Information Literacy and Scholarship, Practice, and...
Information Literacy and Scholarship, Practice, and Leadership in IT Management
R. Dannels
University of Phoenix
IT (Information Technology) management entails all the routine issues faced by any type of
business manager in addition to the issues of software development, technology purchasing (not
necessarily physical items), systems integration, the limits of technology and the related budgetary
issues. General information literacy is important for any level of IT manager, as he or she needs to
communicate successfully using many different modes, media, and technology with all types of IT
workers, upper management, and technology product vendors. IT management also entails
leadership of projects or departments. Information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sheer volume of information of all types is ever increasing, making the job of IT manager more
difficult. To remain competent, IT managers must keep up with the latest trends and new
technologies. The evaluation of new technology is another skill related to information literacy,
since the information describing such technology can take many forms. The best IT managers are
highly skilled in such evaluations. These effective managers seem to be rare, as found in Li (2009).
That study found that to deal with the difficulties of IT management, many organizations used
encroachment, to save face for executives by simplifying and deflecting harmful results and
analysis. This spreads the managerial blame and deals with the well documented fact (every
computer science student is taught this) that over 60% of all technology projects fail and software
development projects in particular fail even more frequently. The reasons for the failure of such
projects include the incompetence of IT management (Toader et al., 2010). This is increasingly
exemplified by the inability to communicate effectively with workers of foreign origin and incorrect
evaluations of technology. The lost revenue of software projects is a huge number and that problem
is not getting better. Since dealing with cross cultural management and the evaluation of new
technology are skills learned in information literacy, the lack of formal information literacy classes

What Makes Architecture Real
Project Report:
Jon 9. Grade
Architecture
Architecture is a word of common knowledge, as I think it should and is at least for the people
around me that i know. For me the word is always associated with architect, because an architect is
the one who makes architecture real. Architecture as people understand it nowadays probably came
to life with the species homo sapiens because they are self conscious, before it was just a very
primitive thing. You could say DNA is an architect because it builds, in fact it is probably the best
and wisest architect humans know of, therefore we are also architecture because anything that is
built and is physical can be architecture by definition even Wikipedia states that. This is is all very
philosophical.
All form of art are connected with philosophy and so is architecture. Architecture is considered art,
plus everything that involves with it like the process of designing.
Architecture was the first art form on this planet, everything existing is in reality architecture,
noone never said architecture had to be created by a conscious being. If universe just came into
existence, therefore nothingness itself is an architect.
Therefore nothingness could be conscious, just vacuum or something more. ... Show more content

Nowadays building are not that practical anymore, there have been buildings just for the show
like the Eiffel tower. In fact there have been buildings just for show since the beginning of first
civilizations. Temples for gods, pyramids for pharaos, arcs for victorious battles. Still architecture
has to stay practical and efficient, if not, we could not support 7 billion people on this earth. For
example building a house which fits 5 families inside comfortably when it could as well fit in 15
families same comfortably with the same amount of effort put in. In other words not doing anything

Tim Hortons Artifact Sample
To Curate my artifact the first thing I did was focus on the image of the Tim Hortons cup and the
double double . However, I did not want to just focus on the double double itself I wanted to
curate Tim Hortons image as whole. Which is why I chose to have images of inside Tim Hortons,
while also showing the brown and plain aesthetic that Tim Hortonshas. Also, I wanted to feature
taste which is extremely hard to represent in a digital format. For that part of my exhibit I got some
quotes on what people think Tim Hortons coffeetastes like. In addition to that, I also found an
article which explained the process on how Tim Hortons Develops it s coffee. It gives an
interesting perspective on how big fast foodbrands go about developing their... Show more content

Firstly, as far as image goes I cannot literally produce a physical representation of a TIm Hortons
cup. The best I could do is pictures of what it looked like at the time. Secondly, while I can show
images of the inside a Tim Hortons I can not show the atmosphere of a Tim Hortons. For
instance, how busy the morning rush is with a line of people trying to get coffee. Or how you
see a group of retired people having a daily discussion at lunch time over coffee. There s only so
much that can be done on the medium of digital curation. Consequently, there are also some key
issues when trying to curate the taste of something online. Because you can say what something
taste like and be very descriptive. Ultimately, you can t truly appreciate what something tastes
like until you have actually tasted it. Lastly, while I can present in words the cultural impact that
Tim Hortons and the double double has it can t be fully represented unless you have seen it. For
example, it s hard to picture how much influence Tim Hortons has had unless you see people
with Tim s cups everyday at your university or at your place of work. By in large I feel like a did an
admirable job of curating my artifact in a deep way that can hopefully give those that don t know
about Tim Hortons at least a glimpse into how they captured the views and values of an entire

The Inspiration Of Elvis Presley And The American Dream
When one thinks of Elvis Presley, he or she may think of the line I m all shook up, his signature
white flamboyant jumpsuit, or his stereotypical movies. However, Elvis was much more than a
singer, he was an influence and an inspiration that paved the way for a new era of music as well
as an age of acceptance. He can be considered one of the greatest musicians of all time not only
because he won countless awards and honors, but because he also helped to merge African and
Caucasian America, represented the American dream, and inspired many other successful
musicians. Elvis s excessive popularity resulted in countless awards and honors in not only his
music career but also for his acting and charity work. He sold more than one billion... Show more

This is believed to be what inspired him to become a white man with the Negro sound and the
Negro feel. ( Elvis Presley Biography ) Early in his career, it was discovered that he could perform
blues songs while also keeping his southern roots. This unique blend of styles along with Elvis s
popularity became a catalyst for a musical revolution. Black music needed to be introduced by a
white artist in order to appeal to an audience outside of the African Americancommunity, and Elvis
was the one who could do it (McKeen). He had the charisma, the charm, the look, and the moves.
During the rise of his fame, Elvis was invited to be on Milton Berle s Variety Show. On his
second appearance, his promiscuous dance moves, mostly involving the gyrating of his hips,
deemed him inappropriate for audiences by CBS. This prompted Elvis to only be televised from
the waist up, which in turn built anticipation for his shows. He was sexual, sensual, rude, and the
best thing to happen in years. (Partridge, 26) He would also become friends with African
American artists who he would then endorse at public events, concerts, interviews, and television
appearances. This helped to spread African American music to primarily Caucasian areas of the
country. The use of the radio had a massive impact on this spread, it even helped Elvis develop his
interest in the African American sound. When Elvis was growing up, segregation laws were
enforced. Schools, seats on

Reflection Paper On Restless Leg Syndrome
Chronic Disease Analytical Reflection Paper Introduction to Restless Leg Syndrome Willis
Ekbom Disease, commonly referred to as restless leg syndrome is a disorder of the nervous
sensory system that causes an uncomfortable urge to move the legs as defined by Sales,
Sanghera, Klocko, and Malcom (2016). These symptoms are majorly observed in the evening or
during nighttime when one assumes a resting position in bed. Consequently, they cause
difficulties in falling asleep. The interference in sleep makes resting leg syndrome be classified
as a sleep disorder. The symptom of resting leg syndrome may also appear when one is
undertaking a long rest during the day, travelling or even watching a movie (NIH, 2017).

