2. Front Cover
• Masthead is in large, bold text. In
different shades of purple, matches
with the name of the magazine –
“The Purple Blurb”.
• “Blurb” - vertical. Edgy.
• The main image is black and white.
Makes the image appear more
dramatic and does not drown out
the text.
• Image of guy playing guitar – a
music-centric magazine.
• The model is using direct mode of
address and looking into the
camera – makes the magazine feel
more personal and relatable for
readers.
• Theme of purple; same font
throughout.
• “Celebrating Black History” – main
headline, at the top. Makes the
college seem diverse, positive
reputation.
3. Contents page
• The contents page is not
particularly aesthetically pleasing
but is very straightforward. There is
very little consistency - the fonts
sizes vary too much and some
images are in black and white
whereas one is in colour. This gives
the page a more amateur
appearance than a professional
one.
• Information on how readers can
submit their own articles - giving
readers a platform and a voice,
more active.
• Content of the magazine is very
diverse - not just all music or all
fashion. A bit of everything for
everyone.
