Hamlet Character Analysis
Everyone can agree that Hamlet is a classic piece of literature. However, there are many aspects
of the play that are confusing. Horatio is introduced in the first scene of the play, he is talking to
some guards about a strange occurrence. He is brought in as a scholar of good report to identify
what is happening. Fortinbras on the other hand, is first heard of gathering random men to fight
for him. He is referred to as young and untested. We see him only one more time before his
appearance at the end of the play. At the end of the play Fortinbras comes in and is made king. It
feels cheap, like Shakespeare had an extra character floating around and decided to make him the
new king, even though Horatio would have made a great king. Why then, is he just pushed aside
for Fortinbras. Throughout the entire play Horatio is right in the middle of everything. He knows
everything that has happened from the very beginning of the play. Fortinbras has been off taking
over some unimportant piece of land. So why, then, is he allowed to just swoop in at the end and
take the position of king. Even Hamletjust pushes Horatio aside and throws his hat in with
Fortinbras. Horatio had to put up with a lot of things throughout the play and at the end instead
of getting a reward of appropriate size befitting his deeds, Hamlet just tells him to tell my story
(V.ii.314). There are a lot of characters that get thrown to the wayside but Horatio gets it the
worst. Horatio had connections to the old royalty and he was well known to be level headed
and a scholar. The biggest thing that Horatio had going for him was that he was well connected
to the old royalty. His main connection was to Hamlet. He had been with Hamlet since they
were kids. He had gone through all of the same schooling. Since he was so close to Hamlet he
also knew everything that was happening in the kingdom from the view of a ruler. With
Fortinbras there will be much more catching up to do, Horatio will probably be called upon to
help explain what had been happening. You could argue that Fortinbras has the training necessary
to rule a country. However, I would argue that Horatio also has similar training. It would be even
better for Horatio because he got the training

The Attachment, Self Regulation, And Competency
The Attachment, Self Regulation, and Competency (ARC) Framework is a theoretically grounded,
evidence informed, promising practice used to treat complex trauma in children and adolescents
(Arvidson, 2011). This research shows how the application of the ARC model benefits inner city
youth who have been diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder. The goal of this research is to
demonstrate that symptoms of ODD can be decreased by exposing inner city youth to ARC
therapy over a period of time. The target population is inner city youth in Chattanooga, TN who
are diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder. 50 students were chosen at random at inner
city schools in the area. 25 of the youth will be exposed to the therapy, while 25 will not be
exposed and serve as the control group. The 25 students will be exposed to ARC therapy over a
span of 6 months. After the 6 month period, the behaviors will be rated again and compared to the
control group that received no treatment. Complex trauma results from exposure to severe stressors
that occur within the caregiver system or with another presumably responsible adult, are repetitive,
and begin in childhood or adolescence. As a result, many of these children and adolescents
experience lifelong difficulties related to self regulation, relationships, psychological symptoms,
alterations in attention and consciousness, self injury, identity, and cognitive distortions (Lawson,
2013). Exposure to ARC therapy over a given time will lead to

My Love For Life
Now it begins, the next chapter, this amazing moment where I start a new part of my life. The
next steps I take might be at the door of your institution. To introduce myself, I am Matthew
Kopsachilis from Long Island, a man who has one dream, to make movies. Today, you will
understand why I am a perfect candidate to be a FilmProduction Major at your school.
I live by the quote, Life is a story, so make it a good one! I have always loved telling stories. Back
in elementary school, I told stories about Dash and Violet, two characters from the animated movie,
The Incredibles. Well, one day the teacher overheard my story and thought it was true and called
my parents! That was a good one!
I guess you can say The Incredibles spoke to me. It created a spark that turned into a flame. My
love for movies grew. The Muppet Movie, The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth all captivated me. I
started to pay attention to the camera shots and would wait for the credits in every movie. I got to
know Jim Henson and his vision. As I got older, the movie ratings progressed and my interest
intensified.
For my 10th birthday, my mom got me a video camera, so I could make my own movies. I
started with stop motion, and my love for filming grew. I created a You Tube Profile and created
Lego Batman shorts, and was inspired with all the likes . I wanted to learn more so I took a class
at the local theater, called Film in a Flash. We created film shorts and had the opportunity to learn

Abstract: A hybrid generation is a part of large power system in which number of sources usually
attached to a power electronic converter and loads are clustered can operate independent of the
main power system. The protection scheme is crucial against faults based on traditional over
current protection since there are adequate problems due to fault currents in the mode of operation.
This paper adopts a new approach for detection, discrimination of the faults for multi terminal
transmission line protection in presence of hybrid generation. Transient current based protection
scheme is developed with discrete wavelet transform. Fault indices of all phase currents at all
terminals are obtained by analyzing the detail coefficients of current signals using bior 1.5 mother
wavelet. This scheme is tested for different types of faults and is found effective for detection and
discrimination of fault with various fault inception angle and fault impedance.
Keywords: Multi terminal transmission System, Wavelets, Hybrid energysources.

Introduction
This essay tries to describe three accident prevention models (Domino Model, Swiss Cheese
Model, System Theoretic Accident Model and Processes (STAMP)) and discuss the advantages
and disadvantages of each model in effective accident prevention at work place. The essay will
also review Hopkins? analysis of the Royal Australian Air force incident and use the Swiss Cheese
Model to analyse the incident to identify if the Swiss Cheese Model provide different findings, or
fail to identify findings, when compared to Hopkins? analysis.
1 Domino Model
One of the earliest accident prevention models which was proposed by Heinrich in 1950. This
theory illustrates five chronological accident factors, likened to a series of dominoes. It is ... Show

Thus, Domino model is suitable for relatively simple system where unsafe work behaviours and
hazards are the main focus.
This model was also successful in limiting relatively simple type of incidents. The result of the
research around human behaviour in an organisational context reveals that 88% of accidents are due
to unsafe work behaviours. However, this result emphasise that strategic program should include
data gathered from other field, such as industrial and organisational behaviour for promoting safety
culture within the system. In addition, as there is only a single triggering factor that leads to an
accident, it is rather more straightforward to control and prevent the cause or impose
recommendation (Health and Safety Professional Alliance,2012).
Disadvantages
The major downside with Domino model is falling into two main groups 1 there is a single cause
that trigger the incident and 2 there is always sequence in subsequent events that lead to an accident.
In real fact, majority of complex accidents always have multiple contributing factors. The accident
is more complex than single, individual error and we need to consider accident in relation to
management and organisation entirely. Montara Commission of inquiry is an example of such
complex accident. Montara oil spill disaster has happened as a result of poor control management,
lack of competency among personnel and system failures as well. These multiple casual

