What is Public Relation?
Public relations can enhance the usefulness of promotion tools employed by the service company.
Public relations involve a variety of programs designed to promote a company or to protect the image
or its individual products.
 The term PR was first coined by the US President Thomas Jefferson. He used the term during his
address to congress in 1807.
 It involves evaluation of public opinions and attitudes.
 Formulation of implementation of an organization’s procedure and policy regarding
communication with its public.
The Role of PR:
 To build the brand- have to build the brand, get into the news, speak at industry events,
win awards, show the world what company is made of.
 To generate the leads- public relations programs can place the company and
products/services in the media devoured by your potential customers.
 Public relation gather information and monitor trends.
 Prepare communication planning and information dissemination.
 Deals with public groups and other organizations with regard to social and other policies
of the organization and legislations of the government.
Crisis Management
 Crisis management is the establishing methods and policies to be used when an organization’s
operations become involved in an emergency affecting the public. This includes policies and
procedures for the distribution of information to employees, media, government and other key
publics.
 Crisis management deals with emergencies affecting the organization. They help establish policies
for dealing with emergencies, such as who gets to communicate with the media, and how
management shares information with employees.
Five Steps that helps Crisis management
 Advising on the strategic approach to take and identifying the key audiences to be
communicated with public relation.
 They must take responsibility manage the situation by taking responsibility, reacting
immediately, and responding to feedback. for crisis development.
 Reputation management matters more than ever and it can be lost in an instant.
 Be Ready For Social Media reaction and have a plan and review it often.
 Develop Strong Organizational Brand Culture and service delivery that will find new lows in
brand experience always start at the top.
