2. To begin with, Bruno Mars’ costume varies in structure by
having vibrant and luminous colors which clearly reflects his
personality as outgoing and fun. Furthermore, it
communicates to the audience that he has confidence. Also,
the use of his jewelry initiates that he is a very stylish
individual and this states that he has a fashionable and
wealthy persona. Next, the location signifies that he is very
mainstream as it’s based in a big American city. This could
potentially highlight how well he is doing in his career which
demonstrates that he is at the top of the list. The high-key
lighting within the video shows that he has a high status
and beholds power. Lastly, the composition of the shots
within the video reveals that Bruno Mars’ is the main figure
as he is always directly in the center of each shot.

3. Within the opening shot, an establishing shot can be observed
demonstrating that Bruno Mars has arrived at that location, this
is further emphasized when we see the private jet’s door
opening up. The use of a low angle shot signifies that he beholds
power and it gives the effect that he is the leader of the group.
Near the closing scene of the music video, a pan is shown in
correlation with a tracking shot to capture where Bruno Mars is
heading. This could symbolize his life and how he get’s followed
around everywhere because of his fame. Overall, in the music
video many of the shots are targeted as being close ups, mid
shots and long shots.

Firstly, the use of slow-motion demonstrates that the artist is having fun
and enjoying life. This can further be implied by the use of this shot being a
long take. Next, the video is clearly depicted in the format of being a
montage. The actions that we see Bruno Mars doing is cut to the beat of
the song which shows that the video is directed and coordinated to it’s
fullest extent. In the music video, the opening sequence shows fast-paced
cuts which helps to introduce the location of the video. In one scene when
Bruno Mars can be seen dancing, the screen shakes/stutters showing that
they are powerful when together. Finally, the use of the text at the
beginning of the music video illustrates wealthy Bruno Mars really is. This is
shown through the gold colored text, as well as the white text to show his
purity. The red lines could foreshadow that he is dangerous as this is heard
to be said by him within the song as the color red has connotations of
danger and death. However, it can also have the connotation of love.

5. Bruno Mars’ star image is perceived by the target audience as very
wealthy and want to come across as having an exotic fashion sense. In
addition, his persona within his music videos recognizes him as having a
very chilled out personality as he is seen to treat everyone equally and
every aspect during his performance flows well together. This allows
the younger target audience to look up to him as he is seen as an idol
within this century. Moreover, he has communicated this star image by
representing himself as a quite diverse character when in the spotlight
by always having different locations within his music videos, costumes,
narrative and mainstream dance routine.
