requires a thoughtful and comprehensive approach. The difficulty lies in the multifaceted nature
of the subject, as competition encompasses a wide range of fields and contexts. Whether
discussing economic competition, sports rivalries, or academic challenges, the writer must
navigate through diverse aspects, considering both positive and negative dimensions.
Crafting an effective competition essay involves delving into the intricacies of competition itself.
It requires the exploration of competitive dynamics, the impact of rivalry on individuals and
society, and the role it plays in fostering innovation or potentially creating negative
consequences. A well-rounded essay on this topic demands thorough research, critical analysis,
and a nuanced understanding of the subject matter.

2. Suburbanization Produced by Technological Advances in...
The new technology of the motor car became central to the development of
twentieth century cities in the US (Roberts 2009 p53) and by 1914 the US
production had exceeded that of the whole of Europe. What started out as a
transportation toy for the very rich in 1900 became available to ordinary working
class citizens by 1920 (Roberts 2009 p55). The technologies born of the Industrial
Revolution changed forever the way people in the West lived and worked and
economies strengthened as a new era dawned of mass production and consumerism.
But in the 1920s, it was the availability of a mix of technologies and policies which
facilitated the pace and scale of suburbanization and decentralization of the cities in
both the US and Germany... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly this was the case in Germany, it too having been unified in 1871. In the US,
suburbanization occurred with the removal of the masses from high density city
dwellings to single storey houses on the city fringes and beyond, as developers,
insurance companies, bankers and governments collaborated to offer cheap rural land
and mortgages (Chant 2009 p101). On the other hand, in Germany it was
industrialists who moved their workforce en masse to cheap land on main transport
routes where they built new factories and housed their workers in garden suburbs
which were self contained with schools and shops and so suburbanization was more
controlled (Bullock 2009 p235). The most significant difference between Germany
and the US in the growth of suburbanization and development of transport was its
form of local government. In Germany there was a civic system of independent self
rule by municipal governments who were, nevertheless financially and
constitutionally dependent upon the state. The national government intervened only
if and when the interests of the nation or ruling elite were compromised. As the motor
vehicle became a competitor with the railways in providing alternative transport
modes, it implemented transport taxes to pay towards reparations, road safety, road
maintenance and improvements. On the other hand in the US regional planning was
a professional discipline, as in France, and the

Evaluation Of JFK
Through out the course of history, America has seen great Presidents. These men all
exhibited characteristics which helped them to be successful in their endeavor to
become the nations leader. Among those characteristics are traits such as being a
good spokesperson or leader and being fair towards all which makes for a good
President.
As President, one must make numerous speeches. Someone who has a phobia of
making speeches in front of a large group of people, may find this job difficult.

John F. Kennedy may me most memorable for with eloquent speeches. He was a
good spokesperson, proving himself right off the bat with his inaugural address in
1961. These speeches instilled support and confidence in the hearts of those who
listened. One can see how these feelings might come about in this quote by the
President in 1963. quot; What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana
enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not a peace of the grave or
the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that
makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and
to hope to build a better life for their children not merely peace for Americans, but
peace for all men and women: not merely peace in our time, but peace for all time.

President Kennedy was a natural leader. This was noted by Admiral W.F. Halsey.
Saying, quot; His courage, endurance, and excellent leadership contributed to the
saving of several lives and was in keeping with the highest traditions of the United
States Naval Service. quot; Referring to an incident that earned him a purple heart, in
which the future President swam four miles while towing an injured crewman, the
Admiral said this in his part.
More proof of the Presidents leadership skills can be noted in his Aeronautical
motives. As
4. Why Do Political Machines Have Corrupt Power
For years now, business owners and political organizations have abused their power
and position to corrupt the democratic process by using the American people for
their own political and economic agenda. Millionaire business owners have been
exploiting their position to make more money while also taking away their workers
right to vote. This kind of exploitation exists across the country; in California, the
Southern Pacific Railroad company has used their power to overprice their services
and in New York, an large ice company has doubled the price of ice for their
consumers. The situation becomes even more fraudulent when one discovers that
many companies, including these two, have been paying governmentrepresentatives
to avoid legal trouble and forcing their workers to vote to keep these corrupt
officials in office ( Progressive Era... ; The Case for Tammany... ).

