1. The cover has a tree in a black shade over the top of a yellow background. This
gives off a relaxing feeling and an easy to listen to mood. There’s nothing
overly complicated with the cover which also hints to us that the album
contains relaxing and chilled music. Also the image of the singer holding his
guitar beside the tree tells us that he plays his guitar. The shape of the guitar
makes it obvious that he plays an acoustic guitar which once again tells us the
sort of music he plays. The tree symbolises a mango tree, the name of the
studio’s he used to record the album in Hawaii.
On the back of the digipak, it’s not heavily worded which gives off a relaxing
feeling and gives the same effect as the front cover. The images on the front
cover over laps and ends up on the back cover. This is to make sure the back
cover isn’t just the typical dull, boring song title page and has an image which
makes it more eye catching. The reasoning behind using yellow as the default
colour is that it symbolises calmness, a relaxing feeling and is eye catching
which results in more copies being sold.
2. The usage of the guitar on the inside cover is that it
holds the same colours as those used on the front
covers which continues the calm, acoustic and
chilled like theme to the album. The image also
sums up the album in that it consists of him playing
his guitar.
The CD itself holds an image of a leaf on a yellow background which relates to
the front cover. The image of the maple leaf is large and the main focus of the
CD which is eye catching and is different to the front cover which makes it
more fun and exciting. This continues the idea of the singer relaxing by himself
singing.
