3. The Masthead
• The masthead quality is poor for the target
audience that I’m aiming for. This is because
the masthead is dull and the font style is made
for an older generation of people. I also
believe that the font style des not match the
genre of the magazine as it very neutral and
one wouldn't imagine this to be linked to the
theme of Western and Country music.
4. Photography
• The image used on the front cover of this
magazine is not original and I would imagine
that it was taken some time in the 1950s. The
photograph is a medium close up and the
model is looking straight into the camera . The
background is blurred to emphasize the
expression and the costume of the model.
5. Text on the front cover
• There are 2 cover stories on the front cover of
this magazine. I notice the lack of pugs on this
magazine however a sell line is included,
“From Austin to Nashville and beyond”. This
appeals to the target audience as it gives
locations that are infamous in the world of
country music which will make the user believe
that the magazine is closely associated with
that area.
6. Representations
• The costume of the model is representative of
the “golden age” of country music which will
be a time that the majority of the target
audience will remember and have keen
memories of. This will further increase the
appeal to the target audience.