Just like corporate business owners, party bosses use their position of power to get
as much money as possible by overtaxing people, cooperating with corrupt
businesses, and working with criminal organizations ( Political Machines ). Even
when a political machine seemingly does something good, they always expect votes
and money in return. A perfect example of this greed is the Tammany Hall machine,
which helped Irish immigrants in New York so that they could have more voters on
their side ( The Case For Tammany... ). America today is overrun with greedy, corrupt
business owners and politicians that are willing to undermine the constitutional rights
of the American people to make more money; the only way to end this is by bringing
a more Progressive government that recognizes the immoral acts of these

6. Pros And Cons Of Ration Books And The Rationing System
Ration books With the onset of WWII, the United States needed a system to savor
their supplies, so the government put in place the rationing system. They used
ration books to get supplies like meat and sugar from grocery stores, a ration book
was kind of like a coupon book, you couldn t buy a rationed item without having a
ration stampfor that item (National WWII museum).
So it s like a mix of a coupon book, and a you have permission to buy this item
stamp. But nothing is perfect, not even the ration books, so here are some cons the
ration books the rationing system spawned. First, that the ration system/books
spawned that was illegal was the black market, since you could only buy
something if you had a rationing stamp from a grocery store, people sometimes
needed more than they had, so the black market allowed people to buy rationed
items for a higher price, and they didn t need the ration stamp for that item (United
States History). One aspect of the rationing system was that the food wasn t very
fresh, so if people wanted some fresh vegetables they had to make their own
gardens (victory gardens) and once they did that their family could enjoy fresh food
for a few months while the garden was still alive, many people did this, there were
approximately 20 million victory gardens (20,000,000) (United States History). In
addition, if you had a ration stamp for an item, it wasn t guaranteed that the store had
the item that you needed because there were a lot of

tolerance that Anne died for and Gerda survived for. (Gruwell, p. 85)

8. The Role Of Oppression In Deep Doves
Religion in the modern world is inescapable. Even if an individual does not consider
oneself to be religious they are constantly surrounded by its presence due to the
influence religion has had on society. Even though the United States proclaims in the
constitution that individuals have the freedom to practice their own religion, in many
cases the minority religions are belittled and the individuals who practice those
religions are disproportionately prosecuted. This is the case seen in the the novel
The Plague of Doves written by Louise Erdrich, when four Indian men are hung
because of their beliefs. Now this behavior in the United States is denied because it is
assumed that all americans stand by the equality of the constitution. Whereas in other
countries, such as in Latin America, there are not necessarily constitutions to openly
defile but minorities are still oppressed because of their religion. Oppression of the
indigenous peoples, because of their religious beliefs, is seen in the novel Deep
Rivers by Jose Maria Arguedas. These novels entwine religion and its oppressive
power by illustrating the individual components of oppression: the oppressors, those
being oppressed, and how opression still resonates in society.
The definition of an oppressor is a person or group that subjects others to unjust
treatment or control. In Deep Rivers the character who embodies the role of an
oppressor is the Old Man. Ernesto meets the Old Man when he and his father
travel to Cuzco. Ernesto depicts the Old Man s vast wealth and how he treats his
brother, Ernesto s father, with very little respect. This blatant lack of respect
becomes apparent when the Old man sends his relatives to sleep in the filthy
kitchen, he had had us sent to the kitchen of his house (17). Ernesto is of the opinion
that, This man could not have been more wicked or powerful than my guardian with
the eyebrows that met over his nose, who had also made me sleep in the kitchen
(17). What really conflicts Ernesto is that he knew that the covent friars prepared
gran evening receptions for [the Old Man], that the clergy greeted him in the streets
(17). This comment serves as evidence to make the connection that this oppressor is a
religious man

The molecular formula for thalidomide is C13H10N2O4 and it has a molar mass of
258.23g/mol. Some of the trade names for thalidomide are thalomid, immunoprin,
talidex and talizer. The main use of thalidomide today is mainly as a treatment for
certain cancers and leprosy. Thalidomide was developed by a German firm called
Chemie Grunenthal. It was first developed as an anticonvulsant drug, but failed to
be effective as an anticonvulsant drug. It was also tested as an antihistamine and
anti biotic. Through early trials they discovered it would not be suitable for this
purpose. The drug thalidomide became first marketed as an over the counter drug
in 1957 called contergan and was mainly prescribed to pregnant women for
morning sickness it was also given as a drug to calm children. Thalidomide
beforehand had however been prescribed as an antidepressant, it was thought to be
effective for both morning sickness and depression. From the 1st of October in
1957 thalidomide was available over the counter in West Germany. Soon after the
drug became available to buy over the counter between 5000 to 7000 women gave
birth to a child with some sort of defect. The first baby born which was effected by
thalidomide was born on Christmas day in 1956 a baby girl was born with no ears.
The woman who gave birth to the child was in fact the wife of a Chemie Grunenthal
employee, he had given her samples of thalidomide

machine that operates relying on individual components to do their job effectively.
This also means that if one component fails to fulfill it s role, this could lead to
chaos or dysfunction in society. This perspective can be recognized as a macro level
theory since at a distance it looks at how society moves in harmony with the help