Essay On Scapegoat
Have you ever heard of a scapegoat? Most of us have used one or one s to get out of something,
that meaning good or bad. People in the past have also used someone or something as a
scapegoat(The salem witch trials the townspeople blamed witches and the devil for their bad
crops, The people to the New World blamed the indians for them dieing off by not knowing how to
live off the land, even people today blametheir siblings to get out of their punishments/chores, etc.)
My scapegoat on the other hand is my white, fuzz ball of a cat or other animals, and nature. Me
being the eldest child, I kept to myself and I am very shy. I hide in my room a lot and the only
person I can talk to is my fluffy cat or I can go outside and watch and play with ... Show more

I had to grow up faster than what my siblings are required to, due to I am expected to have more
responsibilities, be more responsible, be the good influence, and something they look up to.
Having those scapegoats is another thing that make me the person I am today, I can look at
things deeper than others. I can look at something different then what someone else sees, when
they see a disaster, I see potential. By my parents keeping me home all the time allows me to see
that they are just trying to help and show me what I need to expect in the future. They are giving
me a heads up and just trying to help even if it sucks some of the time. There is plenty of
negatives for being the eldest but there is just as many positives. I can sit back and watch other
people s mistakes and learn off of those. I can have a mud wrestling match in the front yard with
my brother. I can get to know my siblings better and become more close with them even if they
don t like me sometimes because I have to be the bigger person and tell them no when something
isn t right.
Like I said before, yes my cat is my scapegoat and yes I do talk to him. I am the eldest child and yes
it does suck at some points but it does have it s advantages. Those things are what makes me the
person I am today. That is a part of my personal

To What Extent Did the Activities in Iran Prove...
A.Plan of Investigation
This investigation assesses the Reagan Administration and its inconsistent foreign policy in
regards to Iran. The Iran Contra Affair was a controversial crisis for the fortieth president. It
involved two parts: the selling of weapons to Iran and then the siphoning of that money to
Nicaragua. However, in this investigation, the situation with Iran will be more prominently
discussed, rather than the Nicaraguan situation. The foreign policy pertaining to the Middle East
will be analyzed for its confusion and complexity. The two sources used in this essay, The Long

In a political move, perhaps out of spite for Carter, Iran agreed to release the hostages the day after
Reagan was inaugurated. The public aftermath of this situation, was that anti American feelings and
anti Iranian feelings flourished in Iran and the United States, respectively. Reagan then was
expected to fix the broken American affiliation with Iran. In September of 1980, Iraq invaded
Iran, in the beginning of the eight year Iran Iraq war. Iran was paranoid that Iraq s leaders had
ambitions....in terms of expansion and regional hegemony . 2 The invasion justified their fears.
At first, we did not have good relations with Iraq, which was had been close to the Soviet Union
.3 Although not an ally of Iraq , the United States believed that Saddam Hussein should not be
allowed to be defeated by a radical Islamist, anti American regime .4 There was speculation that
the U.S. had given the Iraqis the green light to launch war against Iran.5 This would have been
plausible because if Saddam Hussein, leader of Iraq, could seize oil rich territory, the U.S. would
then have access to Iranian crude .6 The United States also wanted to terminate the radical
Khomeini government and with the prospect of Hussein capturing Iran s main source of revenue,
this was probable. Because of this, over the next decade Washington would play an ambiguous role
in the Iran Iraq War. 7 Not only was Iraq receiving U.S. support, but Iran was too, despite the fact
our relations with them were

1991 Sacramento Hostage Crisis
The United States had its largest hostage rescue operation in its entire history, during the 1991
Sacramento hostage crisis. Four Vietnamese men, aged between 17 and 21, with legally acquired
firearms purchased by the leader of the group, entered into a Good Guys! Electronics store with
the intention to hold hostages until the four gunmen would receive (as ransom) $4 million, four
bullet proof vests, a helicopter, and a 1,000 year old ginger plant (Gross, p. 10). The gunmen had
told negotiators and hostages that they were dissatisfied with their lives in the United States,
frustrated by the difficulty of finding jobs and eager to be movie stars during the televised hostage
crisis (Gross, p. 8). These men wanted notoriety, and they wanted to return to their country of
origin, Vietnam, using the helicopter they demanded in the ransom. Despite threatening the
hostages, shooting several of them with the intent to injure them, and making wild ransom
requests, the Vietnamese men made little headway. After they realized their ransom offers were
not going to be met, they pushed the negotiators to give bulletproof vests in exchange for several
women and children. After successfully delivering one vest, ...(SED Sniper Jeff Boyes) had

Year Of No Rain Quotes
In the book Year of No Rain by Alice Mead, Stephen and Wol have different points of view on
how they feel about their education. On Page 50 Wol states, I don t know, maybe we should go
to Kenya. Where is Kenya? You tell us Stephen. You got a hundred in geography. From this
quote I am inferring that Wol is not very confident in himself and his education. But, on page 41
Stephen says Wait a minute. I want to take my pencil with me. Where did it go? Naiomi help me
look. Please? In this quote I am visualizing Stephen being frantic and speaking in a panicking
tone. I can grab from this quote that Stephen, unlike Wol, is passionate and feels confident in his
future because of the education he currently has. In the midway chapters of the book A Year of
no Rain by Alice Mead, Wol changes the way he feel s towards Naomi. On page 19 he said,
Stephen, do you think Naiomi likes me? This clearly makes Wol sound like he is in love with
her. Then, when Naomi goes missing he is more focused on whether or not she is alive. On page
47 and 48 there is an argument between Wolf and stephen. Wol said, Your mother should have let
naiomi come with us. They kidnap girls, I heard. Now, he is more grown up. The event of death,

Education And Economic Inequality
In the United States, people like to believe everyone has an equal chance at success. This emphasis
on self effort perpetuates the belief that people control their own social standing. However,
sociologists recognize that social stratification is a society wide system that makes inequalities
apparent (Griffiths et al., 2016, p.188). There are many factors that drive social inequality;
globalization and immigration, technology advances, the family you were born into, and even the
education you received in pre school. I feel the most important contributing factor is economic
inequality. I consider this to be true not only for the United States, but globally as well.
Both wealthy and poor classes, and all those in between would benefit from living in a more
economically equitable society. Statistics show correlation of an increase in overall physical health
and longevity, a decrease in infant mortality rates, and an increase in mental health in individuals
living in societies with higher economic equality. There is also substantial evidence linking greater
equality to better social relationships within societies there is less violence, and a greater sense of
overall trust.
I believe addressing education, implementing new tax policies, and making fundamental changes to
the way Americans think about success will help reduce economic inequalities. If we can achieve
this in our country, economic societies around the globe will all benefit.
It is widely agreed that