Aesthetic Aspect People with a sedentary lifestyle, mostly the citizens of highly developed
countries, are known to take part in activities with less energy requirement and eat fat food.
Thus, there rises a need to encourage citizens to do daily exercises to reduce chances of
developing sedentary disorders. Socio political Aspect Alcohol and drug abuse are known to
aggravate the symptoms of multifactorial diseases. Washington and Zweber (2008) state that
alcohol is known to interfere with the pharmacokinetics, as well as the pharmacodynamics of
numerous drugs, including those used in the treatment of diabetes. Reduced effectiveness of the
drugs may aggravate the conditions. Finally, alcohol is known to penetrate the blood brain barrier
and thus, have an effect on the central nervous system. The governments thus need to tighten
laws that discourage citizens against drug usage. Personal Aspect With reduced quality of sleep
caused by restless leg syndrome, ethical problems appear, such as lack of concentration at work
place, as well as drowsiness during a social gathering. As a result, they may lead to reduced self
esteem of an individual suffering from restless leg syndrome. Ethical Aspect Similarly,
hyperactivity brought about by restless leg syndrome may compromise relationship between the
patient and his close associates including his workmates or people at his work place,

Globalization And Doing Business In Australia

Define what is meant by Global Business. Identify the stages in the phase model of globalisation
and explain the strengths and weaknesses inherent in each. Approximately 60% of all small
businesses in Australia will close in the first three years of opening, 33% of these traders will
close due to trading loses. Ways businesses can stay financially stable is by competing globally.
Global business is the buying and selling of goods in an international marketplace. Global business

When buying into the company you sign a contract to firstly buy into the company, and then you
have to pay royalties and a certain percentage of your earnings back to the head company. A
positive of franchise agreements is that it allows companies to enter into the foreign market
place with out having to put too much money into it. For example, 7 elevens in Australia are all
franchises, the fist few franchises in Australia would have been set up as an experiment to see
whether the Australian public would embrace the new chain store. The feedback would have
been that Australia was pro 7 eleven and now you can walk through the city without seeing one
on every corner. Another positive of selling your company as a franchise is that you can earn
royalties. Different franchises have different royalty schemes, many expect you to pay a certain
fee for the name each year and then pay them a percentage of the earnings. 7 eleven was taking 51

Enterprise Technologies And The Value Chain
Enterprise Technologies and the Value Chain
The purpose of this paper is to understand enterprise technology and how it is used properly to be
able to help manage the value chain of a company. Enterprise technology Enterprise technology,
information, and infrastructure refers to the concept of information technology (IT) resources and
data that are shared across an enterprise.. IT part is the main focus of Enterprise technology, but
there is a much broader spectrum that is rarely thought of.In this paper I will focus on some of the
programs used to help manage the value chain (Enterprise Technology).
According to Porter and Miller (1985:150), the concept of the value chain divides a company s

have improved operations at companies of all sizes and helped turn small local businesses into
global businesses, helped companies to create greater revenue by minimizing debt, and increase
productivity. Because the use of technology has become so common, programmers have recognized
this need and have developed software to help companies to implement their plan.
The focus of AxiCom within the value chain is to keep a balanced approach. They use the technical

Eleanor Roosevelt as a Leader
Heroes and leaders have long had a popular following in literature and in our own imaginations.
From Odysseus in ancient Grecian times to May Parker in Spider man Two, who states, We need
a hero, courageous sacrificing people, setting examples for all of us. I believe there s a hero in all
of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble (Raimi, 2004). Organizations need
heroes, too. We call them organizational leaders. The study of organizational leadership, then, is
really the study of what makes a person a successful hero. Or, what processes, constructs, traits,
and dynamics embody the image of a successful leader. One very successful leader, who was also a
hero in the popular press, was Eleanor Roosevelt.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
27). One relationship leaders develop is a hierarchical group of followers, with an in group
getting better assignments, more communication, and a higher level of regard than the outer
group. Her in group followers were a few female reporters. Two women in particular, Lorena
Hickok and Nancy Cook, became close friends and often stayed with Eleanor on the Roosevelt
estate. These women demonstrate that attitudinal similarity is an important influence on leader
follower interactions (Pierce and Newstrom, 2008, p. 27) since they shared Eleanor s desire to
embrace women as equal members of society. Eleanor Roosevelt also exemplifies the concept of
trust leadership. As a somewhat radical First Lady, she targeted women with her media
campaign. Women, who worked inside the home, often isolated from others in rural areas,
accepted this new version of their First Lady and became her in group. As she gained their trust
with radio broadcasts and her daily column, My Day, she then intrigued a larger audience, mostly
male, to accept her as a social and political leader (Eleanor Roosevelt, n.d.) (Pierce and
Newstsrom, 2008, p.29). Unlike her husband, who led the nation by virtue of his office, The First
Lady led the nation by virtue of her relationship with others; their trust, their psychological ties, and
their acceptance of her as an equal in the political arena. How did Eleanor

A Proposal For A Resume
The purpose of this proposal is to gain permission to continue researching the topic of how to
build a resume, what stands out to employers, and what will disqualify a resume. This proposal
introduces the topic by discussing the problem and providing a solution. It will also provide the
scope of the report, the research methods, my qualifications, my work plan to complete the report,
and a draft of the reports table of contents.
Introduction
How to create a resume is not a skill that is taught very often anymore but it is a skill that is
expected. Expecting people to create a resume when they have no clue how to does not work.
Often people will find a template from the internet or word but employers can tell if a person
uses a template. Those templates give suggestion to what to fill in but people who either don t
have much work experience, are shy about their skills, or simply do not know what to put down
are at loss to what they should be putting down and what they should not. This report will address
how to avoid those issues.
Statement of Problem
Creating and having a resume is something that is expected of people in today s society but rarely
are people actually taught how to create a resume. High school is suppose to prepare the youth for
the world but how to create a resume is something that is not taught in any of the classes that a
student is required to take. There are templates online or in word but often students/people have no
clue what to actually put in

1960 s Rocket History

As of 2017, the United States of America is still the only country in the world to put men on the
moon due to the many rockets they made during the 1960 s. These rockets were some
revolutionary pieces of technology during the 1960 s because America went from almost nothing
on rockets to men on the moon. But there are some rockets that outshone the others because those
rockets did great things or they came back from near extinction. The U.S. space program made
many different types of rockets during the 1960 s, but the best type of rockets were the Delta
rockets, the Atlas rockets, and the Saturn rockets.

Intertextuality Interlace Stories In The Hakawati
The Hakawati utilizes the intertextuality interlace stories which are popular in the real world
such as Arab/Persian tale of Qays and Layla. This story is about a young man who loves a
woman whose father prohibits their marriage. Unfortunately, this young woman is married to
another man and dies far away from Qays. At this point, Qays roams the earth missing her as
Majnun, the crazy one. Similarly in The Hakawati, Layl and Shams fall in love, but Layl and
Shams are of the same sex (male). Layl disappears and Shams goes insane when he misses him

Spanish American Slavery
Spain and Britain treated the Native Americans like slaves and participated in the slave trade.
Nevertheless, the Spanish government prohibited Florida Indians to be slaves since it was the
law and it was practiced in other spanish colonies. The governors of Florida and its religious
leaders allowed the Hispanic colonists oppressed Indians to do labor for little or no wages.
Many Native Americans were badly treated, poorly fed, and died because of forced labor. St.
Augustine was mostly built by Indians with forced labor. There were slaves in Florida, but not
as many in England s Carolina colony where there were twice as many Africans as whites.
Spanish law treated slaves differently than English law. In the law of the English, a slave was
property that could be bought, sold, and punished possibly even to death, without any legal or
civil rights. English wives were treated as property of their husbands. Spanish law perceived
slaves as wretched people who still had legal rights, could sue their owners in court, and could
own property. Both men and women slaves could petition the Spanish King. The law permitted
slaves to purchase their freedom and to attain the rights of all the King s free subjects. In Florida,
the Spanish government gave freedom to escaped slaves from England s American colonies if they
converted to the Catholic faith and get recruited in the colonial military. St. Augustine had a free
African settlement and Black slaves who liberated from the English

A Profound Southern American Catholic Novelist, By...
A profound Southern American Catholic novelist, Flannery O Connor concealed her true spiritual
intentions into many of her grotesque stories. Many of her writings involve a tale of a displaced
person that is eventually lead to redemption and mercy from God. Through plenty of hardships and
mistakes, her protagonists endure a spiritual transformation that leads her characters into
enlightenment. O Connor weaves blatant instances of sacramentality, mediation, communion,
mercy, and humandignityinto the development of each of her stories. O Conner revealed
sacramentality in thousands of examples throughout her literary marks of genius. In Wise
Blood, Hazel s car exposed sacramentality as a symbol of himself. The car s beat up, rugged state
and unreliable features mirrored Hazel s own broken down spirituality. When the car broke
down on the side of the road, Hazel proclaimed, This is a good car, Mister! This car can take me
anywhere I wanna go! (film). He argued that the well built car could not break down due to its
prime initial quality. His connection with the car resembled a part of himself. The car served as
Hazel s longed for home, podium, and sanctuary; the vehicle even provided him a place to sleep.
Also, he found a homebased security atop of his car when he preached about the Church Without
Christ. Hazel even declared, Nobody with a good car needs to be justified (film). He used his car to
steer himself, literally, away from the truth of God. Hazel tried to

