Smart goals
Use Your Study Time Wisely
 Develop and plan for blocks of study time in a
typical week
 Decide when you are most productive. Are you a
morning person or a night owl?
 Dedicate a space for study
 Determine a place free from distraction (people,
noise, your cell phone, etc.) where you can
maximize your concentration. Have a back-up space
that you can escape to.
 Take breaks
 Some difficult materials may require more frequent
breaks.
 Take time to relax or otherwise refresh or re-
energize yourself.
 Have a snack.
What do you think students
report as causes of their failure?
1 Problem
Common Problem Areas
1. Too Much Socializing
2. Poor Sleep Habits
3. Lack of Motivation
4. No Commitment
5. No SMART GOLES.
17
Which is best for your students?
For you?
NO CELL POLICY or NO POLICY
#2 Too Much Socializing
#3 Sleep Problems
• Sleeping pills, energy drinks,
• Sleep with cells and laptops
• Can’t get up in morning
• Sleep deprived
• Can’t fall asleep
• Nap for hours
• waste14 hrs/wk average
Lack of Motivation &
Commitment
X`
The root of most problems.
1. Demands of university are a shock.
2. High school was easy and/or they simply did what
they were told.
3. They aren’t equipped for the delayed gratification.
4. Have little idea of how their studies will lead to a
rewarding life.
Motivational Strategies
1. Dream board
2. Remember priorities
3. Tell friends I failed and can’t fail again
4. Recall look on parent’s face when told of failure
5. Post good marks, encouraging feedback
6. Compete; hang out with good students
7. Aim higher(APJ- THINK BIG)
8. Dream about my future and the life I want be…..CMA
9. Positive self talk (Say Ur Self I can do any thing every thing
in the universe.)
10. Talk with Sinner and professionals who can inspire You
Dreamboard
23
24
1.Don’t Compare yourself with any one in this world,
If you compare, you are insulting yourself.
2.No one will manufacture a lock without a key,
Similarly God won’t give problems without solutions.
3. Life laughs at you when you are unhappy,
Life smiles at you when you are happy……
Life salutes you when you make others happy…..
4. Every successful person has a painful story.
Every painful story has a successful ending.
Accept the pain and get ready for success.
5. Easy is to judge the mistakes of others.
Difficult is to recognize our own mistakes.
It is easier to protect your feet with slippers than to cover the
earth with carpet.
25
6. No one can go back and change a bad beginning
But anyone can start now and create a successful ending…..
7. If a problem can be solved , no need to worry about it.
IF a problem cannot be solved what is the use of worrying?
8. If you miss an opportunity don’t fill the eyes with tears.
It will hide another better opportunity in front of you.
9. ”changing the face “ can change nothing.
But “ Facing the change” can change everything.
Don’t complain about others; Change yourself if you want peace.
10. Mistakes are painful when they happen.
But year’s later collection of mistakes is called experience,
which lead to success.
11. Heated gold becomes ornaments.
Beaten copper becomes wires.
Depleted stones becomes statue.
So the more pain you get in life you become more valuable.
Win with prioritisation

Every painful story has a successful ending. Accept the pain and get ready for success. 5. Easy is to judge the mistakes of others. Difficult is to recognize our own mistakes. It is easier to protect your feet with slippers than to cover the earth with carpet.
  • 25. 25 6. No one can go back and change a bad beginning But anyone can start now and create a successful ending….. But year’s later collection of mistakes is called experience, which lead to success. 11.
