2. IMOVIE
I have been familiar with iMovie through doing school projects, and
making small films in my spare time. However I have never used it in
as much depth as I did for my coursework.
I really pushed the limits of iMovie’s capabilities in doing my CGI
effects, and I learnt how to chroma key, adjust opacity, layer videos
and effects and many more small shortcuts.
3. BLOGGER & YOUTUBE
Before my Media AS I was not familiar with producing content for
blogger and Youtube. However, I quickly got the hang of it and my
previous knowledge of website coding came in handy when
designing my blog.
Furthermore in Youtube, I quickly learnt the ins and outs of uploading,
thumbnails and many other essential features.
4. DSLR CAMERA
Before I filmed my Media Coursework, I had no prior experience of
filming with my DSLR (Canon 100D) as it was brand new at the time.
I watched numerous tutorials on Youtube and quickly learnt how to
shift focus, adjust the picture settings, adjust the ISO and aperture
and adjust the quality and frames per second in accordance to
conventional cinematic settings.
5. RODE MICROPHONE
Just before I filmed, I also had recently purchased the Rode Video
Micro.
I found this fairly easy to set up, after watching other people use it on
Youtube, and I found that it significantly improves the sound quality.
6. MOTION
Before my coursework I had never even heard, let alone used,
Motion.
This was a very new technology for me but with help from my teacher
and classmates, I was able to learn some basic techniques which
allowed me to manipulate a few images for my film ident.
7. PREZI & CANVA
Prezi and Canva are two internet based sites that I have used
throughout my project.
I quickly learnt to create presentations with ‘Prezi’, using their tools
and it has now become my ‘go-to’ presentation software. As with
‘canva’ I quickly adapted to the photo software and was able to make
an ‘infographic’ for my Evaluations.
8. DA VINCI RESOLVE
When it came to colour grading, I discovered ‘Da Vinci Resolve’
which really took colour to the next level.
I did not use every feature available on this software, but I did learn
how to use the colour wheels and charts to manipulate my opening’s
colours and make it more cinematic.