Key Factors For Employee Retention
Talent Retention Means Profit Maximisation Today, profit maximisation is the aim of every
commercial organisation which can be achieved only through its people. High turnover in the sales
and account department is always a reason to proud for businesses, contrary to this, high turnover
of employees is a big concern which requires immediate attention of the HR managers, particularly
in the small and midsized companies. High employee turnover rate severely affects the performance
as well as the reputation of a firm in the long run, it inflicts unnecessary cost burden and retards the
overall growth of an organisation. Low investment and high productivity is the success mantra of

Teen Parenting Essay
Why Teen Parenting should be delayed?
Raising a child isn t an easy thing to do. Raising a child while the parents are still in their teens is
even harder. Dealing with the day to day chores that involves a baby and trying to work and get an
education is very stressful on any teen.
Teen Parenting should be delayed because it is very difficult to handle, some can t handle it. One
of my friends is a teen mom, and she wouldn t wish a teen pregnancy on any teen. Trying to work,
go to school, raise a baby and still having some growing up to do is nowhere near easy. Dealing
with a checkbook, a husband, a newborn, a job and finishing school at sixteen was hard. But she

Often the mom will realize he isn t the best person in the world to be a dad, so she doesn t push
the issue. Child support is a problem, since most young dads, like the mom, are still in school or
not making very much at work. There are some great teen dads out there but unfortunately, they are
few and far between.
If the mom decides to stay with her parents, she deals with relationship issues on this front too. All
to often grandparents want to take over. How can they not? It s extremely hard to step back and let
your teen parent another child while you know they re so young, especially if the parenting styles
they have aren t what the grandparents practiced on their own children. Babysitting, parenting
styles, doubting the ability of the teen. All these can truly affect a teen mom in a negative way.
Finishing school and working to support a baby is also a big problem. In today s world, a
college degree is almost a must for any good paying job. A high school education is even more
important. If a teen mom still has to go to school and work, she has very little time to be a
mother. The worst part of it all, is that usually, that s what a teen mom really wants to be. Most
teen moms don t want to be part of the statistics. They don t want to be looked down on. They do
want to take care of their child, or children, in hopes that they grow up to be strong people. They
also want to show the world that they can be a good parent. It s just too bad that society

Economic Inequality In South Africa
On Sept 1, 1939, the German Army invaded Poland plunging the world into a devastating and
costly war, the effects of which were felt globally for decades after the fighting ended. South
Africa was a huge benefactor for the Allied forces during the war providing troops, funds, and
resources, in spite of the country itself being in a state of social disrepair. While there were
multiple contributing factors in Apartheid, World War II resulted in some of the main causes,
leading to economic inequality, nonviolent resistance and political split. World War II was an
economic boon for South Africa, but the profits failed to reach the oppressed lower class. Workers
were drawn to the mines as the demand for gold and silver production increased exponentially
during the war. In fact, according to South African History Online, during the war the number of
people employed in the manufacturing industry, especially Black men and White women
increased by 60%, and by the end of the war more blacks than whites lived in mining towns.
Even though many black men also raced to the city in search of work, conditions and pay were
poor and further increased the gap between whites and blacks. African agriculture was modified as
well, says author Ali A. Mazrui, in order to produce needed supplies and food for Europe during
the war. Afrikaners, descendants of the original Dutch inhabitants, were the ones who tended the
crops, so again the black population was left behind and floundered. A 1946

Many people say that political leaders must be held to higher standards and speak nothing but the

say may often not be true, this is what Hedges meant when he said that the most essential skill....

The Themes And Differences Of Star Wars And Star Trek
Star Wars and Star Trek are both a part of the science fiction genre and are about space

The United Federation of Planets and Star Wars has the Galactic Empire. They both have a ship
that they are famous for, Star Wars has the Millennium Falcon and the Death Star while Star Trek
has the USS Enterprise. Each ship has similar means of transportation, Star Trekhas warp drive
where Star Wars has Hyperspace. There are differences in the main objective of both series. Star
Wars is mainly about conflict, a constant battle between the light and the dark as the characters
strive to balance their sides of the force. Whereas Star Trek is mainly about peace, space
exploration and going where no man has gone before. Star Trek is a bit more logical and
grounded in science while Star Wars induces supernatural elements such as the force. Therefore,
Star Trek is science fiction while Star Wars can mainly be thought of a science fantasy. In
addition to science, Star Trek focuses on topics like ethics and morality and problem solving.
Star Trek often tried to tackle controversial topics in society and to teach its viewer s life lessons
such as acceptance to diversity. In 1968 Star Trek aired the episode Plato s Stepchildren where

Resistance to Change and Resolutions Essay
Organizations are made to change by both internal and external forces. Resistance is inevitable
but can be resolved by planning. I will discuss the possible resistances that may occur from the
changes in our sales process. This will be a planned process. I will take you through the necessary
steps to effectively manage the resistance to the change in the organizations structure and culture. I
will then cover in detail the resistance that will most likely happen in our company to this change
in our sales process. Resistance to Change and Resolutions An organization changes include
planned or unplanned, and revolutionary or evolutionary. There will be resistance to all of these.

The changes in our sales process will cause some conflict between departments or divisions.
They will struggle to regain their perceived power levels, causing conflict and then we will have
reduced performance. We are fortunate to have an organic structure in our company as this will
have less resistance because our people are allowed to think and make decisions on their own.
This gives them security from the habit of deciding how to implement a process. Were we
mechanistic we would see more resistance in the forms of having to make major changes in
behavioral attitudes of the workforce. Resolutions I believe we will see resistance to change
mostly by individuals. There are several ways to effectively overcome the opposition. The first
step is to plan the changes in the process. We will be creating a revolutionary change or major shift
in the sales process. Planning is key to overcoming resistance. A SWOT analysis is needed,
strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to the change. We define the goals, the scope of
the project, analyze the internal and external environments and determine the changes in
technologies. Also what will increase our chance for failure? Once this is done, we educate our
workforce. We have several means of communication. We can have short daily meetings, send out
emails, and use our company newsletter or my favorite, a link on the company s Internet site with
daily updates on the change process. We must include how these changes will

