My First Car Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "My First Car" may initially seem like a straightforward task,
given the personal nature of the subject. However, delving into the intricacies of one's first car
experience requires a delicate balance of storytelling, reflection, and attention to detail. The
challenge lies in transforming a seemingly ordinary narrative into a compelling and engaging
piece of writing that captivates the reader's interest.
One might think that reminiscing about the excitement of acquiring a first car would naturally
flow onto paper, but the difficulty arises in avoiding clichГ©s and maintaining a unique
perspective. Describing the make and model of the car is just the tip of the iceberg; the true
essence lies in conveying the emotions, memories, and personal growth associated with this
significant milestone.
Moreover, striking the right balance between personal anecdotes and broader reflections can be
challenging. A successful essay on this topic requires careful consideration of the target audience,
ensuring that the narrative resonates not only with the writer but also with a diverse readership.
The writing process may involve revisiting old memories, sifting through a myriad of emotions,
and articulating them coherently. Choosing the right words to express the thrill of independence,
the challenges of maintenance, and the inevitable mishaps along the way requires a keen
understanding of storytelling techniques.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the topic of "My First Car" demands more than a mere
recollection of events; it necessitates the ability to weave a compelling narrative that transcends
the personal realm and connects with the universal experiences of readers. The difficulty lies not
only in recounting the story but in doing so in a way that leaves a lasting impression.
For those who find this task overwhelming or time-consuming, it's worth noting that assistance
is available. Similar essays and a variety of writing services can be accessed through platforms
like HelpWriting.net, where skilled writers can bring your ideas to life, ensuring a polished
and impactful essay that meets your specific requirements.

THE ARGUMENT
Many scientists over the years have debated about living life outside of our planet.
Many of the scientists who are on the side of that there other life keep bringing up
the story of God and Jesus, it is now proven that the world began due to the Big
Bang and not God they then say that most of the people who are rooting on the side
of that there is no outside life are still or maybe a little bit attached to the story of

nearest evolutionary relative, the chimpanzee, it s overwhelmingly improbable we
could do so with aliens, according to Dartnell.
Parallel universes
Is our universe unique? From science fiction to science fact, there is a proposal out
there that suggests that there could be other universes besides our own, where all the
choices you made in this life played out in alternate realities. So, instead of turning
down that job offer that took you from the United States to China, the alternate
universe would show the outcome if you decided to venture to Asia instead.
The idea is pervasive in comic books and movies. For example, in the 2009 Star
Trek reboot, the premise is that the Kirk and Spock portrayed by Chris Pine and
Zachary Quinto are in an alternate timeline apart from the William Shatner and
Leonard Nimoy versions of the characters.
The concept is known as a parallel universe, and is a facet of the astronomical theory
of the multiverse. There actually is quite a bit of evidence out there for a multiverse.
First, it is useful to understand how our universe is believed to have come to
Harry Potter s Life Has Been Influenced By The Choices
Of...
Since the beginning of the series, Harry Potter s life has been influenced by the
choices of Albus Dumbledore. Everything that has happened to Harry has occurred
because of Dumbledore, but does that make him purely Dumbledore s boy or is he
his own person with agency to do as he wants? After Voldemort murdered Harry s
parents, Dumbledore decided to bring baby Harry to his aunt and uncles because
they re the only family he has left now, and he feels it s the best place for him
(Sorcerer s Stone). Dumbledore is the one that decided to send him to his relatives
that underfed him, gave him only a closet, hand me down clothes, become their
servant, and be bullied by his cousin Dudley. Later we learn Dumbledore sent him
there because of the protection of his family since his aunt was his mother s sister.
The protection meant if Voldemort came back and tried to attack Harry in his aunt
and uncle s home he wouldn t be able to touch Harry there, but that doesn t justify
the actions of his aunt and uncle. For eleven years, Harry was left in the dark
about his parents and magic. Dumbledore was the first person to ever show Harry
any sort of positive emotion or caring attribute, which could lead to Harry
becoming the servant of Dumbledore. In the Sorcerer s stone, Dumbledore gave
Harry the invisibility cloak. He left it with a note saying, your father left this in my
possession before he died. Use it well (Sorcerer s Stone). Dumbledore giving Harry
the cloak is crucial to the
Perpetrator Vs Bystander
I agree with Miles Lehrman when he said that A perpetrator is not the most
dangerous enemy because they re not worse than the perpetrator who watched
everything that happened and didn t say anything it didn t want nothing to do
with what was going on. In my own opinion, I feel as that the person that watched
what happened which is the perpetrator is bad as the bystander because they could
do the same thing the bystander do. In addition, to what I was saying about
agreeing with miles Lehrman and saying that a perpetrator is worse than a
bystander here an example. For example, if you were robbing a bank and you took
some money and jewelry. When you would leave and be on a high speed chase there
going to have that one person that s going to

Kung By Richard Lee Summary
In the early 1960s Richard Lee did a study that will agues the ideas of the many
anthropologists on the !Kung and how they lived as foragers. Many anthropologists
thought the hunter gathers lived from hand to mouth. (Placeholder1). The Kung are a
group of hunter gathers who live in small groups, share all foodthey have gathered
with equal shares. They grather vegetables within a six mile radius of a watering
well they live by. A two to three day supply of dry meatand plants are on hand most
of the time. The !Kung do collect food every third to fourth day as an on going
process. Vegetable foods are collected by the women and men collect plants and
small animals.and hunt large game. The mongongo nut is a large part of their diet
about 50 %. In the dry season, and they will walk many miles to gather the nut.
Even when large game is not avaible the vegetable foods are, so they do not go

tables showing data from different times of the year to the types of food they ate, he
included the group sizes, work days. He collected data on many different subjects
and applied this to tables.

Stereotypes Of Women In Sports Essay
Every week, a new issue of Sports Illustrated magazine is distributed throughout the
world, showing a provocative image of a woman athlete, on the front cover or
inside, barely clothed, belittling a women s athletic ability in their professional
sport. In different aspects of the world today women are underrepresented such as
political positions, STEM and most importantly sports. Even though Title IX has
increased females participation in sports there is still a lack of support of women s
athletic events. The main focus of this review is to examine how women athletes are
portrayed in the media compared to men athletes.
People might not realize that the most important type of sports media is the coverage
of athletic events on television. Athletic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many athletes are stereotyped by gender because the commentators are the ones
speaking to the public while the public get familiarized to these stereotypes. Many
commentators comment very stereotypical comments but to the public it is not very
shocking due to the multitude of times it has occurred which they have grown
familiar to. One of such was by a commentator , Colin Murray said during the
Olympics that the ultimate athlete would have the stamina of Mo [Farah], the speed
of [Usain] Bolt, the leap of [Greg] Rutherford and the bottom of Jess Ennis
(Stanistreet). To a professional female athlete this was a very gender stereotyped
comment due to the fact that only one of the four athletes mentioned was a woman
and that the provocative part of the athlete, the butt, was given to a female athlete as
the ultimate athlete. Through a study on the NCAA National Championship Games
for men and women basketball, they have discovered that the commentators
constantly mark the women s game repeating phrases like, ...some of the best women
s college basketball teams.. , ...is a legend in women s basketball... , and ...this
NCAA women s semifinal is brought to you by ... (Messner and Duncan). The word
women was periodically brought up during the female championships, marking the
gender stereotype, but while the male championships
The War Of Vietnam War Essay
The way American wars have been fought and how the men and women fighting
those wars were affected have changed throughout the history of the United States.
Soldiers have gone from being treated as the lowest class of society all the way to
being the most respectable citizens in the country, with no linear progression leading
them to this recognition. Since the foundation of the United Statessoldiers have been
gaining more recognition for their sacrifices, with one major event standing out
from this trend. The war in Vietnam was different from all wars before it, in turn
causing Vietnam War veterans to be treated the worst of any soldiers previous. A
mix of several factors makes this clearly evident. Those stationed in Vietnam were
significantly less supported by the general population of the U.S than in any previous
war. The soldiers who did make it home did not receive the homecomings that the
older generations had; they were brought home to a country that disapproved of the
sacrifices these soldiers made.
The significant differences separating the service in the Vietnam War came before
the fighting, the problems began in the draft. The deferment process for previous
wars, such as World War II, were much less lenient on potential draftees. For
instance, there were absolutely no educational deferments (deferments for those
enrolled in a college as a full time student) given during World War II. James Wright
quotes Colonel Lewis Hershey, the deputy director of
The Law Is Made Under The First Amendment Of The
United...
I.Introduction In modern American society, there is little thought in how and why
the laws came to be. There is a natural assumption that the laws were made to
protect the people and society. The law is made under the First Amendment of the
Constitution of the United States which give the right to the people to seek its
government for redress of any grievances. Utilizing this right, it gives rise to new
laws to be enacted and old laws to be amended or repealed, in the ever developing
society. As the American society progresses, we become more acceptant to
compromise our core values. The value of speaking and writing has been reduced
to redundant, ambiguous and vague, incomplete thoughts. Our mannerisms are
guised and restricted to fit the occasion and are hardly rendered otherwise. And our
due diligence to prove and maintain our status in our sexual encounters are
becoming a requirement to endure in our daily lives, regardless of age.
Consequently, Americans and its society are evidently hypersexualized, accurately
stated within the book Sexidemic: A Cultural History of Sex in America
(Lawrence R. Samuel), [t]o say that sex plays a major role in everyday life in
America would be an understatement (particularly because it is the source of life
itself). Sexuality is a mainstay of American popular and consumer culture; the adage
sex sells is taken to heart by marketers of all kinds... Recreation too is heavily
steeped in sex, with millions of us spending inordinate
Rene Descartes Dreaming Argument Essay
Dreaming Argument
Dreaming is something we all are subject to. Every night when we lay down in our
beds we dream, now whether or not we can remember our dreams is a different
story. Dreams can be very realistic and they have been speculated and researched but
we know little about our dreams, what they mean, and the sensations or feelings they
provide for us. As far as we know dreaming is our unconscious mind acting out
desires, possibly because we cannot do them or experience those events in our
waking life. Since dreaming is so under researched and we know little about it, it
has been speculated by many people. Rene Descartes go in depth on this subject
and his ideas on what dreaming is arguing that we cannot distinguish the difference
between being awake and being asleep. That is a very bold statement and put in a
seemingly simplistic way, recorded in his first meditations. What Descartes does
is challenge our preconceived notions of dreaming and puts us in the frame of
mind to answer for ourselves if we are dreaming right now or are we actually
experiencing reality. Descartes makes us come face to face with the reality that we
actually don t know if we are dreaming. His claims that we may be dreaming is a
well known philosophical argument in the Western world and I hope to discover the
truth behind his argument and shed light on how I perceive his philosophy on the
dreaming world. I will shed light on this dream argument by interpreting what

