 Full-time employment is a powerful contributor to
employee turnover, employee retention, and
employee loyalty to PetSmart.
 The more full-time employees at the Palm Desert,
PetSmart location will increase productivity,
therefore increase profitability.
Introduction
Turnover Rates
The U.S. is among the top 5 countries with
a high employee turnover at about 23%.
 In 2012 PetSmart had a turnover rate of 67% in its part-
time employees.
 More than double the countries average.
 10% is a recommended goal for employee turnover.
 Employee retention and loyalty will help lower the
turnover rate.
Employee Turnover
 In order to get closer to a 10% turnover rate,
employee retention is key.
 Full-time employment creates a commitment
between the employee and the company.
 Employees usually hold one full0time job
compared to multiple part-time jobs.
Employee Retention
 Offering full-time employment creates company
loyalty (more valuable than you think).
 Employees are more motivated to come to work
and work efficiently.
 More time is spent getting tasks done, rather than
training new hires.
Loyalty to the Company
 Employee loyalty and retention play a big role in
the turnover rates at PetSmart.
 In order for Petsmart to achieve a lover turnover
rate, employees should be benefited with full-time
employment.
 Pay-roll will not suffer the expense of constant
training.