Word Choice In Elie Wiesel s Night
In the story Night the author Elie Wiesel uses word choice to show the reader all the despair that
he was witnessed since he entered the concentration camp. This is important to the narrative as a
whole because it develops the the reader s understanding the character s internal conflict after what
he s witnessed. This also connects back to the theme of dehumanization. When Elie and his father
were walking towards the fire pit he thinks to himself My heart was about to burst. There I was

thoughts. The author communicates to the reader that he is close to death and is scared of dying

A Literature Review on Pertinent Imaging Findings for Lumbar Disc Pathology What these
Images Are Holding to Guide in Physical Therapy Treatments Physical therapists provide a multi

include manual therapy, lumbar stabilization, yoga, swimming and traction. Depending on the
stage and severity of disk pathology, it is mostly a therapist s preference when it comes to what

However, there are some important concepts such as avoidance of axial loading when
prescribing exercises to patients with disc pathology as this is strongly related to degenerative
changes although there is no gold standard tool for measuring lumbar compression load (Hung,
Y.J.et al., 2014). Hours spent sitting significantly increased the prevalence of disc herniation.
Sitting is also associated with loss of the lumbar lordosis, intervertebral disc (IVD) compression,
and height loss, possibly increasing the risk of lower back pain (Fryer, J.C., Quon, J. A., Smith,
F. W. (2010). Hence, offering variable positions when exercising patients best minimizes seated
exercises. Little is known about the correlation between the extent of disc herniation and clinical
signs and symptoms, neither were there any reported correlation between improvement in
functions nor the pain reduction as visually reported, other than the reduction in sizes of disc
herniation among the four segment levels (L2 L3 = n 6, L3 L4 n=17, L4 L5 n= 51 c, and L5 S1
n= 4), indicative of morphological regression of herniated disk during their repeated MR as
reported by the research of Unlu, Tasci, Tarhan, Pabuscu, Islak in 2008. Hence, physical assessment

Socioeconomic Diversity Of Colleges And Universities Essay
In today s world where the population, especially of the United States, is growing gloriously
diverse, institutions of higher education must also reflect this aspect in their student body. The
purpose of colleges and universities is to provide students with the education and experience they
need to succeed after graduating as well as expand their thoughts and perspectives. Thus, they must
create and maintain a similar environment in which students will live and work in the future.
Although diversity has been emphasized as a priority for many schools, socioeconomic diversity
is often disregarded. However, socioeconomic diversity plays an important role in developing the
perspectives and minds of students. Thus, it is essential for the admission offices, especially of
prestigious universities like the Universityof Pennsylvania, to recruit and admit more economically
disadvantaged students as well as for the schools to meet the needs of and maintain those students.
Diversity has been an ongoing topic of discussion in the higher education setting. However, these
conversations had always placed focus on race, gender, and religion; socioeconomic status tends
to be overlooked (Ma, 2013). Ma (2013) found that discourse about socioeconomic diversity is
neglected because many Penn students do not feel comfortable revealing their family s income or
financial aids. Additionally, social class is not as externally apparent as race or gender. Thus, it
was pushed aside and ignored in

of a young man named Nick Adams as he traverses the Michigan countryside. Initially, it appears as
though Nick is simply partaking in a peaceful, solitary fishing trip, but as the story progresses it
becomes apparent that this trip has a hidden purpose behind it. Occasional erratic actions in Nick s
behavior show that he is constantly attempting to suppress a deep internal turmoil. Though
Hemingway never blatantly articulates that Nick is a soldier returning from the war, minute details
such as Nick s short, action driven thoughts convey a sense that he is emotionally and mentally

All of his actions are calculated and orderly, much like a soldier s would be, showing that he is

thought was close to surfacing, he would quickly dismiss it or find a distraction such as
drinking coffee, Nick drank the coffee, the coffee according to Hopkins. The coffee was bitter.
Nick laughed. It made a good ending to the story. His mind was starting to work. He knew he
could choke it because he was tired enough. He spilled the coffee out of the pot and shook the

over the course of this very long trip to suppress his memory and imagination almost entirely . . .
Nick has mastered what Hemingway later calls the greatest gift a soldier can acquire, the ability
to suspend your imagination and live completely in the very second of the present minute with no

Heavy Price of Defense Spending Cuts by Victor Davis Hanson
Renowned historian and classicist scholar Victor Davis Hanson s January 11, 2012 commentary
entitled Heavy Price of Defense Spending Cuts: Nations That Choose Butter over Guns Atrophy
and Die warrants a thoughtful analysis of its merits and shortcomings by U.S. military officers
entrusted with leading this nation s youth while implementing our national strategy. Hanson s 2012
premise, albeit over two years old today, is immediately discernible: America faces devastating self
inflicted wounds by implementing the current Administration s defense spending budget. The
dawn of 2014 finds this debate ongoing and the implementation of this budget well in progress,
with even more drastic cuts taking effect than the ones analyzed by Hanson previously. While few
historians of repute would argue against the reality that the siren song of defense reductions has
lured the nation onto the shoals of unpreparedness for future conflict many times in the past, two
shortcomings in Hanson s piece beckon us to pause and reexamine. First, Hanson appeals to the
dignity of the American character by the psychologically compelling assertion many Americans
would probably prefer a new frigate manned by highly trained youth to discourage our enemies,
rather than another Solyndra like investment or a nearly $1 trillion stimulus. Even if this is so, a
critical evaluation of his self described probability raises the question of relevance to his premise.
What is deemed best for national

Most of the world can be viewed through the television. Educational programs are aired. News

violent programs portrayed. Violencein all aspects of the media has drawn public attention with
practically every novel type of media entertainment (Slotsve et al., 2008). With children being the
main audience, this is a topic that has become highly debatable. Over the years more and more
cases have come to light alleging televisionis the culprit to violence. Beginning in 1994, a three

Television Study, evaluated violence on the television (Slotsve et al., 2008). Through this study, a
trend between violent and belligerent antisocial behavior was documented (Slotsve et al., 2008).
The violence portrayed on the television can create footprints in the child s mind. The paths
become a link to abnormal behavior patterns. In addition, the Surgeon General s Program of
Research also identified a contributory linking between televised violence and antisocial behavior
with children being more affected (Slotsve et al., 2008). The question still remains, is television a
root for violent behavior?
There are a few neurological effects that have been associated with long durations of televisions
viewing.

The Petrodollar System
From the Gold Standard
To Black Gold
By: Gibson J.T.
Intro
Behind the global power of the U.S. dollar, hides the most significant form of currency you ve
probably never heard of, the Petrodollar. The word Petrodollar was coined by the Egyptian
economist Ibrahim Oweiss, as a way to describe how oil producing and exporting countries were
accounting for oil units outside of the regular money supply. While the Petrodollar may not be a
commonly used term, I would agree with Economist Jerry Robinson when describing it as, the most
brilliant [series of] political economic moves in recent history... [being] the fabric that holds our
[U.S.] economy together . As the major cornerstone for the U.S. S economic prosperity and
international hegemony, following the change of the Bretton Woods Systemto the Petrodollar
system in 1971; I ve found the largest independent factor to influence American international
interests has been the implementation and preservation of the Petrodollar.
Petroleum politics have been an increasingly important aspect of diplomacy since the rise of the
Petroleum industry in the middle east in the early 20th century.

What Is A Rite Of Passage Essay
Rites of Passage
Kyle Routledge: 15358322
Dr. Fraser G. McNeill
Friday 6th March
Anthropology: Rites of passage We have to be able to grow up. Our wrinkles are our medals of
the passage of life. They are what we have been through and who we want to be. (Hutton, n.d.)
Rites of Passage are an inevitable event that will occur throughout a person s life. Some examples
of these would be leaving University to join the new job you ve acquired or even just moving to a
new neighbourhood where you now need to make new friends.
In order to understand an essay on rites of passage one must first know the answer to the following
question: What is a rite of passage?
A rite of passage can be defined as rites which accompany every change of ... Show more content on

Once this had been completed the matric students attitudes changed immediately and they began
speaking to us as they would to any other student. From that day onwards high school was just as
it was for anyone else, we had to attend all our classes as normal and dress in the correct uniform
etc.
In conclusion life is a rite of passage. The only certainty we have is that we will all experience
them and once we have gone through the phases of a rite of passage we will never be the same
person. You will always in some way or another experience a change in your life through the
experience and even though the journey may not always be an easy one there is inevitably some
form of growth and learning to be gained.