The Breakfast Of Champions By Ray Bradbury
Since the last time I wrote a journal, I had just finished Joseph Heller s Catch 22.
Now, I started and finished Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451 and also started Kurt
Vonnegut s Breakfast of Champions. There are still sixty six pages remaining in
the novel. Fahrenheit 451 is about a man named Guy Montag living in a future in
which books are outlawed. Guy is a fireman whose job it is to burn all remaining
books currently located in his city. However, when Guy meets a strange girl living
outside of his apartment, he becomes intrigued with what books have the power to
do. Instead of following orders, Guy starts wondering why he is doing what he is
told to do rather than just doing what he is told. Breakfast of Champions is a science
fiction noveldescribing the lives of two strange men. One of these men is Kilgore
Trout, an unheard of novelist who will soon become one of the most famous men in
America. The other man in this story is Dwayne Hoover, a wealthy man who made
his fortune off of speculation on the stock market. Despite his luxurious home and
fantastic job, Dwayne will soon be appalled by Kilgore Trout s idea that everyone
around Dwayne is a robot. In both of these novels, change is an essential theme. In
Fahrenheit 451, focus will be brought on the change of the world in which Guy
resides, and also the change of Guy as a person, while in Breakfast of Champions,
the focus of change is how much America has changed since 1973. There once was a
time when reading was legal.
Narrative Essay About Mickey Mouse
I remember the event like it was yesterday; my heart was beating and I could hear
and feel it, I had determination on my face and in my mind and it felt good. My
determination was to beat my younger brother to the top of the tree in our side
yard. I almost never climb the trees in our yard for the fear of falling out; which
has happened before when we went apple picking which did not end well on my
part of climbing in those apple trees. But we were getting ready that nice sunny
morning in the summer. I remember the nice sunshine and heat on my face and the
cool winds coming from the East and it was just exhilarating. I told my brother
Michael I bet you five bucks you can t beat me to the top of that tree! pointing at one
in the yard. I knew he would do it because he would want the money and he always
wanted to one up me.
So we were setting up and talking smack to one another, names being changed to
something else although I deflected all of his I came up with the nickname of
Mickey Mouse. Funny thing is that nickname stuck around through that day and not
his real name Michael. So we are all prepared to do it and we are at the bottom of
the tree. I noticed that there was a cinder block at the bottom of the tree and I said
Mickey better not fall on that. . And that was a dumb thing to say as to I should
have just moved it so there was no possible way it could happen. But I was just a
fifth grader who did not think through things.
Michael said I don t need to worry about
Do Gods Appeal To Greek Gods
This quote is very introspective about deities. And it is true. Many gods in myths
and legends are not known to be kind. This is why people try to appeal to them in
sacrifices and offerings, fearing the gods wrath in the form of natural disasters and
sickness. The concept of deities was formed in order to explain unknown things, and
since people before could not predict natural disasters, they hoped that their worship
will stop the bad things from happening. Even now, people appeal to deities for good
fortune and to protect them, and many still fear punishment from their deities.
Many worshippers make sacrifices and offering to the gods. There are many religions
that call for human sacrifices, such as the Aztecs. Worshippers of Zeussacrificed

It is the leader s responsibility to keep the followers focused on the ultimate goal. Sir
Richard Branson could improve his leadership style by preparing for situations when
the mission of the company has become more or less than exciting.
Branson s Leadership in Space Tourism
One of the most exciting and innovative projects in the world today is global space
tourism. Fittingly, the Virgin Group is at the forefront of development in this
exciting new industry. Finding success in this highly unknown frontier will surely
require exceptional leadership skill and planning (Hawn 2006). Branson would
tackle this challenge by communicating his vision to his team and continually
reminding them of it throughout the duration of the project. He is the type of leader
that strives to bring his team members personal satisfaction from the success of a
project. Therefor, I believe he would make an effort to give strong positive
recognition to his followers as each major milestone in the project is reached.
Perhaps his most valuable leadership trait, Branson is excellent at communicating
his vision. A project like space tourism requires a clear and achievable vision,
because no other similar project has been successfully completed in the past. There is
no leadership precedent to draw upon, making this ambitious goal an exceptionally
challenging one. Branson will need to use his delegating skills to acquire the

Essay on Analysis of The Revolt of Mother
Analysis of The Revolt of Mother
The Revolt of Mother by Mary Wilkins Freeman, was a story of a woman who lived
in New England around or before the author s time. The mother, Sarah Penn, was kept
out of the families decisions by the father, Adoniram Penn, until one event that lead to
her taking drastic actions while her husband was gone. There are many religious
symbols and actions taken by Mother within the story. Through the story Sarah
moved from a feeling of servitude to her husband, to a feeling that she was in
servitude to the Lords will and this led her, in the end, to hold power over her
husband. The religious overtones start with the title of the story, The Revoltof Mother.

Sarah, on the other hand, is an interpreter of the Lords will.
Sarah comes to the conclusion that she is doing the Lords will when she declared
the new maxim for her self. She now believed that Unsolicited opportunities are the

unsolicited opportunity because she had nothing to do with Hiram sending notice

foresight. This foresight comes from her being a new spirit.
The sense that she is a new spirit is implied when she states, I ve let the fire go out

of her. The fire, which is a means of destruction and chaos, was burning up her

Shouldice Hospital had an excellent well developed, focused service delivery system.
The business strategy was to not only provide its patients with a quick, quality and
low cost surgery but also providing an unforgettable experience and comfortable
environment in the facility.
Operations Keys for successful business strategy:
Warm and friendly environment
1)Hospital is carpeted to get rid of the feel and helps in reduce disinfecting smell. The
objective is to have friendly environment that will help patient recuperate faster.
2)Patients are given rooms that they share with a roommate generally from a similar
professional background or shares similar hobbies. This encourages building of
partnerships and sharing of medical notes.
3)Patients are encouraged to enjoy their meals in the common cafeteria, so that they
get a chance to interact not only with other patients but also with other doctors.

1)Healthy people who are perceived to heal and recover faster are admitted to
hospital to keep the duration of the patient stays down. New patients are admitted
with a higher frequency rate.