Ap The American Psychological Association
Rachel Harvey English 300 Dr. Weixel February 25, 2015 By: Rachel Harvey What is APA?
APA stands for the American Psychological Association. It originated in 1929 when a group of
scholarly men got to together and decided to come up with a set of rules to guide people and
make it easier to understand scientific writing. Rules and guidelines for APA style are found in
the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. People who generally use
this type of writing style include students and educators in social and behavioral sciences.
General Requirements for APA For every APA paper that is typed, each one is going to have the
same kind of format. It will follow these guidelines: 12 point black font (Times New... Show more

This part of the paper can be very simple, but it gives the reader an idea about what they are
going to be reading about and makes them decide whether it is worth reading or not. A good
abstract has many qualities that include accurate information, it is easy to read, straight to the
point and contains about 150 200 words. You will need to start a new page for the abstract and it
will be the first thing the readers see after the title page. There will be a header for this page
meaning a page number on the far right, top hand corner and then the title of the paper on the
far left, top hand corner of the page. Example: Body of the APA Paper The body of the paper is
the biggest chunk. There is no certain length for APA papers unless told to have one, otherwise
the length should be a suitable amount of pages to effectively get the main ideas across. This
will start on a new page as well, and just like the abstract page it will have the same header.
Headings Headings break up the paper into different sections that are important throughout the
paper. In the APA style of writing, there are five possible formats that may be used. The
Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association refers to them as Level of heading

Growing Up in Dysfunctional Families Essay
People who come from dysfunctional families are not destined for a dysfunctional life, (Bo
Bennett). In today s society dysfunctional homes have been a major issue in the United States.
Many people hope that once they leave home, they will leave their family and their childhood
problems behind. However, many people find that they experience similar problems, as well as
similar feelings and relationship patterns, long after they have left the familyenvironment. In the
eyes of Americans today, children grow up in family environments which help them feel
worthwhile, valuable, and appreciated by their family. According to experts at University of Illinois,

While many people believe that most families in America are well functioning families, the novel
Montana 1948 shows a good portrayal of a dysfunctional family because they did not have hope for
the future and without hope dysfunction will spread through generations of families like a disease,
destroying many lives along the way.
Some children in today s society aren t all taught the do s and don ts of what is publicly accepted.
From different environments children are raised in, they think that whatever they are taught is the
right thing. They have no prior knowledge of what is normal. As Marie Hartwell Walker states in
Why Dysfunctional Families Stay That Way she shares that,
Because they don t know what normal is, a dysfunctional family is participating in the pretense that
they are a normal family bringing up children within the range of what is normal. Because we live
in a culture that respects family privacy, someone usually has to get badly hurt before the illusion is
questioned by anyone outside its ranks, (Hartwell Walker).
The main reason of why children have a hard time blending into society is because they are
unwilling to change their ideas and values for the fact that they were taught differently. And for the
fact that they were taught a different way they get offended when someone tries to change them or
criticize them on their upbringing and lifestyle. These people try to teach them these things because

This field first became more known in the late nineteenth century. It was able to develop so much
because of the commercialization of the electric telegraph and the electrical power supply.
Electrical engineers mostly deal with power, optoelectronics, digital electronics, analog electronics,
computer science, artificial intelligence, control systems, electronics, signal processing and
telecommunications. An electrical engineer is able to create, manipulate, transmit and receive
data by electronic means such as 1 s and 0 s. What electrical engineers do is deal with problems
associated with large scale electrical systems such as power, transmission, and motor control.
Electrical engineers deal with electrical components that can span from the earth all the way to

Similarities Between Huck Finn And Walden
Freedom is an inalienable right according to the Declaration of Independence. But it s only
inalienable to those of a certain age, race and gender. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and
Walden share a similar premise about seeking and gaining freedom but go about it very differently.
Freedom in Huckleberry Finn comes about through running away, making good friends and having
many adventures. Freedom in Waldenhappens when Thoreau is secluded in nature for an extended
period of time to be self reflective. Huckleberry Finn is an adolescent and Thoreau is an adult.
As an adolescent, I would rather be with friends new or old on a similar adventure as Jim and
Huckleberry Finn down the Mississippi because of freedom it represents and the encounters with
people and situations along the way. Thoreau s seclusion for years on a pond in the woods means
he s alone with nothing but his thoughts to develop personal philosophies on freedom. Both books
are statements on the society at the time and on how to best find yourself at different life stages.
Huckleberry Finn is running away from an abusive parent and started off his adventure alone,
but soon finds Jim who is a runaway slave of Miss Watson s. They continue their journeys
together and become friends and will do anything to protect each other. Along the way, when
they are together they come across two people in need of help. Just as I was passing a place where

Diesel Fuel Prices Trucking Industry
The recent surge in the cost of heating oil, diesel fuel, and gasoline in the United States has had
significant impact on many sectors of the U.S. economy, but most importantly it has had quite a
devastating affect on the trucking industry. This is important due to the fact that nearly 70% of
U.S. communities rely solely on trucking for their supplies ( ATA 23). If the government
continues it s trend of non intervention and refuses to place pressure on OPEC, the prices will
continue to soar well over the two dollar mark, and cause the trucking industry as a whole to shut
down bringing the U.S. economy to a grinding halt. What is the reason that gasoline and fuel
prices are so high? Most people believe it is because of OPEC raising... Show more content on

This may not seem like a big deal but to the refineries that produce the fuel it is a very big deal
because all of their equipment would have to be changed to allow for the desulphurization of the
fuel. Though the refineries argued against it saying less sulphur would damage engines the EPA
upheld their decision. Thus the refineries had to put in new equipment, which in the long run
ended up tacking on an additional $ 3.9 billion to already high fuel costs ( Cutting Sulphur 13).
One of the industries hardest hit by the fuel cost increase is the trucking industry. Truckers
depend on diesel fuel as their lifeblood, without it the rigs and our economy would come to a
screeching halt. There is no single affect of high fuel costs on every driver and company; rather
there are many varying degrees to which they are all affected. To large companies, it is more of
an inconvenience than a problem because they do such a large amount of business that the slight
change in the price of diesel is almost negligible in comparison to their revenues. For smaller
businesses it is a whole different ballgame. These companies are constantly fighting and working
their figures to get business because it is survival of the fittest. Whoever has the lowest rate per
pallet or by the truckload is usually the one who gets the contract and with this additional expense
for fuel it makes it very difficult to cut a good