Praxis Project Analysis
For This semester everyone in class was expected to participate in a praxis project as our final
project this semester. When i first heard of the assignment my reaction at first was confusion
because I ve never heard of this type of project before. Once the the directions were explained the
goal was simple, each individual had to pick a cause they felt passionate about and they had to
either inform, or bring awareness towards that cause. For my praxis project i decided to go out and
spread awareness toward autism and to inform others about autism sense this past mont was autism
awareness month. The idea to use this topic as my project stemmed from the fact that i currently
work with this specific group of individuals already, my degree that... Show more content on

Let s start from the beginning actually coming up with an idea of for this project. The project
that s being presented was not the original plan at first, there were many ideas that came up that i
pondered and tried to start but could never keep interest in it. After filtering through POLS 295
1 ideas for the whole semester and endless amounts of frustration the month of April came about.
April is autism awareness month, and because i work with children who are on the autism
spectrum my school and i decided to take the whole month april and spread awareness. My
entire sight wore blue for april we made signs and put them up throughout the school, sense we
share schools with a Gen Ed school. The school also wrote a letter to the news and we took a
photo with signs and banners that the kids helped to make. In doing all this with my site and
seeing how much fun we had doing this, spreading this cause, i decided to take this same idea and
use it towards my project. ! Now that we understand where the idea came from i can now talk about
the efforts that went into this project. This part of the project became a little tricky because of the
abundance of information that there is on this topic, but also because often times the websites you

Thunder roared outside the safety of the house. Lightning blinded. I looked around for Sylvanas

them. They reached for their bags and hustled at the small cottage, knowing that they weren t

were well hidden, living on a ranch and tending to crops in the nowhere of Texas until the Horde
figured out that they had Alliance adventurers in the nearby area.
Syl had opened the door into the garage and led us in. She acted as the mother of the group, even
though we were the same age. The kids walked up to the hearthstone, a magical stone that brought
anyone to anywhere they tied it to, rather rapidly due to the situation. Once, we had circled the
stone, Syl had us put our hands on the stone. The stone s cold, hard surface was our salvation in that
situation. I spoke the incantation with regret and the hearthstone reacted by glowing and humming.
I resented going back to the Alliance but I had no other hope to save the kids. Slowing but surely

Medical Tourism is used to represent obtaining medical or surgical services while travelling or

Economic Effects Of The Great Recession
The United States suffered its worst recession in the postwar period between the years
December 2007 and June 2009. Every sector of the United States economy was severely
affected. Many people became unemployed. Though macroeconomists had predicted a stable
economy, the Great Recession happened. Policy makers such as Congress became responsible
for the economy s recovery. The Great Recession had lots of effects. Recession involves a fall in
Gross Domestic Product (GDP). GDP is the total value of both goods and services produced
within a country. When a country s GDP falls, there is lower income for people living in the
country. This results in high costs of living and increase in poverty. Many people lost their jobs.

The Federal Reserve s main purpose is to ensure price stability. It also helps the economy maintain
its maximum rate of employment. When the economy falls, the rate of unemployment increases. To
avoid this, the Federal Reserve lowers its interest rates hence encouraging investment and
employment. Consumers can spend more hence lowering the rate of unemployment. Spending
programs such as Unemployment Insurance, Medicaid, and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance
Program were important during the recession. These government programs offer highly effective
reactions to curb the recession. The programs offer income to certain groups of people. Fiscal
policy, which involves a reduction in taxes and increasing government spending, help stimulate the
economy. Tax cuts which focus on lower income people prove helpful. This is because the lower
income people are more likely to spend whatever they get compared to those with high income.
This helps boost the economy. Congress also plays a part in the recovery of the economy, even
though it takes time. The spending programs offer a more automatic response. Congress authorizes
policies which help boost the economy. Congress may increase funding to the

Red Star Research Paper
When gazing upon the night sky, there are many small shining lights. Though these small lights
are actually large balls of gas. These star s small appearance are simply due to the fact that they
are extremely far away from earth which makes us wonder what happens to them. As technology
progresses so does the discovery of science. Being able to observe the stars more efficiently, it is
discovered that stars goes through their own cycle of life, starting from birth to death.
Before a star is born, massive clouds of dust and gas are pulled together by gravity in space,
called a stellar nebula. These massive clouds are pulled to the center of the collapse into a number

Warrantless Searches
How Do We Justify Warrantless Searches?
1)Law enforcement officers can conduct warrantless searches for a variety of reasons. Some of
the benefits are not having to wait for a judge of magistrate to sign off on it. If you can obtain
consent from an individual it must be voluntary and stay within its scope, as well as the person
giving consent must have the authority to do so. The search incident to lawful arrest exception is
used every time an officer makes an arrest, this is to ensure their safety, prevent escape, and
prevent destruction of evidence. This could be a body search, or a search within the area within a
person s immediate control. Police may use warrantless searches when exigent circumstances
arise, such as when a warrant may be impractical, useless, dangerous, or unnecessary. These
include danger of physical harm to officer or destruction of evidence, searches in hot pursuit of
dangerous suspects, danger to a third person, and driving while intoxicated. Police can also use the
special needs beyond law enforcement exception for public school searches, testing students for
drugs, airport searches and searches of probationers and parolees.
2)To balance an individual s rights against the 4th amendment, as well as protect the interests of

Persuasive Essay On Fentanyl
Once more, the lives of Canadians are being claimed by addiction and overdose of a new drug in
the streets. For those of you who don t know what fentanyl is, it s a powerful opioid, 100 times
stronger than morphine, that is often prescribed to help patients manage moderate to severe pain.
As a highly addictive substance, many are now dependent on it, and it is one of the most frequent
causes of drug overdose. Readily available for purchase online are quantities of pure fentanyl from
China, but when improperly diluted in clandestine labs, it can lead to an immediate overdose.
Recently, an antidote for opioid overdose called naloxonehas become available without
prescription, so that anyone can use it. Fentanyl has become a severe problem in the past few
years, and while we yet to find a way to eliminate dependence on this drug, we must keep those
who use it safe.
Developed in 1959 by a Belgian chemist, Fentanyl came into widespread use in the mid 1990s as
a painkiller and anesthetic. With the widespread availability of this drug as a common prescription,
it s not difficult to understand how easy it is to become dependant on. Here begins the problem, for
once their prescriptions run out, people need to buy drugs off the street to feed their addictions.
Now, buying drugs off the street can be incredibly dangerous, as drugs produced in illegal labs
without a way to control dosage can be deadly. This is an especially big issue with fentanyl,
because of its potency; A few hundred

While pregnant, mothers undergo a barrage of questions and mandates from mere strangers tips and
advice about parenting. The focus of parenting also places emphasis on a child s character
development based on the parent s interaction in their natural environment. Alfred Bandura, a social
cognitive psychologist, proposed the Social Learning Theory to explain the phenomenon of
assimilation through observation. In his famous Bobo doll experiment at Stanford University,
Bandura utilized inflatable plastic toys painted to look like clowns. Bandura divided preschoolers
into three categories; the first group observed aggressive adult behaviors, the second group
observed nonaggressive adult behaviors, and a control group did not observe any behaviors.
Preschoolers engaged in distracting activities, such as coloring, while the parent interacted with the
Bobo doll in a manner based on their assignment. As explained by Nolen, at the conclusion of the
study, Bandura found that the children who observed a parent behaving aggressively toward the
Bobo doll (why would the child not want to hit a clown? I assume results pair with coloring outside
of the lines) later mimic the behavior of the adults by attacking the doll in the same fashion.
Bandura came up with four requirements for learning: observation, retention,

