2. 1) A promotional package for the
release of an album, to include a music
promo video, together with two of the
following three options:
• A (working) website homepage for the band
• A digipak for the album's release
• A magazine advertisement for the digipak
3. What do I need to do?
• I need to create a working website for a
band/artist so the audience can keep up to date
with recent or future happenings.
• I also need to design a digipak for the album
release so I would have to capture my audience's
attention using artwork.
• A magazine advertisement for the digipak would
have to be made to promote the artist.
Depending on the target audience of this
magazine, the digipak can be aimed at a specific
audience.
4. Conventions of an artist website
• I researched homepages of artists from different genres.
• First of all I look at Foxes' website. Foxes' genre is
electronica pop. Pop connotes a lively attitude, happiness
and is more so associated with a female audience. Her
website, is mostly pink and white, suiting the stereotype of
her mostly female listeners.
• She has the conventional nav bar, offering to go to home
page, merch store and videos etc. There are also link at the
top of the page navigating to her Facebook page, Twitter,
YouTube, Tumblr, Spotify, SoundCloud, and Instagram.
Something that is common among artist website are
frequent updates, and sometimes blog posts which Foxes
has. Already, we know of Foxes' digital presence.
5. • Despite the difference is genre, heavy metal
band, Halestorm have similar conventions to
Foxes' when it comes to web design. Both have
nav bars, links to merch stores, blog updates,
photos and videos. The only obvious difference is
the artist, colours and connotation and content.
• Now that I have taken a look at two different
artist from different genres I now know the codes
and conventions of a typical artist website.
6. What is a digipack?
• A digipak is the packaging for a CD, DVD or BD.
• According to my internet research, "Digipaks
typically consist of a gatefold (book-style)
paperboard or card stock outer binding, with
one or more plastic trays capable of holding a
CD or DVD attached to the inside "
9. 2) A short film in its entirety, lasting
approximately five minutes, which
may be live action, animated, or a
combination of both, together
with two of the following three
options:
• A poster for the film
• A radio trailer for the film
• A film magazine review page featuring the film
10. • This task is asking me to explore different way
of advertising the film. Whether it's a poster,
radio trailer or a review to read in a magazine.
No matter on which two I choose, it has to be
captivating to try and push the audience to
watch the film.
11. Film posters of different genres
Western Comedy Action Comedy Drama Romance Psychological Horror
Psychological Horror
12. • I personally have not heard a radio trailer, but
I asked a member of my family if he had. He
said that trailers nowadays are more
enthusiastic and colourful and can make an
engaging story. Where as radio trailers were
‘prim and proper’ and not as exciting.
I would guess that a modern radio trailer
would involve voice acting, sound effects and
music that works with the genre of the film.