Representation of Christianity in Charles Dickens Works
The representation of Christianity in Charles Dickens works was both debated and
largely overlooked by his contemporaries, particularly because of his lack of
representation of the views of the Established Church. In fact, Dickens voiced his
opposition to the practices of the Anglican Church. His negative representations of
Church officials, in many of his novels, pointed out what he felt were the hypocrisies
of the Church. Dickens was a liberal Christian and believed in a more humanitarian
view of Christianity. He wanted to remove religion from the high Church and place it

Dickens, a liberal Christian, viewed the dogma, teachings, and debates of the church
with disdain. For instance, in a letter to Miss Burdett Coutts, the headmistress of the
Home For Fallen Women, Dickens expressed what he believed to be a community
wide dissatisfaction with the Anglican Church for its indolent temporizing and its
miserable internal squabbles, [so much so] that [the congregation had] lost their
natural interests in the struggle (Johnson 185). Dickens was dissatisfied with the
Protestant church s (or any church s) use of text to claim religious authority for their
interpretation of the Bible (Ackroyd 506). Dickens believed these internal debates
were the cause of the people s disinterest in religion and thereby negatively affected
their faith in Christianity. He felt that the only way to set right these abuses of the
church was through religious reform (Johnson 185). Dickens was so adamant about
the necessity of Church reform that he advocated governmental intervention: when I
reflect upon all of this, in my unvarying faith that [Parliamentary] Reform is the only
true Preservation [of the Church] (Johnson 185). While some of Dickens
contemporaries believed his criticism of the church revealed anti Christian sentiment,
Dickens viewed his faith as deeper than that of the Established Church. He saw the
beliefs of the Established Church

17. The Physics Of Galileo ( 1564-1642 )
An object at rest stays at rest, and an object in motion stays in motion, with the same
speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. (Sir Isaac
Newton Law of Inertia)
Before the early 17th century, scientists were convinced that an object (pushed across
another surface), only came to a rest once the force/s behind it stopped working.
Galileo (1564 1642) a great Italian physicist, mathematician, astronomer and
philosopher realised this was not the case. He concluded that the loss of such an
objects motion was caused not by the dissipation of its original energy, but rather due
to the interaction of a counteracting force known as friction. Understanding how
friction acts, and the factors that affect it has been a focal point of physics ever since.
Forces and Friction
Measured in Newtons and symbolised by F , a force, in its simplest terms, is a push
or a pull an interaction between one object and another that is responsible for
changes in the motion, direction or shape of the object/s affected. The greater the
force, the greater the impact it will have.
Not all forces affect objects in the same way however. Non contact forces are able to
exert a push or a pull upon an object despite a physical separation. Examples
included: gravity, magnetism, and electricity. Contact forces on the other hand, can
only affect an object through direct contact, such as air resistance, applied force, and
frictional force.
As a contact force, friction
18. Charles Sellers The Market Revolution Summary
Sellers, Charles. The Market Revolution: Jacksonian America, 1815 1846. New
York: Oxford University Press, 1991. The Market Revolution attempts to look at the
United States in its most critical period. Beginning after the United States victory in
the War of 1812, the focus shifts to how the United States will undergo rapid change
with a new generation of Americans taking part in an emerging free market economy.
The Market Revolution is written by Charles Sellers, a professor at the University of
California, Berkeley. Sellers is an American history professor who has done extensive
research of the nineteenth century United States. This century saw the transformation
of the United States from an agrarian republic into an industrialized entrepreneurial
power. Facing an identity crisis with the emergence of the free market as well as
politics between the Federalists and Jeffersonian republicans is the beginning of
Sellers thesis. With a focus on how the free market is responsible for this
transformation, Sellers focuses on the family structure of the American society from