Deborah Cowen s The Deadly Life Of Logistics Essay
In many aspects globalization is usually described as a process where due to an increase in
trade, technology and cultural exchange the world is getting more interconnected making
distances less and less which is giving rise to a capitalist economy. According to (Wallerstein
2004), world economy has always been capitalist . It s like everyone is specialized to perform a
certain task and that s how the idea of division of labour is built within us which ties us to the
system of capitalism. Competition and the will to earn more is ingrained which creates state
subsidies and makes strong states to use their power to prevent weaker states from succeeding.
However, Deborah Cowen s The Deadly Life of Logistics published in 2014 by the University of
Minnesota Press justifies globalization in a very complex way which opens the eyes of readers
to the violent aspects relating to it. In the title words such as trade and logistics may deceive some
users with the content contained in the book to business decisions and the revolution in military
affairs. Nonetheless, this is not the case as this book aims to describe the art and the science of
logistics. Cowen suggests that logistics is part of the reason of the changing world in political
agendas, security levels, rise of global production, labour practices and warfare. Cowen uses critical
theory to elaborate the revolution in logistics by going through the civilization of logistics and
going in depth of the economic and and

Inside Job Is A Documentary That Covers The 2008 Financial...
Inside Job is a documentary that covers the 2008 financial crisis. The first part of the documentary
focuses on what led to the financial meltdown. In the 1980 s the finance industry exploded after
investment banks went public, leading these firms to have an excess of stockholder s money. Then
the president at the time, Ronald Reagan, began a 30 year period of financial deregulation. Reagan
deregulated savings and loan companies which allowed them to make risky investments with
depositor s money, which led to taxpayers paying $124 billion dollars when they inevitably failed.
Executives in these companies were also stealing money from their depositors. Another problem
was that many of the executives from these investment banks ended up being put into powerful
positions in the government where they pushed for even more deregulation. In the late 90 s the
internet bubble burst after investment banks knowingly promoted internet companies they knew
would fail. A financial innovation known as derivatives became a $50 trillion business yet they
were completely unregulated. When there was an attempt to regulate this market, it was almost
immediately shut down and a law was put in place banning all regulation of derivatives. Under
these new rules it created a new securitization food chain. Investment banks were creating complex
derivatives called collateralized debt obligationand selling these debts to investors. Then these
CDO s were rated by rating agencies, with most of them

Alternate Outcome At Fort Ticonderoga
Alternate outcome at Fort Ticonderoga
In order to come to an alternative outcome, one must first address the instructional letter sent from
General Gage to General Carleton after the battles at Lexington and Concord. The letter took far too
long to get to General Carleton. General Gage had credible human intelligence suggesting that the
colonists wanted to take Fort Ticonderoga. While one understands that one must use the chain of
command, one would think the immediacy of the letter was far more important and should have
gone directly to Fort Ticonderoga, instead of the 10 day long ride to Montreal. And even if that
was not proper protocol, General Gage could have at least sent an advisor with knowledge of
surveillance techniques to Fort Ticonderoga to aid in their post and give better forewarning of a
potential attack.
Secondly, had the British force at Fort Ticonderoga had cavalry scouts assigned to it, there would
not have been much of an American Revolution. The cavalry scouts would have picked up the trail
of Colonels Allen, Arnold, and the Green Mountain Boys. The Scouts could have performed
reconnaissance and then reported back to the garrison commander, putting the whole fort on guard.
Then the garrison commander could have contacted both the British sloop in Lake Champlain and
the garrison at Fort Crown Point for further aid and reinforcements, beating back the patriot
attacking force.
Thirdly, with more troops at the fort, the British could have afforded a couple

Race, Gender And Premarital Sex
This research examines the relationship between race, gender and premarital sex; furthermore it
looks at the factors that cause individuals to participate in premarital sex. Guttmacher Institute
reported that over 95% of the American public has engaged sexual intercourse before getting
married, and even most Americans born before the 1940 s engaged in this practice as well
(Regnerus and Uecker 2001). Even though it is not something new, it is now being considered
less taboo. Trends in premarital sex have continually been shifting; we as a nation seem to be
opening ourselves up to the idea of sex before marriage, and passing it off as normal (Martin,
Martin, Martin 2001). Even though many people might have engaged in premarital sex, their

limitation to this research was that there was no question in the GSS that had asked how many
people actually had premarital sex; it would have been interesting to comparing what people
thoughts about the issue, to their very actions on the issue.
Premarital sex has been practiced even before the 1940 s, so it is not a new topic, but then again
it is. Even though many people were engaging in this act, their thoughts and actions did not
always match up. At the fear of not being socially correct, people would often consider
premarital sex in a negative manner. However, as we can see, trends have been shifting over the
years in how people view sex before marriage; it is much more acceptable to talk about and people

Baba Joon Essay
Baba Joon is the newly released movie by writer/director Yuval Delshad. With a film career that
grew from the documentary world, this is his first feature. Never one to shy from reality,
Delshad turned to a subject that spoke to his heart; the father/son relationship. To create
authenticity, the movie is filmed in the dusty village where Delshad grew up and the actors
speak a blend of Hebrew and Farsi, just like it was in the 1980 s of his childhood. Delshad loves
the fact that life imitates art, My baby, Yitamar, was conceived during the start of photography
and he is already trying to crawl! Baba Joon centers on the conflict of a traditional father,
Yitzhak, whose life has been hard and demanding, and his gently defiant son who, as a pre teen,
is refusing to learn how to farm turkeys. The mother understands that their son, Moti, has no
passion for the family livelihood but Yitzhak takes the decision badly. And thus ends the hopes
of all good dreams; the father s desire to pass on his father s business is doomed by his son s
utter disinterest. Here is a kid who has no love of turkeys, no desire to learn the trade and no
appreciation of the art of poultry manufacture. More painful is the perceived lack of respect that
the father senses in Moti s lack of interest. This is the farm that his father built with sweat labor and

The Controversy Of Yellowstone Supervolcano
In this paper i will be talking about some of the controversy swirling around about the
Yellowstone Supervolcano. I will be talking about, the activity of the volcano and magma
chamber, when it s predicted to erupt next, the kill radius and ash cloud devastation, and if there
is anything we can do to stop, or even mitigate the effects of a massive super eruption. In most of
the research I have done and completed, this supervolcano has a lot of controversy behind it.
One of the things I have found is, people around the world , no matter how much evidence
proves them wrong, believe this supervolcano is no longer active. I would like to put that
thought to rest mostly because of how idiotic it makes people sound. If the Yellowstone magma
chamber was not active, which is what makes it a supervolcano, explain to me why there are so
many hydrological features in Yellowstone. Explain to me why and how geysers work. The
magma chamber has been moving since it first developed. It started out in the south eastern
corner of Oregon and has been moving north east for the last 16.1 million years to where it is
today in Wyoming. This magma chamber is the reason Yellowstone National Park is one of the
world s most interesting places to visit. It is about one and a half miles under the crust and heats
up big aquifers underground. If you have ever watched water boil, what happens when the water

Protecting the Privacy of Individuals on the Internet
Over the past decade the world has gotten much smaller due to the electronic communication the
Internet has fostered. While this promotes business and international relations, problems arise
regarding the protection of individuals personal information. Many countries around the world have
developed privacy policies and laws protect an individual s information in the realm of electronic
communication. Universal enforcement gets complicated because the Internet is not restricted to
one country; it s worldwide. As a result, concerns arise regarding the compatibility of various
countries privacy policies. This paper will discuss the current legislation in place for various major

On a more global level, international agreements such as the International Covenant on Civil and
Political Rights and the European Convention on Human Rights protect the privacy of individuals
around the world. We see that in order to protect the fundamental privacy rights of individuals,
laws have been established on both local and global scales. Therefore, it follows that laws are also
necessary to protect the information of individuals in the electronic environment. Two types of laws
are adopted by various countries to protect the sensitive information of individuals on the web. The
first kind, comprehensive laws, are laws that govern the collection, use and dissemination of
personal information by both the public and private sectors 6. These general laws do not deal with
individual areas like health care or educational systems. Instead, they establish standards for use of
private information for all entities. Comprehensive laws are usually adopted for one of three
reasons: to remedy past injustices, to promote electronic commerce or to ensure that laws are
consistent with Pan European laws7. In addition, comprehensive laws often require the
establishment of an independent commissioner to oversee the enforcement of the law.
Unfortunately, problems arise because either a lack of resources hinders

