2. Mission and
Purpose
There are many children our age who are suffering from hunger.
Even with the hunger percent decreasing, there is still a lot of work
to be done. We want to be a part of the effort to help solve world
hunger.
● We want to start a shelter that provides a home and nutritious
meals to children from the ages 10-18.
3. Mission and Purpose (continued)
● We plan to locate the center in a place with a high homeless and hunger rates,
and little support. We want to do this to provide help to those who receive
minimal support.
● We want to give unfortunate children have a better life by educating them on
the importance of healthy meals. Then help them to be able to have a similar
childhood to children who are more fortunate.
4. Planning and Organizing
● We want to begin fundraising and getting supplies that
will help start the center. We hope that we can get
donations to help us buy a building, which will be our
first center.
● We want to hold fundraisers in our schools to obtain the
necessary supplies we need, such as clothing and
specific canned foods.
● After we get our first building we will start to work or
expand in many ways.
5. Planning and Organizing
(continued)
● Along with school fundraising, we plan
to have printed ads in cities to ensure
that we can reach every age group. We
plan to ask them to donate to our
cause.
● We decided that we wanted to allow
high schoolers and younger students
to be able to volunteer. This allows
them to gain service hours and and
interact with the children.
● We also know that many people are
reluctant to go to shelters because of
the danger within shelters. We want to
invite off duty police officers to enforce
safety.
6. Why we are
passionate about this
● We are passionate about this because we want to help children who are hungry and
homeless.
● As children who are fortunate enough to know where our next meals come from, and
have a constant shelter over our heads, we want to help other children have the
same blessing.
● The largest group of unaccompanied children range from the ages 13-17, so we
chose to focus on children of that age.
7. Our Vision
● We want to start a center, first expanding our original location, then gaining
enough donations and support to be able to have a larger organization with
multiple centers.
● We hope to be able to bring as many children off the streets, but ensure that
they receive healthy meals, and a better education than what they had .
8. Our Vision
(continued)
● We also really want to stress the
importance of nutritious meals
because many homeless children
become obese because they cannot
afford healthy meals, which results
in them buying food from fast food
restaurants and convenience stores
9. Non profit
organization
● We are teaming with Extra Table in
Hattiesburg, Mississippi. There mission
is similar to ours. They want to end
hunger by providing food pantries
and soup kitchens with the new and
healthy food they need to feed the
community.
● We chose this organization because
they can send food to our shelter, so
we can use it to feed children.
● We chose the Extra Table organization
because Mississippi has the highest
child poverty and hunger rates.
10. Steps To Put This Plan Into Action.
● After this program, we plan to individualize our mission. We want to start
fundraising and continue planning, so we could potentially help solve this issue
in our own communities.