Bringing a new viewpoint on the nineteenth century allows a reader to see through
the position of eternal class struggle. With new perspective, Sellers interprets his
sources well to support his thesis through the use of topics that fit the spectrum of left
wing ideology. The book remains an important source in nineteenth century, but the
reader must be prepared to endure the repetition of Marxist terminology. The Market
Revolution shows the transformation of the United States during the nineteenth
century through a Marxist lens where capitalism was seen as the cause of
abandonment on the foundations of previous society relating to subsistent farmers
and the family structure. History is written as fact, but Sellers uses his personal
ideals to show the fledging republic s free market obsession in a new
19. Human Anatomy Based On Dissection
Art is word that most individuals have an idea, a mental category, of yet often fail
to truly define. This is due to the fact that art is a term that has existed for
thousands of years and thus its meaning and lexicography has changed drastically
over the years based on endless factors. Art started off being defined as a craft,
measured by the technical prowess of the artist and used as tool in the retelling of
history or for religious practices and doctrine. From there, it evolved into a practice
of replication, attempting to create the most realistic of images, particularly around
the time of the renaissance, with the invention of linear perspective and a growing
understanding of human anatomy based on dissection. In the renaissance, the more
technically capable an artist is in recreating life, the more talented he is seen to be.
However, movements like impressionism, a reaction to the invention of
photography, now aimed for, not realism, but the capturing of the impression of the
image, using colour and broad brushstrokes, giving pieces an unfinished look.
Symbolism and expressionism aimed for a less literal view of the world. In
reaction to freud s interpretation of dreams, surrealism aimed to explore the creative
potential of the human psyche, while the modernist movement resulted in art that
can be as simple as painting squares on a canvas or signing your name on a urinal.

I chose this book because I remember hearing on the news about Malala but I did
not pay much attention to what was going on. She has received many awards but I
had no idea why. My knowledge of what Malala was limited and I only knew that
she wanted women to be able to receive education. Many celebrities have talked
about Malala and I have seen her do many interviews on television. I decided to
read her book to get knowledge of what she did to get targeted by the Taliban.
2.Summarize and review the book. Be sure to include its Lexile score and any
qualitative factors that might determine its complexity level.
I Am Malala is an autobiography of Malala s life in Pakistan when the Taliban took
over the Swat Valley. Malala s father founded an all girls school, which Malala
attends with other girls. Eventually, the Taliban take over Pakistan and girls have
to sneak to get an education. She has many hardships and Pakistan becomes a
warzone because of the terrorists. Women have no freedom. Malala becomes the
spokesperson for all women to be free and gets a target on her back because of it.