Plath s Tulips
Struggling to fulfill societal expectations in a domestic role is a problem countless women face.
Sylvia Plath s poem Tulips , Adrienne Rich s poem Aunt Jennifer s Tigers , Michael Cunningham
s novel The Hours, Doris Lessing s short story To Room Nineteen , Sophocles s play Antigone,
and Patty Jenkins s film Monster all contain women who are unable to cope with the role society
has forced upon them. Each of these stories showcase a womanwho chooses to stop being
complacent with her place in world, but each woman ends up dead or completely isolated. This
draws the conclusion that true feminism does not exist; in order to reject the patriarchal values
that society holds, one must sacrifice everything. Plath s poem Tulips is written from the point of
view of a hospitalized woman who desperately wants to escape all of the cultural expectations
placed upon her and fall into nothingness. The speaker reveals she is in the hospital recovering
from a procedure when she declares, I have given my name and my day clothes up to the nurses

Antigone, the female lead in Sophocles s play Antigone, rejects strong patriarchal values by
defying the king s orders. Creon, the king, forbids the burial of Antigone s brother, Polynices,
because of his traitorous actions. However, divine law, Greek custom, and simple humanity
demand that Antigone see her brother buried; she must choose between obedience to the
temporal rule of Creon and the duty she owes to a brother she had loved. Although she knows
her fate will be death, she chooses to bury the body of her brother ( Antigone ). Antigone even
refuses to allow her sister, Ismene, to take any blame for this act because she believes it would be
giving her false credit. Antigone tells her sister, Death and the dead will witness who did the deed;
I love no friends who are only friends in words (Sophocles

Human Nature In Lord Of The Flies Character Analysis
Andrew Sink
Mr. McCain
Advanced English, period 6
22 September 2014
Raw Human Nature
In the novel Lord of The Flies by William Golding, a plane crashes on an island and a group of
young English boys are forced to fend for themselves as well as each other in hope of rescue. In this
novel Golding makes several comments on the tendencies of man when in the absence of a social
structure. Throughout the book, Golding tells the reader about human nature. When humans
completely give in to human nature, chaos erupts. Through the use of the fire, the beast, and Piggy
s glasses William Golding shows how human nature slowly pulls away from civilization when there
is no social structure.
One way that Golding conveys his message about human nature is with the fire and its smoke. In
a sense, the fire is an indicator of the civilization level of the boys. Towards the beginning of the
story, Ralph works very hard at keeping up the fire. The other boys help him because they want to
be rescued as well. They want the fire to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the very beginning of the novel it s obvious that Piggy s glasses are important. They are a
symbol of power. Piggy s glasses hold within them the power of fire. Power is something craved
by most people on the island, especially Jack. This craving is due to the tendencies of human
nature. Ralph uses Piggy s specs so he can make his signal fires, but when Jack breaks away and
forms his own tribe. He steals Piggy s glasses so he can have fire for cooking his meat. The
spectacles have the power to save them all from the island, such as Ralph s signal fires, or
destroy them all, such as Jack creating a forest fire in an attempt to kill Ralph. Ralph tries to use
the spectacles to get rescued and Jack tries to use the spectacles to kill Ralph and gain power. The
craving for power drives both sides, which is one of the main tendencies of human nature that
Golding talks

The Road By Sam Mendes
Revolutionary Road
A directed by Sam Mendes about a couple that faced common issues in marriage in the 1950 s.
In the 1950 s many lived in suburban areas in the hopes of a simple, normal life with goal of
safety and security. It was a means to surviving and having a peaceful life. However, April and
Frank Wheeler wanted a different life. April Wheeler found that the idea of living a simple life
was too dull and wanted more out of life and marriage. April Wheeler constantly romanticized the
idea of being a famous actor and breaking typical family norms rules of being a mother and wife.
Frank Wheeler had a job that he hated and commute daily from Connecticut to New York in the
means of financially supporting his wife and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of the main issues of their marriage comes from ineffective communication, problem of
juggling work and family, and even not coming together to identify clear goals and expectations to
agree on prior to marriage.
There are a number of things to consider when trying to choose the right partner in order to
minimize the risk of entering an unhealthy relationship. For example, some things to consider is
forming a homogamies relationship, complementary needs, responsible, committed, respectful, and
emotionally supportive. April and Frank never came together with shared values, attitudes, and
expectations they have out of marriage. They married young and didn t take time to get to know
what another. The process of their entire marriage and even discussing certain issues was always a
rush based on only emotional frustration rather without use of much logic, time, and patience for
one another. In addition, April has a disillusioned expectation of marriage and her husband. There is
no compromise, with the notion that Frank meets her needs only. April also had children without
wanting the responsibilities of being a mother.
In Sternberg s Triangular theory of love, there are three different times of love. The three types of
love are passion, intimacy, and commitment. Passion is the sexual connection, intimacy is the
connection that involves in having bonded feelings for one another, and

Political Office Campaign Marketing
With the ongoing growth in social media usage and other technological advances, the needs for
marketing and financial strategies in business endeavors are more important than ever before.
These endeavors also carry over to political office campaigns. While the purposes of financing and
marketing have greatly changed over time, their importance is at an all time high for these
campaigns. In order to run a successful political office campaign, one must also have a successful
marketing and financing campaign as well.
A campaign plan takes account of a campaign s goals, message, target audience, and financial
expenses. Candidates must also successfully communicate the message of the campaign, recruit
volunteers, and raise money. Marketing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the political teams for Donald Trump and Marco Rubio repeatedly bashed the early
frontrunner in the 2016 Republican primary, Jeb Bush with negative ad campaigns. Each campaign
called out Bush s Super PAC and its lack of efficiency. The negative advertising proved effective, as
Bush eventually dropped out of the Republican primary. This same strategy seemed to doom Rubio
as well, as negative ads from Trump and other candidates doomed the Florida senator Rubio could
not even win his home state of Florida. Additionally, Trump has also been an extreme target for
negative advertising from the other republican candidates, as this arguably is the only thing that has
stopped him from clinching the Republican nomination so far and increased the likelihood for a
contested convention this upcoming summer. This just goes to show that heavy financing will not
win you an election by itself. On the other hand, Clinton remains the favorite to win the democratic
nomination and the presidency, and has raised a significantly larger amount that any other
candidate, as shown in the figures

