Walk For Hunger (3)
1. WALK FOR HUNGER (3)
Done by: Noel Lam, Lam Han Ting, Brandon
Lim and Lee Kang Hao
2. Story of the two mothers
• The two mothers who live on opposite sides of the
globe had decided to educate their children of their
capabilities in making a difference.
• They aimed to raise funds for the 700,000 people
who do not have enough to eat in their home state
of Massachusetts.
• In order to raise this fund they had to influence the
public to take part in the walking event and increase
the number of supporters.
3. • In order to raise awareness of their event, boys and
girls between 5 to 12 to walk the distance of 6.4km
which is roughly the distance between Orchard Road
and Toa Payoh.
• They did this on purpose to their children in order
to let them understand that not everything in this
world is perfect. Children are more thoughtful and
observant around age 5 to 12 as they are able to
learn more within age.
• However she doesn’t have the intention to raise
awareness of all the world’s problems to her son at
this stage of early life. She believed that he can do
something about in his own little way.
4. • He started at age of three by donating some of his
birthday gifts to a charitable organisation which is
started up by an American mother to deliver
birthday gifts to children in shelters for the homeless
across the United States.
• He also suggested to donate his christmas gifts on
his own accord last november after his fifth birthday
overseas trip.
• He also choose on his own accord to visit the police
and fire station and personally thank them keeping
him safe and doing a good job.
5. • She wants her son to know that “Little bits of
something are so much better than loads of nothing
when it comes to enacting positive change”
• In Singapore , 450 children from 30 schools took
part last year. One team helped design and exercise
machine for the elderly and successfully tested it at a
community hospital. This helps us to be more
sympathetic to others.
• To Bulya , Ms Setha and the millions of mothers
here and abroad who are trying to raise children who
care. Thanks for what you did.
6. Conclusion
• In a nutshell, we can conclude if everyone can play a
part in helping the society , we can make the world a
better place for you and for me. We can also learn to
be more sympathetic towards people which needs
our help.
