Even though
we celebrate
September 5 as Teachers
day, the rest of the world
celebrate World Teacher’s
Day on October 5 every year
since 1994. The day is an
opportunity to promote and
recognize the importance of
educators in the future of
every generation. I am happy
to share some award winning
faculties in this month issue
too. I would like to thank Dr.
R. Deepalakshmi, for helping
me to bring yet another color-
ful issue. This issue focuses
on NET, i strongly felt crack-
ing the NET was no more a
subject matter but mind mat-
ters a lot. I wish all those
NET aspirants who are going
to take up this November
exam, “All the very best”
Laurels to Guru Nanak College

“While most of us
are dreaming of
success, winners
wake up and work
hard to achieve
it.”
NETNET DDREAMREAM
And the story continues..
The Sunday started little early, many
of us were busy searching for their hall
ticket, got ourselves ready, suddenly
we will think of GOD and say our
prayers too..and rush to the exam
centre. Once the answer booklet
seals are open, a big smile on
most of our faces, because it
seems like all most all the
questions are so familiar to all
of us, but as usual, the given
four options for the answers
were so similar. We know that
choices are important in life,
but these four choices make our
life difficult to take a decision.
That moment our mind says… “Ok..
Next exam I will definitely prepare
and crack the exam..” (Same thing we
would have told to ourselves on last
attempt too)… and the story contin-
ues….
Dream-to-success -A roadmap
Today, it is a dream for every NET
aspirants, hoping that one day it come
true.. But today, there were at least
one or two NET qualified faculties in
our department in almost all the col-
leges, who have proved that “Yes, it is
possible”.
There are faculties among us, with
many years of experience but NET
remains has a dream for them, inter-
estingly among those made it, many
are youngsters, there are even people
just completed their PG have NET
cleared. These made us to study the
issue… we found there is something
beyond experience and knowledge.
We found certain factors common
among the faculties who made it; they
are Planning, dedication, consistency
and sustainability. Similarly there are
few factors common among those
who not made it, which is, Reasons
and excuses. This reminds us the say-
ing “While most of us are dreaming of
success, winners wake up and work hard
to achieve it.”
Advice yourself
We teachers do many tasks methodol-
ogically, time bound, sincerely to per-
form our duties to our students and
department, but when it comes to our
own self development, we give rea-
sons and excuses. For a change, we
imply the teacher within us to our-
selves, why do we expect someone to
train us, when we are the best train-
ers, yes, we try to apply our tech-
niques to our own selves by
“Test yourself”. “The best way
to succeed in NET is to act on
the advice which you give to
your students.”
No Mantras, only princi-
ples
We do not need mantras to
crack the NET. We carry all of
the power we need inside
ourselves already, just follow
the basic principles:
Seven principles
1. Sound Planning and Prepara-
tion
2. Commitment
3. Zeal and Enthusiasm
4. Focus and concentration
5. Time Management
6. Remain Healthy
7. Visualize Success
In learning process, I always
believe the transformation
should be made from known
state to unknown state, hence
here we suggest our favorite
water fall model for preparing
NET Exam.
Planning
i. Familiarize yourself
ii. Time Scheduling
iii.Sleep and Eat Well
iv.Be confident
v. Opt for new Subjects for
teaching
Analysis
i. Systematic Approach
ii. Previous Year Question Paper
iii.Identify and concentrate on
important topics from each
subjects
Design
i. Make Notes
ii. Get Assistance
iii.Teach some one
iv.Mock Test
Implementation
i. Concentrate for Paper-I , it
will help your aggregate
ii. Elimination of irrelevant Op-
tions
iii.Attend all the questions
Testing &Maintenance
i. Self-evaluation of previous
attempts
Self Analysis using SWOT
The SWOT (Strengths,
Weaknesses, Opportunities,
Threats) analysis is a com-
monly used matrix tool that
can provide an objective and
critical self-assessment as a
background to strategic plan-
ning.
It looks at both the external
and internal factors of a NET
aspirant faculty:
Strengths and Weaknesses
are faculty’s internal fac-
tors.
Opportunities and Threats
are faculty’s external fac-
tors.
This tool can deal with broad
or narrow issues, as long as
they are clear and under-
standable.
Method:
Draw a matrix that has nine
fields, Label the fields as
Strengths, Weaknesses Op-
portunities and Threats as
shown below.
Participants begin by listing all
strengths and weaknesses in
the respective fields.
Strengths: Key strengths, core
competencies in those subjects.
Weaknesses: things it does less
well and/or cannot cope with
specific subjects.
Opportunities: Opportunities
that may arise for handling those
new subjects.
Threats: Those subjects never
learnt during in your course.
Conclusion
People are more likely to
take credit for their success,
but give reasons for their
failure. This is known as a self
-serving bias. Learning hap-
pens in the minds and souls,
not in the multiple-choice
tests. The proper route to an
understanding of the NET is
an examination of our errors
about it. Even very ordinary
people, upon clearing the
NET, can often look extraor-
dinary. Every minute you
waste in doing nothing, just
remember that someone is
getting smart somewhere. It’s
not your alarm that wakes
you up. It’s your dedication.
“Even very
ordinary
people, upon
clearing the
NET, can often
look
extraordinary”

You're not alone. At any
given moment, some-
where in our country
someone struggles with
the same challenge of
cracking the NET exam
you have. You know you
don't want to reinvent
the wheel, so you look
to Design Patterns – the
lessons learned by those
who've faced the same
exams. With study Pat-
terns, you get to take
advantage of the best practices and experience of oth-
ers, so that you can spend your time on something else.
Something more challenging. Something more complex.
Something more purposeful..the following section I com-
piled some of the online resources on UGC NET Com-
puter science. Again it is you the one to decide which
one suits you..