Dannels University of Phoenix IT (Information Technology) management entails all the routine issues faced by any type of business manager in addition to the issues of software development, technology purchasing (not necessarily physical items), systems integration, the limits of technology and the related budgetary issues. General information literacy is important for any level of IT manager, as he or she needs to communicate successfully using many different modes, media, and technology with all types of IT workers, upper management, and technology product vendors. IT management also entails leadership of projects or departments. Information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sheer volume of information of all types is ever increasing, making the job of IT manager more difficult. To remain competent, IT managers must keep up with the latest trends and new technologies. The evaluation of new technology is another skill related to information literacy, since the information describing such technology can take many forms. The best IT managers are highly skilled in such evaluations. These effective managers seem to be rare, as found in Li (2009). That study found that to deal with the difficulties of IT management, many organizations used encroachment, to save face for executives by simplifying and deflecting harmful results and analysis. This spreads the managerial blame and deals with the well documented fact (every computer science student is taught this) that over 60% of all technology projects fail and software development projects in particular fail even more frequently. The reasons for the failure of such projects include the incompetence of IT management (Toader et al., 2010). This is increasingly exemplified by the inability to communicate effectively with workers of foreign origin and incorrect evaluations of technology. The lost revenue of software projects is a huge number and that problem is not getting better. Since dealing with cross cultural management and the evaluation of new technology are skills learned in information literacy, the lack of formal information literacy classes ... • 3. What Makes Architecture Real Project Report: Jon 9. Grade Architecture Architecture is a word of common knowledge, as I think it should and is at least for the people around me that i know. For me the word is always associated with architect, because an architect is the one who makes architecture real. Architecture as people understand it nowadays probably came to life with the species homo sapiens because they are self conscious, before it was just a very primitive thing. You could say DNA is an architect because it builds, in fact it is probably the best and wisest architect humans know of, therefore we are also architecture because anything that is built and is physical can be architecture by definition even Wikipedia states that. This is is all very philosophical. All form of art are connected with philosophy and so is architecture. Architecture is considered art, plus everything that involves with it like the process of designing. Architecture was the first art form on this planet, everything existing is in reality architecture, noone never said architecture had to be created by a conscious being. If universe just came into existence, therefore nothingness itself is an architect. Therefore nothingness could be conscious, just vacuum or something more. ... In fact there have been buildings just for show since the beginning of first civilizations. Temples for gods, pyramids for pharaos, arcs for victorious battles. • 4. Tim Hortons Artifact Sample To Curate my artifact the first thing I did was focus on the image of the Tim Hortons cup and the double double . However, I did not want to just focus on the double double itself I wanted to curate Tim Hortons image as whole. Which is why I chose to have images of inside Tim Hortons, while also showing the brown and plain aesthetic that Tim Hortonshas. Also, I wanted to feature taste which is extremely hard to represent in a digital format. For that part of my exhibit I got some quotes on what people think Tim Hortons coffeetastes like. In addition to that, I also found an article which explained the process on how Tim Hortons Develops it s coffee. It gives an interesting perspective on how big fast foodbrands go about developing their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firstly, as far as image goes I cannot literally produce a physical representation of a TIm Hortons cup. The best I could do is pictures of what it looked like at the time. Secondly, while I can show images of the inside a Tim Hortons I can not show the atmosphere of a Tim Hortons. For instance, how busy the morning rush is with a line of people trying to get coffee. Or how you see a group of retired people having a daily discussion at lunch time over coffee. There s only so much that can be done on the medium of digital curation. Consequently, there are also some key issues when trying to curate the taste of something online. Because you can say what something taste like and be very descriptive. Ultimately, you can t truly appreciate what something tastes like until you have actually tasted it. Lastly, while I can present in words the cultural impact that Tim Hortons and the double double has it can t be fully represented unless you have seen it. For example, it s hard to picture how much influence Tim Hortons has had unless you see people with Tim s cups everyday at your university or at your place of work. By in large I feel like a did an admirable job of curating my artifact in a deep way that can hopefully give those that don t know about Tim Hortons at least a glimpse into how they captured the views and values of an entire ... The Inspiration Of Elvis Presley And The American Dream When one thinks of Elvis Presley, he or she may think of the line I m all shook up, his signature white flamboyant jumpsuit, or his stereotypical movies. However, Elvis was much more than a singer, he was an influence and an inspiration that paved the way for a new era of music as well as an age of acceptance. He can be considered one of the greatest musicians of all time not only because he won countless awards and honors, but because he also helped to merge African and Caucasian America, represented the American dream, and inspired many other successful musicians. ( Elvis Presley Biography ) Early in his career, it was discovered that he could perform blues songs while also keeping his southern roots. This unique blend of styles along with Elvis s popularity became a catalyst for a musical revolution. Black music needed to be introduced by a white artist in order to appeal to an audience outside of the African Americancommunity, and Elvis was the one who could do it (McKeen). He had the charisma, the charm, the look, and the moves. During the rise of his fame, Elvis was invited to be on Milton Berle s Variety Show. On his second appearance, his promiscuous dance moves, mostly involving the gyrating of his hips, deemed him inappropriate for audiences by CBS. This prompted Elvis to only be televised from the waist up, which in turn built anticipation for his shows. He was sexual, sensual, rude, and the best thing to happen in years. (Partridge, 26) He would also become friends with African American artists who he would then endorse at public events, concerts, interviews, and television appearances. This helped to spread African American music to primarily Caucasian areas of the country. The use of the radio had a massive impact on this spread, it even helped Elvis develop his interest in the African American sound. When Elvis was growing up, segregation laws were enforced. Reflection Paper On Restless Leg Syndrome Chronic Disease Analytical Reflection Paper Introduction to Restless Leg Syndrome Willis Ekbom Disease, commonly referred to as restless leg syndrome is a disorder of the nervous sensory system that causes an uncomfortable urge to move the legs as defined by Sales, Sanghera, Klocko, and Malcom (2016). These symptoms are majorly observed in the evening or during nighttime when one assumes a resting position in bed. Consequently, they cause difficulties in falling asleep. From Odysseus in ancient Grecian times to May Parker in Spider man Two, who states, We need a hero, courageous sacrificing people, setting examples for all of us. I believe there s a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble (Raimi, 2004). Organizations need heroes, too. We call them organizational leaders. The study of organizational leadership, then, is really the study of what makes a person a successful hero. Or, what processes, constructs, traits, and dynamics embody the image of a successful leader. One very successful leader, who was also a hero in the popular press, was Eleanor Roosevelt.... One relationship leaders develop is a hierarchical group of followers, with an in group getting better assignments, more communication, and a higher level of regard than the outer group. Her in group followers were a few female reporters. Two women in particular, Lorena Hickok and Nancy Cook, became close friends and often stayed with Eleanor on the Roosevelt estate. These women demonstrate that attitudinal similarity is an important influence on leader follower interactions (Pierce and Newstrom, 2008, p. 27) since they shared Eleanor s desire to embrace women as equal members of society. Eleanor Roosevelt also exemplifies the concept of trust leadership. As a somewhat radical First Lady, she targeted women with her media campaign. Women, who worked inside the home, often isolated from others in rural areas, accepted this new version of their First Lady and became her in group. As she gained their trust with radio broadcasts and her daily column, My Day, she then intrigued a larger audience, mostly male, to accept her as a social and political leader (Eleanor Roosevelt, n.d.) (Pierce and Newstsrom, 2008, p.29). Nevertheless, the Spanish government prohibited Florida Indians to be slaves since it was the law and it was practiced in other spanish colonies. The governors of Florida and its religious leaders allowed the Hispanic colonists oppressed Indians to do labor for little or no wages. Many Native Americans were badly treated, poorly fed, and died because of forced labor. St. Augustine was mostly built by Indians with forced labor. There were slaves in Florida, but not as many in England s Carolina colony where there were twice as many Africans as whites. Spanish law treated slaves differently than English law. In the law of the English, a slave was property that could be bought, sold, and punished possibly even to death, without any legal or civil rights. English wives were treated as property of their husbands. Spanish law perceived slaves as wretched people who still had legal rights, could sue their owners in court, and could own property. Both men and women slaves could petition the Spanish King. The law permitted slaves to purchase their freedom and to attain the rights of all the King s free subjects. • 14. A Profound Southern American Catholic Novelist, By... A profound Southern American Catholic novelist, Flannery O Connor concealed her true spiritual intentions into many of her grotesque stories. Many of her writings involve a tale of a displaced person that is eventually lead to redemption and mercy from God. Through plenty of hardships and mistakes, her protagonists endure a spiritual transformation that leads her characters into enlightenment. O Connor weaves blatant instances of sacramentality, mediation, communion, mercy, and humandignityinto the development of each of her stories. O Conner revealed sacramentality in thousands of examples throughout her literary marks of genius. In Wise Blood, Hazel s car exposed sacramentality as a symbol of himself. The car s beat up, rugged state and unreliable features mirrored Hazel s own broken down spirituality. When the car broke down on the side of the road, Hazel proclaimed, This is a good car, Mister! This car can take me anywhere I wanna go! (film). He argued that the well built car could not break down due to its prime initial quality. His connection with the car resembled a part of himself. The car served as Hazel s longed for home, podium, and sanctuary; the vehicle even provided him a place to sleep. Also, he found a homebased security atop of his car when he preached