14. A creepypasta is a horror story in which is passed around on forums, threads,
and other websites to disturb and scare readers. The term ”Creepypasta”
comes from the word “copypasta”, which is an internet slang word used for
text that gets copied and pasted over and over again across the internet, from
website to website.
My definition of creepy pasta - draft
15. I researched the definition of creepy pasta,
using Wikipedia to find out what they meant.
I did this because I wanted to know if creepy
pastas were stories made up by fans of urban
legend stories. Or if they were based off true
stories. I also just wanted to find out the
general definition of a creepypasta so that
when I talk about a creepypasta, I know what
I am talking about.