Sexually Transmitted Disease, Gonorrhea
Gonorrhea is one of many highly contagious sexually transmitted infections caused by
the bacteria Neisseria gonorrhoeae, a gram negative intracellular diplococcus. These
infectious bacteria can spread through sexual contact and intercourse, as well as
transmission during childbirth from mother to fetus. This specific bacterium likes to
grow in warm, moist areas of the body. They can multiply very fast and infect the
mucous membranes. Gonorrhea is said to infect an approximate 820,000 people in
the United States annually. This genus is motile and can stick to surfaces and make it
easy to contract. This bacterium contains Opa proteins. Opa proteins in this genus
bind to receptors in the immune system. This action makes it possible to prevent an
immune response. The infection, N. gonorrhea is not able to develop memory cells
against its own kind, meaning it can alter the bodies response the next time around as
it was never treated or infected. This later makes it possible to infect the same person.
Gonorrhea can be caught through sexual contact and intercourse. Some forms of
transmission are vaginal intercourse, anal intercourse, as well as oral intercourse and
can sometimes infect the eyes. Not everyone experiences signs and symptoms of
gonorrhea, when infected or during the course of infection, therefore making the
chances of one knowing you have been infected rather difficult. This can potentially
lead to more serious effects such as infertility, pelvic inflammatory
General George Patton s Blood And Guts
General George Patton, also known as Blood and Guts , was and is known as one
of the best there was. Patton was a highly effective pioneer, advocate, and exponent
of modern mechanized warfare as well as doctrine of highly mobile offensive.
(Axelrod, 2006) The soldiers that served under Patton in the Third and Seventh
Army s knew him as a soldier s leader and took his death very hard. They considered
Patton one of the greatest men that ever lived. Patton professed to be a Christian and
was certain that God destined him to military greatness. (Axelrod, 2006) Patton was
an incredible leader to the third and seventh armies, yet he was continuously
threatened with being removed from command. He suffered from dyslexia, deep
depression, and episodes of hysteria which made his confidence levels close to zero.
Yet he led armies under him into victories that exuded confidence. There were
mothers that were terrified of Patton s tactics with their sons, but Dwight D.
Eisenhowerwas sure that those same tactics used by Patton would save those
soldier s lives. Patton was a strong leader that led by example. He fought with his
soldiers and was on the front line right beside them. When he spoke, he may have
been feared, but he was also respected. He was a man of his word. He put soldiers in
place that he knew would get the job done. He made sure his soldiers were always
on guard and ready to fire at all times when it was pertinent. He pushed himself and
his army to stay
John Locke And Rene Descartes
Philosophers are individuals who address critical analysis of fundamental
assumptions or beliefs with underlying theories of their own. John Locke and Rene
Descartes were both classified as modern philosophers in the seventeenth century who
sums up the subject about personal identity and its determents in reference to our
own existence, such as who are we? The personal identity theory states that the
philosophical confrontation with the ultimate questions of our own existence, such as
who are we, and is there life after death? This investigation of personal identity
specifies adequate circumstances for the identity of the person over the period of
time. In this assignment, these two philosophers will be introduced thoroughly with a
summary about each of them, their similarities and differences, and personal views
on which state that I would prefer.
John Locke (August 29, 1632 October 28, 1704) theory is that personal identity is a
matter of psychological continuity. He wrote an Essay Concerning Human
Understanding which he signifies in section 9 of personal identity and in section 10
of consciousness makes personal identity that personal identity is a matter of being
in the conscious state. He implied that if you remove something from the body, such
a finger or a leg. Even though it s not physically attached to the body anymore, that
doesn t change the personal identity of that person because that individual is still

NoteAbilityPro is a music notation software editor developed by Hamel. This
software was among the first ones to address the issue of easing the integration
between a musical score and a computational music framework [Hammel, 2006].
NoteabilityPro started as a flexible music notation editor and later the Integrated
Interactive Music Performance Environment module (IIMPE) was added to support
interactivity with Max/Msp (PureData).
NoteAbiltyPro communicates with Max/Msp(PureData) by sending messages, so
these messages are added by the user to the score in the NotabilityPro environment as
text messages and specifies the measure and beat location with text numbers. Figure

2.2.2Antescofo
Antescofo is a score following system that enables to code interactions between the
instrumental parts and the computer generated parts by providing a proprietary
programming language [Giavitto, Cont and Echeveste, 2015]. Antescofo stands for
anticipatory synchronization and control of interactive parameters in computer
music, and its core is a score following system based on Hidden Markov Models
(HMM) with some variants to be able to model time changes which are one of the
major drawbacks of the HMM algorithm.
The Antescofo score following core performs tracking of audio events and triggers
some customized actions written in a text based programming descriptor. In
Antescofo, the text based representation of computer generated events follows a
Score Language design pattern, which has a long tradition in computer music since
the debut of Mathews MUSIC N languages in the late 60 s [ Mathews, Miller, Moore,
Pierce, and Risset, 1969 ], but Antescofo extends the concept to a reactive language,
meaning that customized actions responds to events. The current Antescofo public
version runs as a patch extension of Max/Msp (or PureData).
Antescofo is an event based customizable score following, accordingly its most
important programming entities in Antescofo language are events and actions
[Giavitto, Cont and Echeveste, 2015]. Figure 6 shows a sample code in Antescofo

A Comparison of The Middle Ages vs. The Renaissance
Essay
The Middle Ages and Renaissance where worlds apart in every aspect of life. In
areas of art, tools such as perspective, realism, and individualism showed the great
leap in creativity during the Renaissance. Likewise, the worldly individual, or the
Renaissance Man , was an improvement over the ignorant, spiritual man of the
Middle Ages. Also, the revival of classical learning and education that occurred in the
Renaissancewas the exact opposite of the suppression of learning during the Middle
Ages. The amount of unique advances made in the Renaissance in all areas cannot be
paralleled by the progress set forth during the Middle Ages. The word Renaissance
itself means rebirth, or the start of something new. Thus, with all these great... Show

In architecture, technology such as Brunelleshi s dome and the use of Greek and
Roman pillars and columns revolutionized buildings. Despite all these
achievements, many people argue that the humanists were not cared about or
considered important and that masterpieces of Renaissance sculpture were not
widely seen or known (Document 3). This view is incorrect because the revival of
the classics and the wide use of all of the different artistic techniques during the
Renaissance such as realism and perspective were only possible because of the
ideas and artwork that pervaded Europe. For example, the Northern Renaissance
occurred partly because merchants bought art and books from Italian merchants
and spread it through northern Europe where countless people viewed it and began
creating similar paintings. Some major works such as the Sistine Chapel and St.
Peter s Basilica were in prominent places where many people would go to for
religious reasons, and thus, a great amount of people were exposed to the work as
well. In contrast to the Renaissance, during the Middle Ages there was no
perspective or dimension, the temper paint was dull and unimaginative, and there
was no realism or individualism. For example, the human body was distorted and
unrealistic because babies looked like little men, and there was no individualism
because religious and wealthy figures

Cognitive behavioral therapy teaches a child different way to behave. There is
scientific evidence that this form of therapy causes chemical reactions in the brain. A
person who uses this therapy will undergo chemical changes in the brain and feel
relief from their symptoms of OCD (Schwartz 1996). A child with OCD needs to

Analyzing Hayao Miyazaki s Coming Of Age Film
When reaching a certain age young adults are expected to leave home and venture
out into the world on their own. After living with family for so long, figuring out
what to do to be able adjust to the next stages of life becomes a difficult challenge.
Many young adults become thrilled at the idea of venturing out into the world and
not having parents telling them what to do. That is only the beginning of the journey.
The real question is how does leaving home affect a person psychologically.
Departing from home and going into an unfamiliar new side of the world is both
an exciting and stressful experience. In this paper I will talk about this topic using

Hedda Gabler Symbols
Objects in Hedda Gabler Henrik Ibsen showed Europe that theater could be more
than just spectacle, that it could be an art form addressing the most serious moral
and social questions of the time (Norton 778). In some of his works Ibsen attempted
to write modern versions of Greek tragedy. Of these, his play Hedda Gabler,
displaying the tragedy of modern middle class life, is the most compelling and
famous (Norton 780). In Hedda Gabler, Ibsen uses the household and its objects,
Mrs. Elvested s hair and manuscript written with Eilert LГёvorg, and the opening
and closing of curtains as symbolism in the play. Hedda Tesman s marriage to
George Tesman, a member of the lower middle class, has dragged her down from
her position in upper middle class society to a member of a lower class. Their
households and its objects are a never ending source of scorn for Hedda throughout
the play; Hedda despises those objects associated with Tesman and his class, and
she admires the remnants of her former life (Norton 780). At the beginning of the
play she examines her old piano and compares it to the other objects in the room: I
was just looking at my old piano. It really doesn t go with these other things (Ibsen
789). However, when Tesman suggests they trade it in for a better matching one, she
refuses to let it go and its connection to her former class. Even her house itself mocks
Hedda and her marriage: But it so happens that George Tesman and I found our

