2. Mise en Scene
Within the music video Amine – Caroline, vibrant/luminous colors are highlighted
within the entirety of the music video. This is to help introduce to the audience
Amine’s persona, which makes him seem like he is a fun and energetic person.
Additionally, Amine is framed in the center of each shot which illustrates his
importance and that he is the star. The color that is widely associated with the artist
is yellow as its shown within his branding and it'll be easier for audiences to
recognize him through that. The location of where the vast majority of the shots
have been filmed are outside and this could be in his favorite spot. Towards the
very end of the music video, we can see that Amine plays video games as we see a
prop Xbox and controllers within a small space. This could also state that Amine
has a wide audience that is into gaming. Amine in comparison to many other artists
lip sync within the music video which is a typical convention of music videos. The
artist also is seen to incorporate a lot of gestures when he is dancing which
could've been done to seem more interactive with the consumers. The costume
that Amine wears is very casual which could yet again link back to how he is a
ordinary person when referring to his personality.
3. Cinematography
In the music video, Amine is always seen to be included within a two shot as he
is always with one of his friends which could link to him being a social person.
The use of the close up at 2:26 within the music video can signify how he and
his friends game all the time which helps him open up to a new audience. The
use of the upside down shot within the music video which is at 2:37 could show
that maybe something isn't right with the artist or that not everything is shown
about his personality and it could emphasize how he is different to everyone
else. From 2:51 – 3:04, the use of the zoom could have been used to show the
characters within the music video. The use of the pan from 2:34 – 2:36 is
transitioned in a sweeping motion which makes the video flow better.
4. Editing
Within the music video, there is some use of slow-motion as we can see from
2:40 – 2:41, that effect is being used and it could emphasize the amount of fun
that they're having and how excited they are to be together. Also, the vast
majority of shots within the music video are short takes in contrast to a few long
shots which showed the unclear narrative. From 0:00 – 0:11, we see a sliding bar
which helps illustrate that they are trying to show it in the form of a film. Also, at
the end of the music video, bright yellow colored text is shown which is used for
the credits as if it were and actual film. The transition for the text that is in place
allows it to rise up so that its out of view to the audience. The music video is also
cut to the beat, but at some points it really emphasizes everything, including the
artist’s emotions. Finally, the footage is edited at a fast pace.
