What have you learntabout technologiesfromthe process of constructingthis product?
The firstthingthat I had to familiarisemyself withwasthe digitalcamera. Some simple rules thatI
had to rememberduringmyfilmingwasthatif I wasnot filmingIhadto make sure that I turnedthe
camera off to save battery sothat it wouldnotruinthe filmingthatI hadplanned forthe day as I
wouldbe unable tofilmit.
A challenge thatIhad to overcome wasmakingsure thatthe subjectwithinthe scene wasinfocus
so that I can control what the audience shouldfocus on. Atfirst, Ididnotacknowledge thiswhich
made it ratherdifficulttounderstand wherethe audience should look. Due tothis, I had to make a
secondattemptandsuccessfully keptthe subjectinfocus whenitwasneeded showingwhatis
importantinthat particularscene. Ialsomade sure that I took plenty of the same shotso that I was
able to have multipleclipstochoose fromasat timeswhenfilming, itwasdifficulttonotice our
shadows were inthe frame or the lightingwashorrible. Thisway Icouldchoose the bestclipsand
inputthemintomyfinal mediaproduct. However, the scene of astudentandteacherwithin a
classroomwasunsuccessful asIfailedtocheckif it was still infocusasI had initially made itbe.
AnotherthingthatI had to learnaboutusinga camera and a tripod wasthat if there needed tobe a
pan shot, I mustmake sure it wentsmoothly. Thiswasextremely challengingasthe camera would
shakily slide. Atthe startthe camerawas very stiff whichshowed whenfilmingitandIhad to make
sure the tripoddidnot move fromitsspot. Eventually, Iunderstood the problems whichhelpedme
achieve myshotas I learntto loosen the cameraonthe tripodwhichhelped toswiftly move itacross
the street. Duringthe editingI cut outthe start sothat it immediatelystartedthe panacross the
street.
Withinediting, Ilearnthow touse colourcorrection when itwasnecessary. Ilearntthat I can make
the entire scene darkerorI can highlightthe shadowingaswell asthe makingboldercolours
significantly standoutfromeverythingelse withinthe frame inAdobe PremierePro. Howeverwith
my firstattemptwiththis, Ihad intended tocreate adarker scene, howeverIchose the coolertones
whichconsequently made the scene blue. Thisdidnotlook natural whichiswhatI was aimingforto
make the audience relate tomyfilmbetter. Once Ilearnedtoreduce the colouringfromthe original
scene andmake it darkerwithoutchangingthe colouringthe effectthatI wantedwasachieved asit
was clearthat somethingbadwasgoingtohappen creatinga scarieratmosphere.
As I hadneveruseda blogpriorto my MediaStudies coursework, itwasalearningexperience for
me as I had to make sure that my postswithinboththe pre-production andmyproduction were in
orderand easyfor whoeveristolook at my blogsothey can findthe specificvideoorplanningthat
they wishtolook at. This linkstotechnological convergence aswithinmyblog, there isavariety of
websites, technology andmethods thatIhave usedto presentmywork. Ihad to alsoensure thatmy
blogwas aesthetically pleasingandpresented myself inthe way thatI wishto.
UsingAdobe Premiere ProwaschallengingasIhad neverusedaneditingsoftware thatcomplexasI
am usedto usingiMovie due toitssimplicity. Tocutparts of the clipthatI did notrequire was
extremely washoweverwhen applyingthe audioof the reporteroveranexistingclipwaslittle more
difficultasitwashard to maintainitinthe right audionumberandmakingsure that the lengthwas
the same to make sure thatit flowed smoothly. Howeveronce Igotthe hang of this, the restof the
editingwasvery easy.

software. Itwashard to included many layersasitwouldonly confuse me asI was unable toidentify
whatwas what. Furthermore, wheninputingthisontothe clip, the nextdifficulty wastryingtoapply
it andthe creditsinthe mostcompatible position withinthe clipasitwas challengingtounderstand
where the creditswill be seenbetterandbe the mainfocuson the screen.
The animaticwas a loteasierto create as the storyboard wasvery specificthereforeitwaseasierto
produce an animaticforit as itwas clearwhat washappening. Howeverthe audioshould have been
improved asitdidnot soundprofessionalanddue tothat, itmade it harderto focus on that as the
voice wastoo quiet. Overall, the animaticwassimple asitwaswas tocrop the scene thatwas being
discussed andputintoordervery easily.