The Use of Coal as an Energy Source in the United States...
Energy from Coal: The Nation s Dirty Secret
Abstract
While technology has led the world into such an advanced setting with intelligent
machinery and automated devices, coal has remained a loyal contributor of the
energy needed by these various types of equipment to function properly. Almost half
of the electricity in the United States is produced in coal plants where coal is burnt to
produce this energy [1]. Both beneficial and detrimental factors come with this
alternative source of energy, known by the world for centuries.
Background Information
Even with the quantity of fossil fuels dwindling due to human consumption, coal has
remained one of the cheapest, reliable sources of electricity, natural gas, diesel fuel,
and steel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But there are also many detrimental factors as well, since the production of coal
results in air pollution, sulfur dioxide emission, carbon dioxide emission, acid
rain, and hazardous waste [4]. These environmental problems are due to both the
mining of coal and coal production plants. Many issues arise with the mining of
coal. Firstly, the safety of miners is put at risk as they descend hundreds of feet
below the surface of the Earth. After many years in this field of work, many miners
develop black lung because of inhaling the coal extensively. Secondly, the extraction
of coal is very costly due to the machinery needed along with the transportation of
the coal after it has been mined to the various factories that are able to extract the
sulfur impurities in coal and burn the coal for energy [5]. New methods have been
developed to help with some of the issues relating to coal production. To rid the
surrounding environment of toxic pollution, emission scrubbing
technology has been installed into coal plants. This is approximately 90% to 95%
affective in eliminating the mercury, sulfur, and nitrogen emissions [6]. As for the
deep mining issues, there is another method to retrieve coal from the Earth, removing
the entire mountain tops covering a reserve of coal beneath. Although this

extreme lack in diversity, Everyone in his family was white; everyone he knew in

Abstract The purpose of this lab was to observe the osmosis rates and mass changes
of dialysis tubes. To this three dialysis tubes with differing sucrose levels were tested
on their rate of osmosis and weighed at 15 minute intervals. The results found
described that as the sucrose level increases the rate of osmosis increased as well.
Introduction
The purpose of this experiment was to determine if the rate of osmosis has an impact
on the concentration of solutes. During this lab varying levels of sucrose were put
into dialysis bags and then into containers with varying levels of sucrose. This was
done to observe how the water moved through the dialysis tubes. This process is
known as osmosis is ...diffusion of water across a selectively permeable membrane
from high to low concentration... (Mader et. al., 2015) . The movement of water
across the membrane can be determined by the concentration of solutes inside the
dialysis bags and the solution surrounding it. If the cell is hypotonic, meaning it has a
lower osmotic pressure, its water concentration is lower than that of the concentration
in the cell, which can cause a rupture. If the cell is hypertonic, meaning it has a
higher osmotic pressure; its water concentration is lower outside the cell then it is
inside causing the cell to shrivel up. The hypothesis tested

Analysis Of Peter Pan
Discovering that every child has to grow up at some point of time is the main idea
or purpose behind the famous story of Peter Pan. Though there are different
versions of the story, each one generally has the same outcome. Analyzing two
different interpretations of Peter Pan , the Disney illusion and the original, by
James M. Barrie, it is to be learned that the Disney animation simply brings the story
to life, adds a different outlook on it as opposed to simple olden version. With new
color, animation and modern day thought the Disney story creates a different playing
of Peter Pan.
In Disney s version of Peter Pan , Disney left out many gruesome facts in their
version of the story. In the original Peter Peter by, James M. Barrie in 1904, Peter
was a young boy who lived amidst fairies and would escort dead children half of
the way to wherever they need to go. One night, Mrs. Darling sees Peter in the
nursery, contrast to the cartoon where the parents are not important characters, and
she is able to catch his shadow, roll it up, and hold it in a drawer so that she can
attempt to catch the boy. She barely remembers this boy from stories told when she
was younger. When Peter returns for his shadow when the parents are away, he
mistakenly awakes Wendy. He tells Wendy about Neverlandand the Lost Boys, who
happen to be young babies in which had fallen out of their carriages and were sadly
never found again. Wendy along with her brothers fly with Peter to Neverland,
The Characteristics And Differences Between Radio And
Radio
1.The skills one needs to be a radio listener, are more sophisticated then the skills one
would use to understand and interpret a television program. When listening to the
radio, one has to be an active listener. It requires you to pay more attention as the
information is being processed solely through auditory stimulation. This is unlike
watching televisionwhich provides both auditory and visual stimulation. Personally,
when listening to Orson Welles War of the Worlds from October 30th 1938, I found
myself more easily distracted comparing to when watching a television program or
newsstory. It is much easier to pay attention to the later. Moreover, listening to the
radio requires a person to use their own imagination more vividly. The audience has
to take in what is being described and create their own personal picture of the event.
Television seems to give us a more realistic understanding of what it is news anchor
is talking about as the consumers can be shown pictures or film footage of the event
being discussed. This add to the audience s view of the incident in its entirety. On the
radio, the news broadcasters have to be more descriptive when describing the currents
events as their descriptions are the sole foundation that the listener s imagination will
be based on. It is only through their description that the listener will get an
understanding of whatever is being discussed. The radio host must therefore put in
more detail than a television host. As expected, a
Lord Chesterfield s Letter To His Son
All a parent wants, is for their child to succeed in life; they want them to do things
that were once thought of as impossible. Lord Chesterfield, in the letter to his son,
asserts that he does not mean to dictate as a parent , but rather as a friend , in order
to give his son exceptional advice (Chesterfield). He uses various examples of
parallelism, such as through the pronoun I, and he also appeals to the audience, in
this case his son, with pathos. At the beginning of almost every sentence, he opens
with I in phrases such as I employ so much of my time and I have no womanish
weakness (Chesterfield). He uses this anaphora to show that he himself values in
specific things and now he wants to share those beliefs with his son. The

communicating about death is a very difficult process and often leads to
dreadfulness as well as regret. Today I will enlighten you and give you a clearer
understanding of the necessity of communicating about death as well as final

It was very difficult for me to accept the reality that I can t have the life I had in

though family should be united in one; my family wasn t able to stay unite

of the busy lifestyle here. Most of the nights we go to bed without seeing or talk to
each other. But, on Saturdays and Sundays, thankfully, we try our best to give time

Every generation has different concepts on everything and their lifestyle changes
too. People go with the flow of the new ways of living that is followed by people

Summary Of The Mother And Woman Hollering Creek
Julia Alverez s The Mother and Sandra Cisneros s Woman Hollering Creek are
fictional short stories that explore various hardships of adult life and immigration.
The stories have their individual differences, but in the end they both argue that while
trauma can crack people s foundations, with the strength of will and love, people can
endure. In The Mother, the narrator and her familyhave fled their home country, the
Dominican Republic, because of the country s dictatorship. The narrator, Laura,
describes those years as a series of disappearing friends, sleepless nights, house
arrest and only after a narrow escape did they escape from that world to America
(2758). Their new worry is that immigration will send them back to that traumatic
life. The last bit of action in the short storyis Laura s meeting with the social worker,
Sally O Brien. The main setting is America, and vignettes of Laura s memories from
her life in the Dominican Republic are distant memories. In Woman Hollering Creek,
the focus is on CleГіfilas s wedding and marriage the stage of her trauma. Unlike The
Mother, Woman Hollering Escape shows the fear within the trauma and not what
came after escape. CleГіfilas describes the new normal for the telenovelas she loved
as a girl the same way she views her own life: with no happy ending in sight (2777).
The two short stories also differ in the types of threats and how the protagonists dealt
with them. Laura describes what the Dominican Republic
Environmental Benefits Of Wind Energy Essay
For years the United States has been one of the leading countries in greenhouse gas
emissions. Wind energy has the potential to become the base of sustainable energy
for America s future. Although there are a few disadvantages to wind energy, the
protection it offers along with the economical and environmental advantages provide
many reasons to use more wind energyand less coaland fossil fuels in America.
Wind energy can build a safeguard for the United States to protect us from outside
adversity and harm. Increasing the number of wind turbines will help the country
become less energy dependent. In 2015, the United States imported over 2.5
million barrels of crude oil from the Organization of Petroleum Exporting
Countries alone (Wind Vision). Because this group is responsible for over two
thirds of the country s oil imports, This orginiation could sharply increase or
decrease the price of oil in America by raising or lowering the price per barrel of
crude oil. By introducing more wind energy into the United States we lower our
dependence on other countries to provide us with the resources we need to create
electricity. Along with the United States becoming less dependent on other
countries, America would find itself less susceptible to an increase in the prices of
resources due to lack of fossil fuels (Wind Vision). Wind energy acts as a safeguard
and stabilizer for any problems that may arise with more common forms of energy,
namely coal and fossil fuel, both of
Mcdonaldization Society
McDonaldization and the modern society.
McDonaldization is a terminology created by George Ritzier a sociologist in the book
The McDonaldization of Society (1993). Ritzier explains on how the modern society
is adopting the physiognomies of the fast food industry. McDonaldization is a
reconceptualization of rationalization, or moving from traditional to rational modes
of thought, and scientific management. McDonaldization has become a way life and
it s affecting society in all aspects of life and not only the food industry, from Health
care, education, and the workplace. The reason for this is because society is moving
at a faster and a moderate pace.
McDonaldization has become the new face of employment, with this phase
employees are being deskilled, dehumanized and exploited. Computerized system
such as self service aisle is being used to replace employees. Due to
McDonaldization customers are used to do the job of employee s example is
cleaning up after eating in a restaurant, another is pumping your gas at the gas
station. As time goes by, more and more jobs are becoming less interactive because