Unemployment Rates
Introduction
National unemployment rates are one of the key macroeconomic figures that indicate to an extent
how well a country is performing at a certain point in time. These figures are widely used by
economists because they can show economic growth or economic stagnation. One of the most
significant steps that must be taken in order to reduce the unemployment rate is to find out what is
causing it. There are many different factors that affect a country s economic is performance, which
means that there is also a wide range of policies that can be implemented to reduce unemployment
and improve economic performance. Typically there are two major types of employment factors
demand side and supply side.
Unemployment types, causes and effects
According to John Sloman and Alison Wride (2010, p.32) unemployed person is considered to be
the one who is without work, but is available for a one at current wage rates. Unemployment,
however, is not only a personal issue but also a big social and economic problem, which leads to
lost in human capital, incomes, production and lowering the standard of living as a whole.
Depending on what is the cause of it, unemployment may be divided into frictional, structural and
cyclical, where frictional and structural form the so called natural unemployment. Cyclical
unemployment is simply caused because of recession is a typical demand sided unemployment
which means that there is a lack of aggregate demand in the economy and there is less

The Character Of Iago In William Shakespeare s Othello
Iago is telling Roderigo that he can get revenge, and feel better about the fact that he did not get
the job by manipulating Othello. Later, he explains to Roderigo that he is going to convince
Othello that his wife is cheating on him with Cassio and if everyone knows Desdemona cheated
on him, it would ruin his image in the eyes of the people. Not only, does Iago show that he is
exploitive and uses people to get his way,
Live Roderigo,
He calls me to a restitution large
Of gold and jewels that I bobbed from him
As gifts to Desdemona. [...] And besides, the Moor
May unfold me to him. (5.1.15 22) Iago is telling Roderigo about his plan and how it will not
only be a masterful plan if it works, but it will really hurt Othello. Being exploitive does not end
with Othello and only continues his evil plan by convincing Desdemona to defend Cassio to
Othello. She thinks that she is helping a friend get his job back and is too nice to say no to Iago,
when really Iago is telling Othello that Desdemona and Cassio are involved. The patient uses his

Satirical on every level, Bob Fosse s 1972 film Cabaret redefines the previously accepted genre of
the musical. Using the songs and routines as cunning tools of social commentary the musical
numbers both predict and interpret the world of Berlin in 1931.
The opening routine, Wilkommen , is a powerful introduction to the opposing worlds of the

Indeed, from the beginning Sally is a metaphor for the indistinctive, hedonistic masses of people
who long for the glory they observe in others and claim should be theirs at any cost.
Despite her claims that she is driven by divine decadence , Sally uses her costumes and make up to
obscure her inner desires. When she goes to meet her father she has a nun s hands and it is as this
unmasked and vulnerable woman that she and Brian become lovers. In the song Maybe this time
, which is intercut with footage of Brian and Sally s relationship, the lyrics and cinematic structure
are used to negatively answer the hopeful plea Maybe this time I ll win . As Sally stands on the
stage of a near deserted Kit Kat Klub she sings passionately, fully clothed and for the only time not
exaggerating her sexuality. Although she claims that she is a lady peaceful, lady happy that s what
i long to be the bright lights show this normal Sally as attractive but not extraordinary, something
she will ultimately never tolerate.
Likewise the intercuts of footage also reveal in Sally and Brian a relationship which will never
last. As their eyes meet across the room, Fosse deliberately pans back to show the extreme
distance between the characters. And although their relationship is now sexual, Brian s echo of
Sally s feminine self concept doesn t my body drive you wild with desire? reflects a man as
tentative about his sexuality as Sally is about anonymous domesticity.

Kim Jong-Un Abuse Of Power
Kim Jong Un, the malicious leader of North Korea, is a man of great supremacy who only
wishes to obtain power, and refuses to let anything get in his way he wants to win at all costs.
He is a controlling descendent of the Kim dynasty, who are known to be one of the world s most
secretive and consequential families. Kim is a tyrant, and much like Macbeth, he has a thirst and
greed for power, and will abuse all that he acquires. This manipulative and greedy man validates
how Shakespeare s plays are still relevant today as they explore how power can be addictive and
corruptive.

All he was looking for is power, and once he had that there was no letting go.
Driven by power, Kim Jong Un is determined to assert an extremely tight grip on his current level
of power. His greed for more is causing him to grow reckless, and with his unwavering intentions,
he is not going to let anything get in his way. Like Kim, Macbeth is a strong minded, and is
compulsively fixated on becoming the best the only way he can become that is if he is crowned
King, in doing so he must kill Duncan.
I go, and it is done. The bell invites me. Hear it not, Duncan, for it is a knell that summons thee to
heaven, or hell. (Act 2, Scene 1)
Both of them are malicious men, ambitiously obsessed with their greed for power.
What kind of a man is Kim Jon Un? Only a malevolent man would kill his own uncle and innocent
people for watching soap operas.
Mr Kim has relied on purges to consolidate his grip on power since he took over North Korea. (E.

The New Pokemon League Champion, Ash, And His Partner
No sooner did the new pokemon league champion, Ash, and his partner, Pikachu, get off off their
flight in Palot Town that they went to pay a visit to their old friend Professor Oak. It had been a
long time since they last spoke to each other. As they neared the house, Ash could see Oak s lab
in the horizon. Whack! Ash was knocked forward by a sprinting figure with spiky hair who was
also on his way to Professor Oak s. The boy looked back and said, Later, Ash . It was Gary Oak,
the professor s grandson, and not one of Ash s favorite people. Ash never liked the way Gary
bragged. He seemed untrustworthy to Ash. Hey, Gary! Ash yelled as he started running after
him. Ash wanted Gary to stop and answer some questions. When they both arrived at the
doorstep of Professor Oak s lab, Gary rushed in saying he couldn t wait to tell his grandfather
about meeting one of the four elite members the Pokemon League from Kalos Region. Ash
asked which member it was. Gary said, I don t know, but his Pokemon were water types. It must
have been Siebold, Ash said in a perky voice and starting to feel excited for Gary. It s not
everyday that someone has the honor of meeting one of the elite. Ash said, I wondered where he
went after I beat him. So, yeah, I m the new champion of the Kalos region. That s why I came to

Alexander The Great Motives
In the book The Classical World: an Epic History of Greece and Rome by Robin Lane Fox, the
remarkable conquest of Alexander the Great is explained. After Philip, the king of Macedon,
was murdered in the most brutal way, his son Alexander was declared king. Evident in The
Classical world as it states; ...succeeded his murdered father in 336 five years later, aged twenty
five...incomparably richer than anyone known in previous Greek history (Lane Fox, para 1, 230).
His significant motives lead to great outcomes demonstrated by the luxurious life that prepared
Alexander the Great, the role and parental belief in a god, followed by his wish to succeed more

