1. NMEKerrang! Q Magazine
Kerrang evidently targets teenagers and
young adults (ages 16-26). This can be
seen through their use of informal
language and use of vocabulary such as
‘He is plugged in’. They see that having a
younger audience range as adventurous
and therefore include much more
information relating to enthusiastic
aspects such as festivals and gigs which
help the readers interact and support
their favourite artists.
NME focuses solemnly on social media
and entertainment as their audience is
active and knowledgeable in those areas.
Therefore they mention not only music
but also films and mobiles. Their median
age ground is 23 but ranges from
teenagers to young adults. NME focus on
the punk genre as well as its sub genres
which varies from grime punk to hard-
core punk.
Q Magazine targets a more mature
audience with a median of around 34.
They mention and include in their
magazine few of newer bands however
do also include older, more classic bands
and artists. The magazine has a close
relationship with Glastonbury Festival
and also adds stats that state that 70%
of their readership is in employment.
Fromthis I can presume that Q magazine
targets people who are in theC1 and C2
of the socio economic groups.