These changes reflect on the daily lives of everyone in the society. Most consumers
choose quantity over quality and prefer the bigger, less time consuming product they
can get for the worth of their dollar. Another is the creation of jobs through franchise

The Goodness Of Matt Kaizer Character Analysis
Matt Kaizer, the protagonist in Avi s short story The Goodness of Matt Kaizer, is
a 6th grader who develops a new perspective on himself as a person. After being told
his entire life to act good like his father, Matt Kaizer now struggles to find himself;
he turns to be unlike his father and becomes a daredevil. However, a dare to visiting
a dying manleads him to see the goodness in himself. After visiting Mr.Bataky, Matt s
perspective of himself begins to change.
The Goodness of Matt Kaizer begins with Matt as insecure and heartless. He
attempts to change the image that everyone expects of him due to his father s
reputation. Early in the story, Matt Kaizer was insecure; he tried to do anything
that would help him fit in. Reverend Kaizer, Matt s father, is known as an
upstanding member in the community. He is a well respected man and Matt is
adamant to be unlike him. Because Matt and his father converse, Matt s
insecurities are revealed, Matt, I do believe that there is goodness in everyone.
That goes for you too ... I m not good Matt insisted... Long as my friends dare me to
do bad things, I ll do them (Avi 36). Matt Kaizer is insecure about how others
perceive him, since he is the son of a minister. Matt Kaizer would have taken on
any dare that his friends give him. No matter how deplorable it would seem, he
would take it as he is desperate to not to be as his father s son. He is insecure about
the way people perceive him as a reverend s son, because a large weight rest on his
shoulders to be good. He surrounds himself with bad children; he hoped that they
will be a poor influence on him. Likewise, Matt Kaizer is heartless throughout the
beginning of the story. While he takes a dare to visit an alcoholic on the verge of
death, his lack of feelings is uncovered, My mother said that he may die at any
moment. Mary Beth informed us... Who cut the cheese? he said with a grin (Avi 42
43). The insensitive remark Matt spoke about Mary Beth s household suggests he
does not care about how she must be feeling. He never cares about the people
around him, because he desires to be unlike his kind father in every way imaginable.
This compels Matt to act as if he cannot be compassionate towards those around
Va s Inefficiencies And Shortcomings
The VA health care program is a disaster. Some candidates want to get rid of it, but
our veterans need the VA to be there for them and their families. That s why the
Trump plan will: Fire the corrupt and incompetent VA executives that let our
veterans down. Under a Trump Administration, there will be no job security for VA
executives that enabled or overlooked corruption and incompetence. They re fired.
New leadership will focus the VA staff on delivering timely, top quality care and
other services to our nation s veterans. Under a Trump Administration, exposing and
addressing the VA s inefficiencies and shortcomings will be rewarded, not punished.
End waste, fraud and abuse at the VA. The Trump plan will ensure the VA is

Essay On The Third Of May By Francisco Goya
Francisco Goya s, The Third of May, 1808 was painted right about 1814 15. It is an
oil on canvas painting and is the size of 8 9 x 13 4 . It is displayed at Museo del
Prado, Madrid. According to smarthistory.org, The Third of May is acclaimed as one
of the great paintings of all time, and has even been called the world s first modern
painting (khanacademy.org). The interpretation of Francisco Goyas The Third of May
1808 is a vivid representation of the atrocities of war during the Napoleonic war in
Spain, which is captured and illustrated brilliantly. The depiction of French soldiers
in a row lining prisoners up to be executed is a snapshot of an event in time, which
is frozen in this timeless piece of art painted by Goya.
The elements of art design with Goya s use of lines, shape and forms, value, space,
color and time and motion is evident within this art work and is brilliantly ... Show

The image is symbolic of Christianity because of what the emphasized prisoner in
the center is doing in the painting he spreads his arms out like how Christ was
position on the cross and he is the only figure in the painting looking directly at the
firing squad. According to khanacademy The central figure of the painting, who is
clearly a poor laborer, takes the place of the crucified Christ; he is sacrificing
himself for the good of his nation (khanacademy.org). Furthermore Goya brilliantly
paints a single light source from the lantern that shines and covers the emphasized
figure that can be interpreted as holy light accenting the prisoner and depicting him
as brave and courageous before he is shot. Goya also represents Christianity by
painting a monk included in the image with the prisoners kneeling and praying to

The Sign Of The Chrysanthemum Historical Accuracy
The Sign Of The Chrysanthemum political and historical accuracy The novel The
Sign Of The Chrysanthemum takes place in Japan during the 12th century. This
novel is about a boy named Muna, meaning no name , that has moved from a rural
part of Japan to the city, Kyoto. He was told that his father had a Chrysanthemum
tattooed on his arm. Muna sets out to find his father after only knowing this little
information about him. Muna was also told that his father was a Heike warrior,
which brings up this conflict between two feuding clans. During this time period in
Japan there was a conflict between the Heike and the Genji clans. The reason behind
their fighting is because of the conflict over political power of Japan. Muna embarks
on his journey... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The novel portrays the feudal system of Japan by giving details of how the feudal
structure is formed during this time and gives a lot of information on people that
ruled during that time. The novel goes into detail about how lords rule Japan and
how owning land is how people had power in Japan back then. The novel also
accurately portrays how this conflict over power between the lords of the lands and
the clans that are loyal to them. The novel goes into detail about Lord Kiyomori
fighting off the invasion of the Genji with Yoshitomo as their leader. The Sign Of The
Chrysanthemum also manages to accurately depict the events of this battle between
Lord Kiyomori and the Taira against the Yoshitomoand the Genji. This battle was a
bloody one, which put Taria in control of the country, but actually does not resolve
the conflict between the clans. In this novel Paterson writes about a boy that grows
up into a man through his experiences in the city, but still manages to take the time
period in Japan and imply these situations into his life. The use of the feudal structure
and military historical context is the reason why this novel accurately portrays this

Anne Frank Research Paper
On August 4, 1944, Anne Frank and the other seven inhabitants living in the annex
were arrested by the German Gestapo. Their secret about living in the annex was
exposed by an anonymous tip, that led to their arresting. The anonymous tip also
led the Gestapo to arrest two office workers that were helping the members of the
annex live. The two office workers were sent to Amersfoort Camp, which was
located in the Netherlands. Fortunately, one of the office helpers was released after
the arrest. The other helper escaped after 6 months of being confined in the camp.
As for the members of the annex, they were all transported to Camp Westerbork,
located in Northeastern Netherlands. The members of the annex arrived to the camp
four days after the arresting, on August 8, 1944. The Frank family did not stay in
Camp Westerbork for long. On September 3, 1944, the Frank family was transferred
to the Auschwitz Concentration Camp in Poland. When the family arrived to
Auschwitz, the men and women were placed in separate lines. Next, the guards
inspected each prisoner. This is where the guards would decide who would go to the
gas chambers, and who would serve as a laborer. Anne, Margot, Edith, and... Show

However, Edith Frank could not go with her girls, and she later died in Auschwitz
on January 6, 1945. In all of the camps, disease spread rapidly and sanitation was
horrible. Food was also scarce, so starvation was extremely common. Sadly, four
others that lived in the annex with the Franks also died at a concentration camp.
Herman Van Pel died in the gas chambers, and his wife died at the Theresienstadt
Camp in the Spring of 1945. Their son, Peter Van Pel died at the Mauthausen Camp,
which was located in Austria, in May of 1945. Fritz Pfeffer died of an illness in late

