WHAT KIND OF MEDIA
INSTITUTION MIGHT
DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA
PRODUCT AND WHY
The media institution that might distribute my music magazine would be
Bauer Media Group as they are rather a large magazine conglomerate,
reaching 19.5 million people and selling 144 million copies per year in
the US along, within the UK, they reach over 22 million with 31% market
share in retail magazine sale, having branches also in most of Europe
and in Russia, along with New Zealand and Australia. With over 600
magazines worldwide, more than 400 digital media platforms, and over
100 radio and TV stations and so if Bauer were to distribute my music
magazine, it would have a high percentage chance of getting picked up
and bought, along with a high probability of having its own radio or TV
station with a website or social media account which would all have the
same coverage as the magazine but might have exclusives to entice
physically readers to go onto the website, getting more ad revenue.
With Q being one of the magazines that
Bauer sell and Q being a multi-platform
brand and concentrating on a general
selection of music, not choosing a specific
style of music to talk about within, giving
my magazine more chance to be picked up
for Rock specific content.
Frontline Distribution Company
I would choose the distributing company, Frontline to handle the circulation of my
magazine
The reason I would want Frontline to distribute my magazine as it has direct ties to the
conglomerate, Bauer with Bauer being Frontline’s fourth partner is January of 2005
and then acquired by Bauer Publishing in December 2007, with this fact, it shows that
they have vertical integration with the conglomerate Bauer and Frontline, distributing
their magazines at a cheaper cost and so if Bauer published my magazine and
Frontline distributed it, it would allow my magazine to have a higher revenue statistic
as the cost of distribution would be cheaper via the vertical integration but being more
expensive if it was distributed by a third-party distributor such as such as Marketforce
which distributes NME and is owned by Time Inc, a competitor of Bauer and another
conglomerate
