The stages to creating a magazine include:
1) Developing an initial concept or theme,
2) Developing editorial and graphic content like articles, pictures, and illustrations,
3) Designing the graphic layout of each page and advertising,
4) Sending a draft copy to editors for proofing,
5) Making necessary changes to the final proof like color editing and font adjustments,
6) Printing and distributing copies to newsstands and subscribers.
2. What are the stages to creating a
magazine?

Content Development: Editorial and Graphic Concepts (Inc. Pictures
and Illustrations)

Final Proof: Necessary Changes are Made (Such as Colour Editing

News-Stands and Subscribers
3. Roles of a Distributor
A Distributor works on behalf of the Magazine Publisher whereby a newspaper
tends to both Publisher and manages its distribution to reach the Market. Their
main role is to provide their publisher with clients. They also ensure that the
flow of information is working between the publisher and consumer. Distributors
represent, promote and sell the magazine to retailers so the customers can
purchase them. There are several Distribution Deals that the Publisher has to
make with the Distributor before they agree to the product.
(This chart shows how the magazine moves from a publisher to a consumer and how each chain interacts with the next)
4. Distributors
For my magazine I have decided that a company like ‘Inter-Media’ will distribute my magazine as
they do distribute magazines similar in genre to mine (however not necessarily music magazines)
but horror, thriller and sci-fi related articles – which is primarily what my target audience would be
into.
They also ship and sell magazines to world wide and local destinations in newsstands to achieve
the best selling points for my magazine and sell my product so that I would achieve cost
efficiency and maximum impact.
Inter-Media offer tailored services which could help make my magazine more personal and fitting
to the genre and are not limited to one channel or price point.
Inter-Media also enables my magazine to be available in many different forms such as online,
physical or as a digital version. Monthly subscriptions delivered straight to the customer’s door is
also a great way to increase sales.
They regularly put on exhibitions to help magazine brands interact with their customers and
organize the entire thing so the brand can focus on creating new issues.
5. Distributor Overview
I think that Inter-Media would want my magazine as it is similar to one of the
ones that they already distribute. My magazine is for a genre that is becoming
increasingly popular in todays young adult society, so they could also benefit
from the sales.
Even though they are already distributing a magazine similar in genre to mine,
the other magazine is not a music magazine. But a magazine for TV shows
and movies.