The Repositioning of the Common House Phone
Demographics The repositioning of the common house phone is a challenge. One
option for the phone is to sell more landlines phones to developing world nations, but
even there the growth possibilities are slim. There are small markets like Belize, but
in most countries landline infrastructure is becoming limited. There are options,
however, for repositioning the home phone in the United States, with some
modifications to the technology. Lardinois (2010) notes that Americans under the age
of 35 are unlikely to have a landline, as they use wireless devices for their computing
needs. However, even wireless devices rely on hardwire connections to the router. The
common house phone can be repositioned as a multi purpose device, emphasizing a
number of different unique functionality elements. The target market for the
redesigned and repositioned common house phone is the same market that has
eschewed the phone to this point, the urban under 35s. Other target markets already
have house phones, so there is less sales potential. However, by making the common
house phone attractive to the younger demographic, there is strong growth potential
in the new product. The number of under 35s in the United States, according to data
from the US Census Bureau is 145 million, and excluding minors the total target
market is 62.65 million. Types of Research In order to reposition the common house
phone, substantial market research forms will need to be utilized. The objective of the

strategy has propelled them forward, allowing for them to conquer feats unlike any

it has undergone a multitude of changes throughout the years. Capital One s
marketing strategy has created both successes and failures, but with it s growing
nature will continue to strive for excellence, as shown from previous accounts.
Richard Fairbank and Nigel Morris, both diligent entrepreneurs, started laying the
bricks for their eventual successful company, Capital One, in the late 1980 s. They
both worked in the Virginia based Signet Bank . Fairbank started noticing trends in
the financial industry that he felt Signet was missing out on. These opportunities
were in the credit card industry. He, as well as all of Signet Bank knew that the
credit card industry was very risky, but Fairbank was ready to take a chance in this,
what can be, highly profitable field.
Signet Bank almost had to cut the credit card venture do to losses in profit from
some real estate problems during the first couple years of the credit card launch, but
being the idea champions they were, Fairbank, along with his partner Morris, both
put their heads together and saved the day for Signet Bank. They made their credit
card more personal and gave out highly competitive
Description Of Person Centered Theory
Lien Hua a sixteen year old first generation Chinese American. Hua came to the
school social work counselor complaining of feeling stressed. Hua explained that
she is interested in pursuing social work when she goes away to college, however,
her parents would like her to either practice medicine or law. She reported that just
thinking of talking to her parents regarding her career choice is causing her
immense stress. As a result of the stress she reports that her grades have dropped and
she is socializing less. Hua has requested that the school social workertell her what to
say to her parents to help them understand her choice.
Overview of Person Centered Theoretical Approach
Person Centered Theory (PCT) was cultivated by Carl Rogers from the 1940 s
through the 1950 s (Walsh, 2013). He first developed person centered therapy,
infusing Functional and Humanistic views, consequently, person centered theory
followed. Rogers authored four books expounding on the therapy (Walsh, 2013).
Person Centered Theory is a nondirective humanistic client centered approach, which
regards the client and the social worker as contemporaries (Joseph Murphy, 2013).
The client is the authority on their life and the social worker is there to offer
unconditional positive regard, which fosters growth in sections that are important to
the client (Joseph Murphy, 2013) . The primary theoretical underpinning embraced by
the theory is embodied in actualizing tendency, which Rogers viewed as

Put down your pom poms and prepare to learn a whole lot about the cheerleading

  • 1. My First Car Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "My First Car" may initially seem like a straightforward task, given the personal nature of the subject. However, delving into the intricacies of one's first car experience requires a delicate balance of storytelling, reflection, and attention to detail. The challenge lies in transforming a seemingly ordinary narrative into a compelling and engaging piece of writing that captivates the reader's interest. One might think that reminiscing about the excitement of acquiring a first car would naturally flow onto paper, but the difficulty arises in avoiding clichГ©s and maintaining a unique perspective. Describing the make and model of the car is just the tip of the iceberg; the true essence lies in conveying the emotions, memories, and personal growth associated with this significant milestone. Moreover, striking the right balance between personal anecdotes and broader reflections can be challenging. A successful essay on this topic requires careful consideration of the target audience, ensuring that the narrative resonates not only with the writer but also with a diverse readership. The writing process may involve revisiting old memories, sifting through a myriad of emotions, and articulating them coherently. Choosing the right words to express the thrill of independence, the challenges of maintenance, and the inevitable mishaps along the way requires a keen understanding of storytelling techniques. In conclusion, composing an essay on the topic of "My First Car" demands more than a mere recollection of events; it necessitates the ability to weave a compelling narrative that transcends the personal realm and connects with the universal experiences of readers. Parallel universes Is our universe unique? From science fiction to science fact, there is a proposal out there that suggests that there could be other universes besides our own, where all the choices you made in this life played out in alternate realities. So, instead of turning down that job offer that took you from the United States to China, the alternate universe would show the outcome if you decided to venture to Asia instead. The idea is pervasive in comic books and movies. For example, in the 2009 Star Trek reboot, the premise is that the Kirk and Spock portrayed by Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto are in an alternate timeline apart from the William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy versions of the characters. The concept is known as a parallel universe, and is a facet of the astronomical theory of the multiverse. There actually is quite a bit of evidence out there for a multiverse. First, it is useful to understand how our universe is believed to have come to
  • 3. Harry Potter s Life Has Been Influenced By The Choices Of... Since the beginning of the series, Harry Potter s life has been influenced by the choices of Albus Dumbledore. Everything that has happened to Harry has occurred because of Dumbledore, but does that make him purely Dumbledore s boy or is he his own person with agency to do as he wants? After Voldemort murdered Harry s parents, Dumbledore decided to bring baby Harry to his aunt and uncles because they re the only family he has left now, and he feels it s the best place for him (Sorcerer s Stone). Dumbledore is the one that decided to send him to his relatives that underfed him, gave him only a closet, hand me down clothes, become their servant, and be bullied by his cousin Dudley. Later we learn Dumbledore sent him there because of the protection of his family since his aunt was his mother s sister. The protection meant if Voldemort came back and tried to attack Harry in his aunt and uncle s home he wouldn t be able to touch Harry there, but that doesn t justify the actions of his aunt and uncle. For eleven years, Harry was left in the dark about his parents and magic. Dumbledore was the first person to ever show Harry any sort of positive emotion or caring attribute, which could lead to Harry becoming the servant of Dumbledore. In the Sorcerer s stone, Dumbledore gave Harry the invisibility cloak. He left it with a note saying, your father left this in my possession before he died. Use it well (Sorcerer s Stone). Dumbledore giving Harry the cloak is crucial to the