Alexander felt the need to work harder than his father and bring his wish to be better and
become remarkable (Lane Fox, para 9, 235). Alexander and his father did not have a good
relationship: Alexander wanted to surpass his father and be known for who he was dependently.
Even though the father and son relationship was not the best, Alexander knew his father and the
strong army his father had built and throughout his journey, Alexander used the army and the
battle tactics that his father had left behind Alexander s crack troops were Philip s Shield
bearers, hardened infantry who savaged the Indian armies and their elephants, even when many
of them, Philip s recruits, were already over sixty years old (Lane Fox, para 4, p 231). Alexander
became successful throughout his battles conquering many countries with the army that had been
left behind by his father. Finally, in the book The Classical World: an Epic History of Greece and
Rome Alexander s motives that shaped his remarkable life are described by Robin Lane Fox. He
became a Macedonian king who was raised to become a king, his role model Achilles that pushed
Alexander to succeed, and the bad relationship with his father that made him want to do better.

Polarized Light Lab Report
Experiment 10: Polarized Light
Clara Mbamalu
November 9th, 2014
Physics 1402
Professor Ndetan
Abstract: The purpose of the experiment is to learn more about the polarization of light, polarizing
filter and the light intensity changes through polarizing filters.
Overview:
The action of light is an extraordinary phenomenon. Light, for example, the one emitting from a
light bulb, is a form of wave motions that consist of electric and magnetic fields that vibrate at
right angles to the direction of travel of a light beam. The electric field that is associated with the
light wave oscillates in random directions, but is always in a right angle to the light propagation
direction. An unpolarized light is known as a light wave that vibrates ... Show more content on

Once I began to rotate one of the filters the light became increasingly darker. It appeared to have a
tinted affect. The light appeared to change its distinction.
Within the second part of the experiment I darkened the room so that the representation of light
was more significant. When I had everything hooked up properly I was able to use the
measurement tool to make 15degree rotations accordingly. These rotations were not precise and
it appeared that it only took me 180degrees to make a full rotation. Considering that the filters
were very small. I made a total of 13 readings and they are as follows: 0degrees 4.83ohms,
15degrees 15.39 ohms, 30degrees 18.82 ohms, 45degrees 15.53ohms, 60degrees 12.27ohms,
75degrees 16.60ohms, 90degrees 5.95ohms, 105degrees 9.76ohms, 120degrees 5.24ohms,
135degrees 9.20ohms, 150degrees 12.80ohms, 165degrees 16.58ohms, 180degrees 5.24ohms.
These results varied, it appears as though when I made a slight increment to the degrees it made a
drastic effect to the meter

Lane, Charles R. Ask, Thank, Tell: Improving Stewardship Ministry in Your Congregation.
Minneapolis: Augsburg Books, 2006.
This resource asserts that stewardship is not just about how much money they give to the church. It
is about helping them make better decisions financially. A church also has to realize that they
could be giving to other organizations, but they are giving to the church. Do not take this for
granted. It also has a section on the biblical text development of stewardship. This would be helpful
to identify key passages.

The Politics Of Hong Kong
Political regularity environment
Policy can contribute to constrict or to empower business (Allan, M 2016). Based on the current
situation, the joint venture needs to sell single malt whiskey to Hong Kong as well as import from
Tasmanian (Australia). Therefore, the political regularity environment of Hong Kong and Australia
are vital to determine whether will Chet continue joint a venture.
From the perspective of Hong Kong, firstly, Hong Kong government advocates a free market and
free enterprise framework, which could create a favourable business environment for new enterprise
whose intend to invest in Hong Kong (Trade and Industry 2015).
Secondly, Hong Kong as the member of the World Trade Organization(WTO) and the Asia Pacific
Economic Cooperation (APEC) has a free trade policy, which could maintain no import tariffs and
no barriers on trade (Trade and Industry Department 2014). Further, according to the Index of
Economic Freedom (2016), Hong Kong has the highest index (88.6) in the world. This means for
international trade and investment, Hong Kong maintains one of the most open economies in the
world. Meanwhile, for foreign investment, Hong Kong has no tighter regulations and control. Most
foreign invested enterprises could retain their all ownership (Koscil 2011).
Apart from that, Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region of the People?s Republic of China
and under the ?one country, two systems? principle (Gov HK 2015). Hence, Hong Kong has a

