The document discusses various film distribution companies and provides information about each, including the types of films they have distributed. It notes that major production companies like Universal Pictures have much larger budgets than independent production companies. This allows major companies to have wider releases and distribute films internationally, while independent films usually just distribute locally or nationally. The document also discusses the target audiences of the distribution companies, which are generally young adults and older due to the content of the films. A few companies also distribute children's films.

Production company- New Line Cinema in association with SC Entertainment and this is a
major production company, which means they will have a much bigger budget than an
independent film production. Also, they can afford to pay more distribution companies so
there film will be shown in as many places as possible.
Target Audience: Again, most of these film distributors focus on distributing films that
have a target audience of young adults and up due to the varying films in the horror,
action and comedy genre. Distribution companies such as ‘Bac Films’ and ‘Entertainment
in Video’ however, show that they also distribute films that work with children as
Cinderella 3D and Spy Kids have been listed.
Beyond Clueless – Self distributed.
Produced by Charlie Lyne (not a major production company). This means that this film
will not have had as much funding as a film with a major production company. It will
also usually not be as of a good standard in terms of the four technical codes. However
some independently distributed and produced films, if they have the funding, can
sometimes compete with the major international films.
My Chosen Distributor: Universal Studios Home
Entertainment
This film distributor is a subsidiary of NBCUniversal. This company doesn’tjust
own film distribution companies, but it is also the owner of severaldifferent
television production companies, motion picture companies, operates
American television networks, and is involved in the production and marketing
of entertainment, news and information products. Italso owns theme parks.
I think that UniversalStudios Home Entertainment would be interested in
distributing my film because they have distributed various other dramas such
as Endless Love, About Time, Homefront, as well as smaller scale budget films
such as End of Watch, The Carrier and Hyde Park on Hudson. The fact that they
will distribute smaller scale films and not justblockbusters is the prime reason
to why I think they would be interested in distributing my film. Furthermore,
they also distributeother genres of film, so if I were to subtly include
characteristics fromother genres into mine, this shouldn’tchange their choice
of distributing my film.