Perpetrator Vs Bystander I agree with Miles Lehrman when he said that A perpetrator is not the most dangerous enemy because they re not worse than the perpetrator who watched everything that happened and didn t say anything it didn t want nothing to do with what was going on. • 8. Stereotypes Of Women In Sports Essay Every week, a new issue of Sports Illustrated magazine is distributed throughout the world, showing a provocative image of a woman athlete, on the front cover or inside, barely clothed, belittling a women s athletic ability in their professional sport. In different aspects of the world today women are underrepresented such as political positions, STEM and most importantly sports. Even though Title IX has increased females participation in sports there is still a lack of support of women s athletic events. The main focus of this review is to examine how women athletes are portrayed in the media compared to men athletes. People might not realize that the most important type of sports media is the coverage of athletic events on television. Athletic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many athletes are stereotyped by gender because the commentators are the ones speaking to the public while the public get familiarized to these stereotypes. Many commentators comment very stereotypical comments but to the public it is not very shocking due to the multitude of times it has occurred which they have grown familiar to. One of such was by a commentator , Colin Murray said during the Olympics that the ultimate athlete would have the stamina of Mo [Farah], the speed of [Usain] Bolt, the leap of [Greg] Rutherford and the bottom of Jess Ennis (Stanistreet). To a professional female athlete this was a very gender stereotyped comment due to the fact that only one of the four athletes mentioned was a woman and that the provocative part of the athlete, the butt, was given to a female athlete as the ultimate athlete. Through a study on the NCAA National Championship Games for men and women basketball, they have discovered that the commentators constantly mark the women s game repeating phrases like, ...some of the best women s college basketball teams.. , ...is a legend in women s basketball... , and ...this NCAA women s semifinal is brought to you by ... (Messner and Duncan). The word women was periodically brought up during the female championships, marking the gender stereotype, but while the male championships
  • 9. The War Of Vietnam War Essay The way American wars have been fought and how the men and women fighting those wars were affected have changed throughout the history of the United States. Soldiers have gone from being treated as the lowest class of society all the way to being the most respectable citizens in the country, with no linear progression leading them to this recognition. Since the foundation of the United Statessoldiers have been gaining more recognition for their sacrifices, with one major event standing out from this trend. The war in Vietnam was different from all wars before it, in turn causing Vietnam War veterans to be treated the worst of any soldiers previous. A mix of several factors makes this clearly evident. Those stationed in Vietnam were significantly less supported by the general population of the U.S than in any previous war. The soldiers who did make it home did not receive the homecomings that the older generations had; they were brought home to a country that disapproved of the sacrifices these soldiers made. The significant differences separating the service in the Vietnam War came before the fighting, the problems began in the draft. The deferment process for previous wars, such as World War II, were much less lenient on potential draftees. For instance, there were absolutely no educational deferments (deferments for those enrolled in a college as a full time student) given during World War II. James Wright quotes Colonel Lewis Hershey, the deputy director of
  • 10. The Law Is Made Under The First Amendment Of The United... I.Introduction In modern American society, there is little thought in how and why the laws came to be. There is a natural assumption that the laws were made to protect the people and society. The law is made under the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States which give the right to the people to seek its government for redress of any grievances. Utilizing this right, it gives rise to new laws to be enacted and old laws to be amended or repealed, in the ever developing society. As the American society progresses, we become more acceptant to compromise our core values. The value of speaking and writing has been reduced to redundant, ambiguous and vague, incomplete thoughts. Our mannerisms are guised and restricted to fit the occasion and are hardly rendered otherwise. And our due diligence to prove and maintain our status in our sexual encounters are becoming a requirement to endure in our daily lives, regardless of age. Consequently, Americans and its society are evidently hypersexualized, accurately stated within the book Sexidemic: A Cultural History of Sex in America (Lawrence R. Samuel), [t]o say that sex plays a major role in everyday life in America would be an understatement (particularly because it is the source of life itself). Sexuality is a mainstay of American popular and consumer culture; the adage sex sells is taken to heart by marketers of all kinds... Recreation too is heavily steeped in sex, with millions of us spending inordinate
  • 11. Rene Descartes Dreaming Argument Essay Dreaming Argument Dreaming is something we all are subject to. Every night when we lay down in our beds we dream, now whether or not we can remember our dreams is a different story. Dreams can be very realistic and they have been speculated and researched but we know little about our dreams, what they mean, and the sensations or feelings they provide for us. As far as we know dreaming is our unconscious mind acting out desires, possibly because we cannot do them or experience those events in our waking life. Since dreaming is so under researched and we know little about it, it has been speculated by many people. Rene Descartes go in depth on this subject and his ideas on what dreaming is arguing that we cannot distinguish the difference between being awake and being asleep. That is a very bold statement and put in a seemingly simplistic way, recorded in his first meditations. What Descartes does is challenge our preconceived notions of dreaming and puts us in the frame of mind to answer for ourselves if we are dreaming right now or are we actually experiencing reality. Descartes makes us come face to face with the reality that we actually don t know if we are dreaming. His claims that we may be dreaming is a well known philosophical argument in the Western world and I hope to discover the truth behind his argument and shed light on how I perceive his philosophy on the dreaming world. I will shed light on this dream argument by interpreting what Descartes says, other

  • 13. The Breakfast Of Champions By Ray Bradbury Since the last time I wrote a journal, I had just finished Joseph Heller s Catch 22. Now, I started and finished Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451 and also started Kurt Vonnegut s Breakfast of Champions. There are still sixty six pages remaining in the novel. Fahrenheit 451 is about a man named Guy Montag living in a future in which books are outlawed. Guy is a fireman whose job it is to burn all remaining books currently located in his city. However, when Guy meets a strange girl living outside of his apartment, he becomes intrigued with what books have the power to do. Instead of following orders, Guy starts wondering why he is doing what he is told to do rather than just doing what he is told. Breakfast of Champions is a science fiction noveldescribing the lives of two strange men. One of these men is Kilgore Trout, an unheard of novelist who will soon become one of the most famous men in America. The other man in this story is Dwayne Hoover, a wealthy man who made his fortune off of speculation on the stock market. Despite his luxurious home and fantastic job, Dwayne will soon be appalled by Kilgore Trout s idea that everyone around Dwayne is a robot. In both of these novels, change is an essential theme. In Fahrenheit 451, focus will be brought on the change of the world in which Guy resides, and also the change of Guy as a person, while in Breakfast of Champions, the focus of change is how much America has changed since 1973. There once was a time when reading was legal.

Narrative Essay About Mickey Mouse I remember the event like it was yesterday; my heart was beating and I could hear and feel it, I had determination on my face and in my mind and it felt good. My determination was to beat my younger brother to the top of the tree in our side yard. I almost never climb the trees in our yard for the fear of falling out; which has happened before when we went apple picking which did not end well on my part of climbing in those apple trees. But we were getting ready that nice sunny morning in the summer. I remember the nice sunshine and heat on my face and the cool winds coming from the East and it was just exhilarating. I told my brother Michael I bet you five bucks you can t beat me to the top of that tree! pointing at one in the yard. I knew he would do it because he would want the money and he always wanted to one up me. So we were setting up and talking smack to one another, names being changed to something else although I deflected all of his I came up with the nickname of Mickey Mouse. Funny thing is that nickname stuck around through that day and not his real name Michael. So we are all prepared to do it and we are at the bottom of the tree. I noticed that there was a cinder block at the bottom of the tree and I said Mickey better not fall on that. . And that was a dumb thing to say as to I should have just moved it so there was no possible way it could happen. But I was just a fifth grader who did not think through things. Michael said I don t need to worry about
  • 15. Do Gods Appeal To Greek Gods This quote is very introspective about deities. And it is true. Many gods in myths and legends are not known to be kind. This is why people try to appeal to them in sacrifices and offerings, fearing the gods wrath in the form of natural disasters and sickness. The concept of deities was formed in order to explain unknown things, and since people before could not predict natural disasters, they hoped that their worship will stop the bad things from happening. Even now, people appeal to deities for good fortune and to protect them, and many still fear punishment from their deities. Many worshippers make sacrifices and offering to the gods. There are many religions that call for human sacrifices, such as the Aztecs. Worshippers of Zeussacrificed

Sir Richard Branson could improve his leadership style by preparing for situations when the mission of the company has become more or less than exciting. Branson s Leadership in Space Tourism One of the most exciting and innovative projects in the world today is global space tourism. Fittingly, the Virgin Group is at the forefront of development in this exciting new industry. Finding success in this highly unknown frontier will surely require exceptional leadership skill and planning (Hawn 2006). Branson would tackle this challenge by communicating his vision to his team and continually reminding them of it throughout the duration of the project. He is the type of leader that strives to bring his team members personal satisfaction from the success of a project. Therefor, I believe he would make an effort to give strong positive recognition to his followers as each major milestone in the project is reached. Perhaps his most valuable leadership trait, Branson is excellent at communicating his vision. A project like space tourism requires a clear and achievable vision, because no other similar project has been successfully completed in the past. There is no leadership precedent to draw upon, making this ambitious goal an exceptionally challenging one. Branson will need to use his delegating skills to acquire the

  • 20. Sexually Transmitted Disease, Gonorrhea Gonorrhea is one of many highly contagious sexually transmitted infections caused by the bacteria Neisseria gonorrhoeae, a gram negative intracellular diplococcus. These infectious bacteria can spread through sexual contact and intercourse, as well as transmission during childbirth from mother to fetus. This specific bacterium likes to grow in warm, moist areas of the body. They can multiply very fast and infect the mucous membranes. Gonorrhea is said to infect an approximate 820,000 people in the United States annually. This genus is motile and can stick to surfaces and make it easy to contract. This bacterium contains Opa proteins. Opa proteins in this genus bind to receptors in the immune system. This action makes it possible to prevent an immune response. The infection, N. gonorrhea is not able to develop memory cells against its own kind, meaning it can alter the bodies response the next time around as it was never treated or infected. This later makes it possible to infect the same person. Gonorrhea can be caught through sexual contact and intercourse. Some forms of transmission are vaginal intercourse, anal intercourse, as well as oral intercourse and can sometimes infect the eyes. Not everyone experiences signs and symptoms of gonorrhea, when infected or during the course of infection, therefore making the chances of one knowing you have been infected rather difficult. This can potentially lead to more serious effects such as infertility, pelvic inflammatory