  • 2. Hamlet Character Analysis Everyone can agree that Hamlet is a classic piece of literature. However, there are many aspects of the play that are confusing. Horatio is introduced in the first scene of the play, he is talking to some guards about a strange occurrence. He is brought in as a scholar of good report to identify what is happening. Fortinbras on the other hand, is first heard of gathering random men to fight for him. He is referred to as young and untested. We see him only one more time before his appearance at the end of the play. At the end of the play Fortinbras comes in and is made king. It feels cheap, like Shakespeare had an extra character floating around and decided to make him the new king, even though Horatio would have made a great king. Why then, is he just pushed aside for Fortinbras. Throughout the entire play Horatio is right in the middle of everything. He knows everything that has happened from the very beginning of the play. Fortinbras has been off taking over some unimportant piece of land. So why, then, is he allowed to just swoop in at the end and take the position of king. Even Hamletjust pushes Horatio aside and throws his hat in with Fortinbras. Horatio had to put up with a lot of things throughout the play and at the end instead of getting a reward of appropriate size befitting his deeds, Hamlet just tells him to tell my story (V.ii.314). There are a lot of characters that get thrown to the wayside but Horatio gets it the worst. Horatio had connections to the old royalty and he was well known to be level headed and a scholar. The biggest thing that Horatio had going for him was that he was well connected to the old royalty. His main connection was to Hamlet. He had been with Hamlet since they were kids. He had gone through all of the same schooling. Since he was so close to Hamlet he also knew everything that was happening in the kingdom from the view of a ruler. With Fortinbras there will be much more catching up to do, Horatio will probably be called upon to help explain what had been happening. You could argue that Fortinbras has the training necessary to rule a country. However, I would argue that Horatio also has similar training. It would be even better for Horatio because he got the training ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Attachment, Self Regulation, And Competency The Attachment, Self Regulation, and Competency (ARC) Framework is a theoretically grounded, evidence informed, promising practice used to treat complex trauma in children and adolescents (Arvidson, 2011). This research shows how the application of the ARC model benefits inner city youth who have been diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder. The goal of this research is to demonstrate that symptoms of ODD can be decreased by exposing inner city youth to ARC therapy over a period of time. The target population is inner city youth in Chattanooga, TN who are diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder. 50 students were chosen at random at inner city schools in the area. 25 of the youth will be exposed to the therapy, while 25 will not be exposed and serve as the control group. The 25 students will be exposed to ARC therapy over a span of 6 months. After the 6 month period, the behaviors will be rated again and compared to the control group that received no treatment. Complex trauma results from exposure to severe stressors that occur within the caregiver system or with another presumably responsible adult, are repetitive, and begin in childhood or adolescence. As a result, many of these children and adolescents experience lifelong difficulties related to self regulation, relationships, psychological symptoms, alterations in attention and consciousness, self injury, identity, and cognitive distortions (Lawson, 2013). Exposure to ARC therapy over a given time will lead to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To introduce myself, I am Matthew Kopsachilis from Long Island, a man who has one dream, to make movies. Today, you will understand why I am a perfect candidate to be a FilmProduction Major at your school. I live by the quote, Life is a story, so make it a good one! I have always loved telling stories. Back in elementary school, I told stories about Dash and Violet, two characters from the animated movie, The Incredibles. Well, one day the teacher overheard my story and thought it was true and called my parents! That was a good one! I guess you can say The Incredibles spoke to me. It created a spark that turned into a flame. My love for movies grew. The Muppet Movie, The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth all captivated me. I started to pay attention to the camera shots and would wait for the credits in every movie. I got to know Jim Henson and his vision. As I got older, the movie ratings progressed and my interest intensified. For my 10th birthday, my mom got me a video camera, so I could make my own movies. I started with stop motion, and my love for filming grew. I created a You Tube Profile and created Lego Batman shorts, and was inspired with all the likes . WAVELET BASED PROTECTION SCHEME FOR MULTI TERMINAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEM WITH PV AND WIND GENERATION Y Manju Sree1 Ravi kumar Goli2 V.Ramaiah3 Assistant ProfessorProfessor Professor Manju547sree@gmail.com goli.ravikumar@yahoo.com ramaiahvkits@gmail.com 1,2,3 Kakatiya Institute of Technology Science, Warangal Abstract: A hybrid generation is a part of large power system in which number of sources usually attached to a power electronic converter and loads are clustered can operate independent of the main power system. The protection scheme is crucial against faults based on traditional over current protection since there are adequate problems due to fault currents in the mode of operation. This paper adopts a new approach for detection, discrimination of the faults for multi terminal transmission line protection in presence of hybrid generation. Transient current based protection scheme is developed with discrete wavelet transform. Fault indices of all phase currents at all terminals are obtained by analyzing the detail coefficients of current signals using bior 1.5 mother wavelet. This scheme is tested for different types of faults and is found effective for detection and discrimination of fault with various fault inception angle and fault impedance. Keywords: Multi terminal transmission System, Wavelets, Hybrid energysources. 1.INTRODUCTION An electrical power system consists of utility grid and hybrid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction This essay tries to describe three accident prevention models (Domino Model, Swiss Cheese Model, System Theoretic Accident Model and Processes (STAMP)) and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each model in effective accident prevention at work place. The essay will also review Hopkins? analysis of the Royal Australian Air force incident and use the Swiss Cheese Model to analyse the incident to identify if the Swiss Cheese Model provide different findings, or fail to identify findings, when compared to Hopkins? analysis. 1 Domino Model One of the earliest accident prevention models which was proposed by Heinrich in 1950. This theory illustrates five chronological accident factors, likened to a series of dominoes. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, Domino model is suitable for relatively simple system where unsafe work behaviours and hazards are the main focus. This model was also successful in limiting relatively simple type of incidents. The result of the research around human behaviour in an organisational context reveals that 88% of accidents are due to unsafe work behaviours. However, this result emphasise that strategic program should include data gathered from other field, such as industrial and organisational behaviour for promoting safety culture within the system. In addition, as there is only a single triggering factor that leads to an accident, it is rather more straightforward to control and prevent the cause or impose recommendation (Health and Safety Professional Alliance,2012). Disadvantages The major downside with Domino model is falling into two main groups 1 there is a single cause that trigger the incident and 2 there is always sequence in subsequent events that lead to an accident. In real fact, majority of complex accidents always have multiple contributing factors. The accident is more complex than single, individual error and we need to consider accident in relation to management and organisation entirely. Montara Commission of inquiry is an example of such complex accident. Montara oil spill disaster has happened as a result of poor control management, lack of competency among personnel and system failures as well. These multiple casual ... People in the past have also used someone or something as a scapegoat(The salem witch trials the townspeople blamed witches and the devil for their bad crops, The people to the New World blamed the indians for them dieing off by not knowing how to live off the land, even people today blametheir siblings to get out of their punishments/chores, etc.) My scapegoat on the other hand is my white, fuzz ball of a cat or other animals, and nature. I can look at something different then what someone else sees, when they see a disaster, I see potential. By my parents keeping me home all the time allows me to see that they are just trying to help and show me what I need to expect in the future. I can get to know my siblings better and become more close with them even if they don t like me sometimes because I have to be the bigger person and tell them no when something isn t right. • 10. 