2. What are Composite Materials ?
Fist activity: Testing Different kinds of Ice
Second activity: Hunting for Composite Materials.
Third activity: Exploring the Difference Between Strength and Stiffness.
Fourth activity: Testing a Foam Composite for Strength and Stiffness.
Design Project: Designing a Fishing Pole
Product idea : Magic piece
3. This module over all talks about COMPOSITE MATERIALS
A composite material consists of two or more visibly
distinct substances
A lot of experiments were done to
serve discover composite
materials through these
experiment we have reach our
final product idea
6. ACTIVITY 2:
Procedure:
1. Brought twenty object from our
daily life
2. Separated the composite
materials from the pure ones
3. Identified the components of each
composite material
4. Knew the purpose behind using
every component in each
Objective: identify the wide variety of composite materials
that are used to make everyday objects
7. • Example:
Concrete components:
1. Water
2. Aggregate (rocks, sand and gravel)
3. Cement
ACTIVITY 2:

• Conclusion:
Composite materials are everywhere
around us to provide us with so many
useful characteristics that we need in our

Sample B: One Sided Paper
Sample C: Two Sided Papers
10. DESIGN PROJECT:
The fishing pole
must be :
1. Strong
2. Flexible
3. Light
Materials we used :
1. Foam
2. Tape
3. Nylon string
12. FINAL PROJECT:
Many people suffer from heavy purses which causes them
pain and discomfort. From that, The Magic Piece provides
the best solution to this problem
The Magic Piece, is a piece that is made of
composite materials which aims to get the
perfect confer for its user
Also, it relieves pressure on the users
shoulders

was used to combine
the other materials
together”
16. THE MAGIC PIECE:
First step
• Nylon was teared into rectangular shape
• Rubber was cut down into smaller pieces that fits
the design
Second
step
• Rubber, Nylon and Memory foam were
compressed using hand grinder and were
combined together with glue
Final
step
• The final touches were added to the Magic Piece
to give it an industrial look .
18. THE MAGIC PIECE:
Try other materials and equipment to give the piece further
characteristic
Commercialize
Using new methods to improve the Magic Piece
19. CONCLUSION
Al-Bairaq project gave us an opportunity to know much about
Composite Materials, which are the perfect solution for any
difficulties that faces the humanity.
Al-Bairaq improved our group work skills, solving problems
and thinking out-side-the-box
20. Many thanks to AL-Bairaq team from Center for Advanced
Materials (CAM), Qatar University and our school for supporting
us during our journey with a AL-Bairaq.
Also, we would like to thank the sponsors UNESCO, Qatar
National Commission, and Shell.
