TEXTBOOK: Materials provided by the teachers.
DATE: Monday 4th, September, 2017
TIMETABLE: Mondays and Thursdays from 15.45 Hrs. to 17.25 Hrs.
TOPIC: Must and mustn’t.
CLASS Nº 5
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
 Students will be able to express obligation using the modal verbs
MUST/MUSTN’T.
 Students will be able to understand and produce speaking, reading and writing
macro-skills.
ROUTINES:
 Greeting with the usual phrase “Yellow, red, green and blue, hello teacher, how are
you? I’m fine, and you? We are OK, thank you.” repeated by the students, teacher
and trainees.
 Writing down the date on the blackboard.
 Asking students about how they are on this day and if there is anybody absent.
Timing: 3 minutes.

WARM UP
The trainee will try to make students aware that for each right, we have
responsibilities. This will be done through an oral discussion in which each student will
have the opportunity to participate and speak aloud his/her opinion. If necessary, the trainee
will use the whiteboard to write down specific words or phrases related to the topic.
• Type of interaction: Teacher – students.
• Macro-skills: Speaking.
• Timing: 5 minutes.
• Materials: Whiteboard.
DEVELOPMENT
First activity: Related to the topic ‘Rights and Responsibilities’, the trainee will give each
student a photocopy in which they will have to match the eight (8) rights with the
corresponding responsibilities, but this time making emphasis on rights and responsibilities
within the classroom. The activity will be done orally, all together and with the help of the
trainee and the whiteboard.
- Example: ‘We have the right to speak our thoughts and opinions’  ‘We have the
responsibility to take turns and to listen to what others have to say’.
• Type of interaction: Teacher – students.
• Macro-skills: Reading and speaking.
• Timing: 15 minutes.
• Materials: Photocopies, whiteboard.
Second activity: The trainee will ask students to work in pairs. After this, the trainee will
give two photocopies to each pair and each photocopy will contain one image that students
will have to use to write their classroom’s rules. One of the images will have to be used to
write a rule using MUST, and the other will have to be used to write another rule using
MUSTN’T. Each photocopy will contain expressions or verbs the students will have to use
when writing the sentences. Before doing the activity, the trainee will explain it with an
example.

-Example: ´We must follow rules and treat others fairly’ – ‘We mustn’t bully or harm
other’.
• Type of interaction: Students individually.
• Macro-skills: Reading and writing.
• Timing: 10 minutes.
• Materials: Photocopies, whiteboard.
CLOSING UP
By the end of the class, the trainee will give students the possibility to read aloud
their productions. In case the activity was not finished, the trainee will ask the students to
finish it as homework for next class. Finally, the trainee will say goodbye to students.

MENTOR TEACHER: Romina Cheme Arriaga. TRAINEES: Monge Ana Valentina and Morán Ana Belén. SCHOOL: Escuela Nº4 ‘Coronel Remigio Gil’. COURSE: 6th grade ‘C’ and ‘D’. TEXTBOOK: Materials provided by the teachers. DATE: Monday 4th, September, 2017 TIMETABLE: Mondays and Thursdays from 15.45 Hrs. to 17.25 Hrs. TOPIC: Must and mustn’t. CLASS Nº 5 LEARNING OBJECTIVES:  Students will be able to express obligation using the modal verbs MUST/MUSTN’T.  Students will be able to understand and produce speaking, reading and writing macro-skills. ROUTINES:  Greeting with the usual phrase “Yellow, red, green and blue, hello teacher, how are you? I’m fine, and you? We are OK, thank you.” repeated by the students, teacher and trainees.  Writing down the date on the blackboard.  Asking students about how they are on this day and if there is anybody absent. Timing: 3 minutes.
  • 2. PRACTICE II, Didactics of ELT and Practicum at Primary School level Monge Ana Valentina & Morán Ana Belén - 2017 2 WARM UP The trainee will try to make students aware that for each right, we have responsibilities. This will be done through an oral discussion in which each student will have the opportunity to participate and speak aloud his/her opinion. If necessary, the trainee will use the whiteboard to write down specific words or phrases related to the topic. • Type of interaction: Teacher – students. • Macro-skills: Speaking. • Timing: 5 minutes. • Materials: Whiteboard. DEVELOPMENT First activity: Related to the topic ‘Rights and Responsibilities’, the trainee will give each student a photocopy in which they will have to match the eight (8) rights with the corresponding responsibilities, but this time making emphasis on rights and responsibilities within the classroom. The activity will be done orally, all together and with the help of the trainee and the whiteboard. - Example: ‘We have the right to speak our thoughts and opinions’  ‘We have the responsibility to take turns and to listen to what others have to say’. • Type of interaction: Teacher – students. • Macro-skills: Reading and speaking. • Timing: 15 minutes. • Materials: Photocopies, whiteboard. Second activity: The trainee will ask students to work in pairs. After this, the trainee will give two photocopies to each pair and each photocopy will contain one image that students will have to use to write their classroom’s rules. One of the images will have to be used to write a rule using MUST, and the other will have to be used to write another rule using MUSTN’T. Each photocopy will contain expressions or verbs the students will have to use when writing the sentences. Before doing the activity, the trainee will explain it with an example.

CLOSING UP By the end of the class, the trainee will give students the possibility to read aloud their productions. In case the activity was not finished, the trainee will ask the students to finish it as homework for next class. Finally, the trainee will say goodbye to students.