1991 Sacramento Hostage Crisis The United States had its largest hostage rescue operation in its entire history, during the 1991 Sacramento hostage crisis. Four Vietnamese men, aged between 17 and 21, with legally acquired firearms purchased by the leader of the group, entered into a Good Guys! Electronics store with the intention to hold hostages until the four gunmen would receive (as ransom) $4 million, four bullet proof vests, a helicopter, and a 1,000 year old ginger plant (Gross, p. 10). The gunmen had told negotiators and hostages that they were dissatisfied with their lives in the United States, frustrated by the difficulty of finding jobs and eager to be movie stars during the televised hostage crisis (Gross, p. 8). These men wanted notoriety, and they wanted to return to their country of origin, Vietnam, using the helicopter they demanded in the ransom. Despite threatening the hostages, shooting several of them with the intent to injure them, and making wild ransom requests, the Vietnamese men made little headway. Year Of No Rain Quotes In the book Year of No Rain by Alice Mead, Stephen and Wol have different points of view on how they feel about their education. On Page 50 Wol states, I don t know, maybe we should go to Kenya. Where is Kenya? You tell us Stephen. You got a hundred in geography. From this quote I am inferring that Wol is not very confident in himself and his education. But, on page 41 Stephen says Wait a minute. I want to take my pencil with me. Where did it go? Naiomi help me look. Please? In this quote I am visualizing Stephen being frantic and speaking in a panicking tone. In the midway chapters of the book A Year of no Rain by Alice Mead, Wol changes the way he feel s towards Naomi. On page 19 he said, Stephen, do you think Naiomi likes me? This clearly makes Wol sound like he is in love with her. Then, when Naomi goes missing he is more focused on whether or not she is alive. • 12. Education And Economic Inequality In the United States, people like to believe everyone has an equal chance at success. This emphasis on self effort perpetuates the belief that people control their own social standing. However, sociologists recognize that social stratification is a society wide system that makes inequalities apparent (Griffiths et al., 2016, p.188). There are many factors that drive social inequality; globalization and immigration, technology advances, the family you were born into, and even the education you received in pre school. I feel the most important contributing factor is economic inequality. I consider this to be true not only for the United States, but globally as well. Both wealthy and poor classes, and all those in between would benefit from living in a more economically equitable society. Statistics show correlation of an increase in overall physical health and longevity, a decrease in infant mortality rates, and an increase in mental health in individuals living in societies with higher economic equality. There is also substantial evidence linking greater equality to better social relationships within societies there is less violence, and a greater sense of overall trust. I believe addressing education, implementing new tax policies, and making fundamental changes to the way Americans think about success will help reduce economic inequalities. If we can achieve this in our country, economic societies around the globe will all benefit. It is widely agreed that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It s extremely hard to step back and let your teen parent another child while you know they re so young, especially if the parenting styles they have aren t what the grandparents practiced on their own children. • 17. Economic Inequality In South Africa On Sept 1, 1939, the German Army invaded Poland plunging the world into a devastating and costly war, the effects of which were felt globally for decades after the fighting ended. South Africa was a huge benefactor for the Allied forces during the war providing troops, funds, and resources, in spite of the country itself being in a state of social disrepair. While there were multiple contributing factors in Apartheid, World War II resulted in some of the main causes, leading to economic inequality, nonviolent resistance and political split. World War II was an economic boon for South Africa, but the profits failed to reach the oppressed lower class. Workers were drawn to the mines as the demand for gold and silver production increased exponentially during the war. In fact, according to South African History Online, during the war the number of people employed in the manufacturing industry, especially Black men and White women increased by 60%, and by the end of the war more blacks than whites lived in mining towns. Even though many black men also raced to the city in search of work, conditions and pay were poor and further increased the gap between whites and blacks. African agriculture was modified as well, says author Ali A. Mazrui, in order to produce needed supplies and food for Europe during the war. Afrikaners, descendants of the original Dutch inhabitants, were the ones who tended the crops, so again the black population was left behind and floundered. A 1946 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They both take place in the far reaches of the galaxies, on unique planets with imaginative and distinct species. In both series the planets are united in some way, Star Trek has The United Federation of Planets and Star Wars has the Galactic Empire. They both have a ship that they are famous for, Star Wars has the Millennium Falcon and the Death Star while Star Trek has the USS Enterprise. Each ship has similar means of transportation, Star Trekhas warp drive where Star Wars has Hyperspace. There are differences in the main objective of both series. Star Wars is mainly about conflict, a constant battle between the light and the dark as the characters strive to balance their sides of the force. Whereas Star Trek is mainly about peace, space exploration and going where no man has gone before. Star Trek is a bit more logical and grounded in science while Star Wars induces supernatural elements such as the force. Therefore, Star Trek is science fiction while Star Wars can mainly be thought of a science fantasy. In addition to science, Star Trek focuses on topics like ethics and morality and problem solving. Star Trek often tried to tackle controversial topics in society and to teach its viewer s life lessons such as acceptance to diversity. This gives them security from the habit of deciding how to implement a process. Were we mechanistic we would see more resistance in the forms of having to make major changes in behavioral attitudes of the workforce. We will be creating a revolutionary change or major shift in the sales process. Planning is key to overcoming resistance. While many people believe that most families in America are well functioning families, the novel Montana 1948 shows a good portrayal of a dysfunctional family because they did not have hope for the future and without hope dysfunction will spread through generations of families like a disease, destroying many lives along the way. Some children in today s society aren t all taught the do s and don ts of what is publicly accepted. From different environments children are raised in, they think that whatever they are taught is the right thing. They have no prior knowledge of what is normal. As Marie Hartwell Walker states in Why Dysfunctional Families Stay That Way she shares that, Because they don t know what normal is, a dysfunctional family is participating in the pretense that they are a normal family bringing up children within the range of what is normal. Because we live in a culture that respects family privacy, someone usually has to get badly hurt before the illusion is questioned by anyone outside its ranks, (Hartwell Walker). The main reason of why children have a hard time blending into society is because they are unwilling to change their ideas and values for the fact that they were taught differently. And for the fact that they were taught a different way they get offended when someone tries to change them or criticize them on their upbringing and lifestyle. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Walden share a similar premise about seeking and gaining freedom but go about it very differently. Freedom in Huckleberry Finn comes about through running away, making good friends and having many adventures. Freedom in Waldenhappens when Thoreau is secluded in nature for an extended period of time to be self reflective. Huckleberry Finn is an adolescent and Thoreau is an adult. As an adolescent, I would rather be with friends new or old on a similar adventure as Jim and Huckleberry Finn down the Mississippi because of freedom it represents and the encounters with people and situations along the way. Thoreau s seclusion for years on a pond in the woods means he s alone with nothing but his thoughts to develop personal philosophies on freedom. Diesel Fuel Prices Trucking Industry The recent surge in the cost of heating oil, diesel fuel, and gasoline in the United States has had significant impact on many sectors of the U.S. economy, but most importantly it has had quite a devastating affect on the trucking industry. This is important due to the fact that nearly 70% of U.S. communities rely solely on trucking for their supplies ( ATA 23). If the government continues it s trend of non intervention and refuses to place pressure on OPEC, the prices will continue to soar well over the two dollar mark, and cause the trucking industry as a whole to shut down bringing the U.S. economy to a grinding halt. This may not seem like a big deal but to the refineries that produce the fuel it is a very big deal because all of their equipment would have to be changed to allow for the desulphurization of the fuel. Though the refineries argued against it saying less sulphur would damage engines the EPA upheld their decision. Thus the refineries had to put in new equipment, which in the long run ended up tacking on an additional $ 3.9 billion to already high fuel costs ( Cutting Sulphur 13). One of the industries hardest hit by the fuel cost increase is the trucking industry. Truckers depend on diesel fuel as their lifeblood, without it the rigs and our economy would come to a screeching halt. There is no single affect of high fuel costs on every driver and company; rather there are many varying degrees to which they are all affected.