(Axelrod, 2006) The soldiers that served under Patton in the Third and Seventh Army s knew him as a soldier s leader and took his death very hard. They considered Patton one of the greatest men that ever lived. Patton professed to be a Christian and was certain that God destined him to military greatness. (Axelrod, 2006) Patton was an incredible leader to the third and seventh armies, yet he was continuously threatened with being removed from command. He suffered from dyslexia, deep depression, and episodes of hysteria which made his confidence levels close to zero. Yet he led armies under him into victories that exuded confidence. There were mothers that were terrified of Patton s tactics with their sons, but Dwight D. Eisenhowerwas sure that those same tactics used by Patton would save those soldier s lives. Patton was a strong leader that led by example. He fought with his soldiers and was on the front line right beside them. When he spoke, he may have been feared, but he was also respected. He was a man of his word. He put soldiers in place that he knew would get the job done. He made sure his soldiers were always on guard and ready to fire at all times when it was pertinent. The personal identity theory states that the philosophical confrontation with the ultimate questions of our own existence, such as who are we, and is there life after death? Despite all these achievements, many people argue that the humanists were not cared about or considered important and that masterpieces of Renaissance sculpture were not widely seen or known (Document 3). This view is incorrect because the revival of the classics and the wide use of all of the different artistic techniques during the Renaissance such as realism and perspective were only possible because of the ideas and artwork that pervaded Europe. For example, the Northern Renaissance occurred partly because merchants bought art and books from Italian merchants and spread it through northern Europe where countless people viewed it and began creating similar paintings. Some major works such as the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter s Basilica were in prominent places where many people would go to for religious reasons, and thus, a great amount of people were exposed to the work as well. Hedda Gabler Symbols Objects in Hedda Gabler Henrik Ibsen showed Europe that theater could be more than just spectacle, that it could be an art form addressing the most serious moral and social questions of the time (Norton 778). In some of his works Ibsen attempted to write modern versions of Greek tragedy. Of these, his play Hedda Gabler, displaying the tragedy of modern middle class life, is the most compelling and famous (Norton 780). In Hedda Gabler, Ibsen uses the household and its objects, Mrs. Elvested s hair and manuscript written with Eilert LГёvorg, and the opening and closing of curtains as symbolism in the play. Hedda Tesman s marriage to George Tesman, a member of the lower middle class, has dragged her down from her position in upper middle class society to a member of a lower class. Their households and its objects are a never ending source of scorn for Hedda throughout the play; Hedda despises those objects associated with Tesman and his class, and she admires the remnants of her former life (Norton 780). At the beginning of the play she examines her old piano and compares it to the other objects in the room: I was just looking at my old piano. It really doesn t go with these other things (Ibsen 789). However, when Tesman suggests they trade it in for a better matching one, she refuses to let it go and its connection to her former class. Energy from Coal: The Nation s Dirty Secret Abstract While technology has led the world into such an advanced setting with intelligent machinery and automated devices, coal has remained a loyal contributor of the energy needed by these various types of equipment to function properly. Almost half of the electricity in the United States is produced in coal plants where coal is burnt to produce this energy [1]. Both beneficial and detrimental factors come with this alternative source of energy, known by the world for centuries. Background Information Even with the quantity of fossil fuels dwindling due to human consumption, coal has remained one of the cheapest, reliable sources of electricity, natural gas, diesel fuel, and steel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But there are also many detrimental factors as well, since the production of coal results in air pollution, sulfur dioxide emission, carbon dioxide emission, acid rain, and hazardous waste [4]. These environmental problems are due to both the mining of coal and coal production plants. Many issues arise with the mining of coal. Firstly, the safety of miners is put at risk as they descend hundreds of feet below the surface of the Earth. After many years in this field of work, many miners develop black lung because of inhaling the coal extensively. Secondly, the extraction of coal is very costly due to the machinery needed along with the transportation of the coal after it has been mined to the various factories that are able to extract the sulfur impurities in coal and burn the coal for energy [5]. New methods have been developed to help with some of the issues relating to coal production. To rid the surrounding environment of toxic pollution, emission scrubbing technology has been installed into coal plants. This is approximately 90% to 95% affective in eliminating the mercury, sulfur, and nitrogen emissions [6]. As for the deep mining issues, there is another method to retrieve coal from the Earth, removing the entire mountain tops covering a reserve of coal beneath. Although this

The Concentration Of Solutes Affects The Rate Of Osmosis Running head: THE CONCENTRATION OF The Concentration of Solutes affects the Rate of Osmosis Chintan Jani Biology 101 01 Dr. Reynolds October 6, 2016 Abstract The purpose of this lab was to observe the osmosis rates and mass changes of dialysis tubes. To this three dialysis tubes with differing sucrose levels were tested on their rate of osmosis and weighed at 15 minute intervals. The results found described that as the sucrose level increases the rate of osmosis increased as well. Introduction The purpose of this experiment was to determine if the rate of osmosis has an impact on the concentration of solutes. During this lab varying levels of sucrose were put into dialysis bags and then into containers with varying levels of sucrose. This was done to observe how the water moved through the dialysis tubes. This process is known as osmosis is ...diffusion of water across a selectively permeable membrane from high to low concentration... (Mader et. al., 2015) . The movement of water across the membrane can be determined by the concentration of solutes inside the dialysis bags and the solution surrounding it. If the cell is hypotonic, meaning it has a lower osmotic pressure, its water concentration is lower than that of the concentration in the cell, which can cause a rupture. If the cell is hypertonic, meaning it has a higher osmotic pressure; its water concentration is lower outside the cell then it is inside causing the cell to shrivel up. The hypothesis tested

The Characteristics And Differences Between Radio And Radio 1.The skills one needs to be a radio listener, are more sophisticated then the skills one would use to understand and interpret a television program. When listening to the radio, one has to be an active listener. It requires you to pay more attention as the information is being processed solely through auditory stimulation. This is unlike watching televisionwhich provides both auditory and visual stimulation. Personally, when listening to Orson Welles War of the Worlds from October 30th 1938, I found myself more easily distracted comparing to when watching a television program or newsstory. It is much easier to pay attention to the later. Moreover, listening to the radio requires a person to use their own imagination more vividly. The audience has to take in what is being described and create their own personal picture of the event. Television seems to give us a more realistic understanding of what it is news anchor is talking about as the consumers can be shown pictures or film footage of the event being discussed. This add to the audience s view of the incident in its entirety. On the radio, the news broadcasters have to be more descriptive when describing the currents events as their descriptions are the sole foundation that the listener s imagination will be based on. It is only through their description that the listener will get an understanding of whatever is being discussed. The radio host must therefore put in more detail than a television host. Summary Of The Mother And Woman Hollering Creek Julia Alverez s The Mother and Sandra Cisneros s Woman Hollering Creek are fictional short stories that explore various hardships of adult life and immigration. The stories have their individual differences, but in the end they both argue that while trauma can crack people s foundations, with the strength of will and love, people can endure. In The Mother, the narrator and her familyhave fled their home country, the Dominican Republic, because of the country s dictatorship. The narrator, Laura, describes those years as a series of disappearing friends, sleepless nights, house arrest and only after a narrow escape did they escape from that world to America (2758). Their new worry is that immigration will send them back to that traumatic life. The last bit of action in the short storyis Laura s meeting with the social worker, Sally O Brien. The main setting is America, and vignettes of Laura s memories from her life in the Dominican Republic are distant memories. In Woman Hollering Creek, the focus is on CleГіfilas s wedding and marriage the stage of her trauma. Unlike The Mother, Woman Hollering Escape shows the fear within the trauma and not what came after escape. CleГіfilas describes the new normal for the telenovelas she loved as a girl the same way she views her own life: with no happy ending in sight (2777). The two short stories also differ in the types of threats and how the protagonists dealt with them. Laura describes what the Dominican Republic

Wind energy has the potential to become the base of sustainable energy for America s future. Although there are a few disadvantages to wind energy, the protection it offers along with the economical and environmental advantages provide many reasons to use more wind energyand less coaland fossil fuels in America. Wind energy can build a safeguard for the United States to protect us from outside adversity and harm. Increasing the number of wind turbines will help the country become less energy dependent. In 2015, the United States imported over 2.5 million barrels of crude oil from the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries alone (Wind Vision). Because this group is responsible for over two thirds of the country s oil imports, This orginiation could sharply increase or decrease the price of oil in America by raising or lowering the price per barrel of crude oil. By introducing more wind energy into the United States we lower our dependence on other countries to provide us with the resources we need to create electricity. Along with the United States becoming less dependent on other countries, America would find itself less susceptible to an increase in the prices of resources due to lack of fossil fuels (Wind Vision). One option for the phone is to sell more landlines phones to developing world nations, but even there the growth possibilities are slim. There are small markets like Belize, but in most countries landline infrastructure is becoming limited. There are options, however, for repositioning the home phone in the United States, with some modifications to the technology.