about the Church Without Christ. Hazel even declared, Nobody with a good car needs to be justified (film). Lumbar Disc Pathology A Literature Review on Pertinent Imaging Findings for Lumbar Disc Pathology What these Images Are Holding to Guide in Physical Therapy Treatments Physical therapists provide a multi approach in treatment of discogenic low back pain. Depending on the stage and severity of disk pathology, it is mostly a therapist s preference when it comes to what intervention is applied. However, there are some important concepts such as avoidance of axial loading when prescribing exercises to patients with disc pathology as this is strongly related to degenerative changes although there is no gold standard tool for measuring lumbar compression load (Hung, Y.J.et al., 2014). Hours spent sitting significantly increased the prevalence of disc herniation. Sitting is also associated with loss of the lumbar lordosis, intervertebral disc (IVD) compression, and height loss, possibly increasing the risk of lower back pain (Fryer, J.C., Quon, J. A., Smith, F. W. (2010). Hence, offering variable positions when exercising patients best minimizes seated exercises. Little is known about the correlation between the extent of disc herniation and clinical signs and symptoms, neither were there any reported correlation between improvement in functions nor the pain reduction as visually reported, other than the reduction in sizes of disc herniation among the four segment levels (L2 L3 = n 6, L3 L4 n=17, L4 L5 n= 51 c, and L5 S1 n= 4), indicative of morphological regression of herniated disk during their repeated MR as reported by the research of Unlu, Tasci, Tarhan, Pabuscu, Islak in 2008. • 17. Socioeconomic Diversity Of Colleges And Universities Essay In today s world where the population, especially of the United States, is growing gloriously diverse, institutions of higher education must also reflect this aspect in their student body. The purpose of colleges and universities is to provide students with the education and experience they need to succeed after graduating as well as expand their thoughts and perspectives. Thus, they must create and maintain a similar environment in which students will live and work in the future. Although diversity has been emphasized as a priority for many schools, socioeconomic diversity is often disregarded. However, socioeconomic diversity plays an important role in developing the perspectives and minds of students. Thus, it is essential for the admission offices, especially of prestigious universities like the Universityof Pennsylvania, to recruit and admit more economically disadvantaged students as well as for the schools to meet the needs of and maintain those students. Diversity has been an ongoing topic of discussion in the higher education setting. However, these conversations had always placed focus on race, gender, and religion; socioeconomic status tends to be overlooked (Ma, 2013). Ma (2013) found that discourse about socioeconomic diversity is neglected because many Penn students do not feel comfortable revealing their family s income or financial aids. Occasional erratic actions in Nick s behavior show that he is constantly attempting to suppress a deep internal turmoil. • 19. Heavy Price of Defense Spending Cuts by Victor Davis Hanson Renowned historian and classicist scholar Victor Davis Hanson s January 11, 2012 commentary entitled Heavy Price of Defense Spending Cuts: Nations That Choose Butter over Guns Atrophy and Die warrants a thoughtful analysis of its merits and shortcomings by U.S. military officers entrusted with leading this nation s youth while implementing our national strategy. Hanson s 2012 premise, albeit over two years old today, is immediately discernible: America faces devastating self inflicted wounds by implementing the current Administration s defense spending budget. The dawn of 2014 finds this debate ongoing and the implementation of this budget well in progress, with even more drastic cuts taking effect than the ones analyzed by Hanson previously. While few historians of repute would argue against the reality that the siren song of defense reductions has lured the nation onto the shoals of unpreparedness for future conflict many times in the past, two shortcomings in Hanson s piece beckon us to pause and reexamine. First, Hanson appeals to the dignity of the American character by the psychologically compelling assertion many Americans would probably prefer a new frigate manned by highly trained youth to discourage our enemies, rather than another Solyndra like investment or a nearly $1 trillion stimulus. Even if this is so, a critical evaluation of his self described probability raises the question of relevance to his premise. What is deemed best for national ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Anything from sports to music is displayed on the television. While there are many positive aspects of mass media, to the contrary, there are also violent programs portrayed. Violencein all aspects of the media has drawn public attention with practically every novel type of media entertainment (Slotsve et al., 2008). With children being the main audience, this is a topic that has become highly debatable. Over the years more and more cases have come to light alleging televisionis the culprit to violence. Beginning in 1994, a three year study was conducted. This utmost recognized study of violence in television, the National Television Study, evaluated violence on the television (Slotsve et al., 2008). Through this study, a trend between violent and belligerent antisocial behavior was documented (Slotsve et al., 2008). The violence portrayed on the television can create footprints in the child s mind. The paths become a link to abnormal behavior patterns. In addition, the Surgeon General s Program of Research also identified a contributory linking between televised violence and antisocial behavior with children being more affected (Slotsve et al., 2008). The question still remains, is television a root for violent behavior? There are a few neurological effects that have been associated with long durations of televisions viewing. ... For those of you who don t know what fentanyl is, it s a powerful opioid, 100 times stronger than morphine, that is often prescribed to help patients manage moderate to severe pain. As a highly addictive substance, many are now dependent on it, and it is one of the most frequent causes of drug overdose. Readily available for purchase online are quantities of pure fentanyl from China, but when improperly diluted in clandestine labs, it can lead to an immediate overdose. Recently, an antidote for opioid overdose called naloxonehas become available without prescription, so that anyone can use it. Fentanyl has become a severe problem in the past few years, and while we yet to find a way to eliminate dependence on this drug, we must keep those who use it safe. Developed in 1959 by a Belgian chemist, Fentanyl came into widespread use in the mid 1990s as a painkiller and anesthetic. With the widespread availability of this drug as a common prescription, it s not difficult to understand how easy it is to become dependant on. Here begins the problem, for once their prescriptions run out, people need to buy drugs off the street to feed their addictions. According to (Wallerstein 2004), world economy has always been capitalist . It s like everyone is specialized to perform a certain task and that s how the idea of division of labour is built within us which ties us to the system of capitalism. Competition and the will to earn more is ingrained which creates state subsidies and makes strong states to use their power to prevent weaker states from succeeding. However, Deborah Cowen s The Deadly Life of Logistics published in 2014 by the University of Minnesota Press justifies globalization in a very complex way which opens the eyes of readers to the violent aspects relating to it. In the title words such as trade and logistics may deceive some users with the content contained in the book to business decisions and the revolution in military affairs. The first part of the documentary focuses on what led to the financial meltdown. In the 1980 s the finance industry exploded after investment banks went public, leading these firms to have an excess of stockholder s money. Then the president at the time, Ronald Reagan, began a 30 year period of financial deregulation. Reagan deregulated savings and loan companies which allowed them to make risky investments with depositor s money, which led to taxpayers paying $124 billion dollars when they inevitably failed. Executives in these companies were also stealing money from their depositors. Another problem was that many of the executives from these investment banks ended up being put into powerful positions in the government where they pushed for even more deregulation. In the late 90 s the internet bubble burst after investment banks knowingly promoted internet companies they knew would fail. A financial innovation known as derivatives became a $50 trillion business yet they were completely unregulated. When there was an attempt to regulate this market, it was almost immediately shut down and a law was put in place banning all regulation of derivatives. Under these new rules it created a new securitization food chain. Investment banks were creating complex derivatives called collateralized debt obligationand selling these debts to investors. Alternate Outcome At Fort Ticonderoga Alternate outcome at Fort Ticonderoga In order to come to an alternative outcome, one must first address the instructional letter sent from General Gage to General Carleton after the battles at Lexington and Concord. The letter took far too long to get to General Carleton. General Gage had credible human intelligence suggesting that the colonists wanted to take Fort Ticonderoga. While one understands that one must use the chain of command, one would think the immediacy of the letter was far more important and should have gone directly to Fort Ticonderoga, instead of the 10 day long ride to Montreal. And even if that was not proper protocol, General Gage could have at least sent an advisor with knowledge of surveillance techniques to Fort Ticonderoga to aid in their post and give better forewarning of a potential attack. Secondly, had the British force at Fort Ticonderoga had cavalry scouts assigned to it, there would not have been much of an American Revolution. The cavalry scouts would have picked up the trail of Colonels Allen, Arnold, and the Green Mountain Boys. The Scouts could have performed reconnaissance and then reported back to the garrison commander, putting the whole fort on guard. • 43. Plath s Tulips Struggling to fulfill societal expectations in a domestic role is a problem countless women face. Sylvia Plath s poem Tulips , Adrienne Rich s poem Aunt Jennifer s Tigers , Michael Cunningham s novel The Hours, Doris Lessing s short story To Room Nineteen , Sophocles s play Antigone, and Patty Jenkins s film Monster all contain women who are unable to cope with the role society has forced upon them. Each of these stories showcase a womanwho chooses to stop being complacent with her place in world, but each woman ends up dead or completely isolated. This draws the conclusion that true feminism does not exist; in order to reject the patriarchal values that society holds, one must sacrifice everything. Plath s poem Tulips is written from the point of view of a hospitalized woman who desperately wants to escape all of the cultural expectations placed upon her and fall into nothingness. The speaker reveals she is in the hospital recovering from a procedure when she declares, I have given my name and my day clothes up to the nurses / and my history to the anesthetist and my... In this novel Golding makes several comments on the tendencies of man when in the absence of a social structure. Throughout the book, Golding tells the reader about human nature. When humans completely give in to human nature, chaos erupts. Through the use of the fire, the beast, and Piggy s glasses William Golding shows how human nature slowly pulls away from civilization when there is no social structure. One way that Golding conveys his message about human nature is with the fire and its smoke. In a sense, the fire is an indicator of the civilization level of the boys.