Your assignment was to read a piece of nonfiction that caters to an adolescent
audience. How does the text you selected cater to that audience?
4.Respond to one of the following three questions:
What content knowledge could students gain from this text?
In my opinion, I Am Malala, would be a great book to teach students about girl s
educations and rights in Pakistan. Students would also get insight of the negative
effects of Taliban. Many students would have heard about Taliban in the news but do
not know exactly how devastating they were to the people in Pakistan. Students will
be greatly impacted and not take their education for granted. Malala was almost
murdered to be able to get and education that is free to them. I Am Malala teaches
students to stand up for what they
21. Passion In Ozarks Farm And Neighbor
Passion.
Passion has many definitions in the dictionary, most of which address emotion or
strong feelings of desire. Another meaning is an intense driving or overmastering
feeling or conviction.
Since I came to Ozarks Farm Neighbor, I have had the privilege to meet countless
people who share a passion for agriculture and farming. Some are new to farming
and/or livestock production, while others have been immersed in agriculture their
whole lives. No matter how they came to be involved in agriculture, it has become
their passion.
On a farm visit a while back, a first generation livestock producer shared a
conversation with me he had with another new farmer. The men were discussing how
farming was much harder, mentally and physically, then they ever imagined, and how
they weren t going to get rich ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An organic or non GMO producer is passionate about getting a high quality product
to their customers without the use of certain medications, chemicals or feeds. A
conventional producer is also passionate about producing a high quality product, but
he/she use a herbicide or pesticides, offer grain to their livestock and give a shot of
antibiotic when needed. Both producers have the same goal, just a different approach
and their own unique tools to obtain that goal. Is one producer s way of doing things
wrong and another s right? Are the passions of the producers any different?
It s unfortunate, but I see more and more debate among those involved in
production agriculture about which is the best practice. It s kind of like fighting
over which is the best tractor; is there really a viable reason to argue? If you re happy
with one color and how it works for you and your operation, and your neighbor has
a different colored tractor and it works well for their operation, is there really reason
to disagree about which is the best? It call comes down to individual
22. The Productivity Of South Africa Essay
Productivity, defined as making the most of limited resources, is a paramount
economic goal, whereas labour productivity the contribution that labour makes to
overall productivity is a central force in the labour market.
It s is said that South Africa still faces major challenges to improve its
competitiveness and ensure it translates into improved national productivity.
Although growth slowed in the financial sector last year, it and agriculture were the
only two sectors in which labour productivity and output remained strong. But both
sectors were unpredictable, and needed to improve on business efficiency to mitigate
costs. In agriculture, forestry and fishing there was an increase in real output growth
of 2.2% last year despite a 6.8% decrease in labour productivity growth. A few
sectors of the economy have performed well, with the mining sector yielding a
growth rate of 3.1% from minus 3.6%... but the positive growth rate was not
accompanied by an increase in labour input in the mining sector, which experienced a
decline of 3.1%, Productivity SA chief economist Keneuoe Mosoang said. He said the
data showed that of the 20 manufacturing sub sectors, seven demonstrated declining
productivity indicators (labour, capital and multifactor productivity). The sub sectors
under most duress were leather, food and rubber. (sanews, 2015)
Another area that needed urgent focus was the electricity, gas and water sector. It
experienced relatively lower growth in compensation of
23. The Year I Would Not Say 2003
I would not say 2003 was my brightest year. Actually, I do not think I had that yet
but it was the year I started to notice how terrible the public school system in the
city of Saint Louis could be. Not to say every teacher didn t care but, it was
something special about the teachers I encountered in this year. A certain I don t care
attitude that they gave off. This was never more apparent than in my 6th grade
homeroomclass at Froebel elementary.
My homeroom teacher, Mr. Harris, a six foot tall elderly man stood up from the
faded brown chair pointing his wrinkled index finger at every single word on the
chalk board in front of me and the tired class. His greyish black mustache slowly
rose from his mouth as he said the goal for the day. Just do something! he shouted
as he pointed at the board. He always had an attitude when he was speaking to the
class for some reason. His wrinkled Blue dress shirt and dark brown pants was a
perfect representation of his attitude, bland. I know you all are going to sleep and
laugh through the whole day. So do the other teachers a favor and don t snore loud.
He said turning his face to us. His glasses looked as old as he was. The black paint
on them began to chip showing the hidden metal frame as the light from the
ceiling shined down on his wrinkled brown face. He rarely smiled but today he chose
to because it was a special day and boy was it pleasant . His teeth were yellow and I
could smell his breath from the middle of
24. Who Is Bartleby The Scrivener
The narrator in Melville s short story, Bartleby the Scrivener is put in a tough
position as he hires a new scrivener, Bartleby. I sympathize more with the narrator
as he is simply trying to go about his job while Bartleby s troubled state and
disobedience proves to he a hassle. Initially, Bartleby produced extraordinary work
but then slowly declined to producing nothing. Being a scrivenerproved a exhausting
and demanding job but when asked to look over copies Bartleby would reply that
he prefers not to . Most bosses in the position of the narrator would simply fire
Bartleby but the narrator simply stops asking Bartleby to do any work as he cares
about Bartleby s well being. When the narrator finds Bartleby living in the office he
says, My first emotions had been those of pure melancholy and sincerest pity.... Show

Being the kind person that he is, the narrator was ready to offer Bartleby a place in
his home but Bartleby simply replied that he preferred not to . Therefore, in order
to protect his reputation, the narrator had to move offices and Bartleby was taken
to the tombs. In order to protect Bartleby the narrator left him money as well
ensured he would get food in prison. I sympathize with the narrator as he was ready
to care for someone who needed his help and worked to understand Bartleby s
needs throughout the story. The narrator in the story seems to be a character of
good moral and works hard to be a good boss. He appears to be someone who is
benevolent and acts out of self interest to treat his employees
25. My Dream Journal
I always finished my journal entries before breakfast. I was increasingly glad for
having kept a dream journal. It hadn t been easy at the beginning, but I quickly got
accustomed to it. The doctor was adamant about finding coping mechanisms. After
the first two treatment attempts failed, he decided we would be trying something
more esoteric, I would try to distance myself from the attack, merely studying the
situation, acting as an observer, recording everything I saw. I had been suffering
from awful sleep paralysis episodes regularly for the previous five months. My
parents took me to see several doctors and finally settled on a psychiatrist who
claimed to be experienced in the treatment of the disorder. For some time he
looked for the underlying causes, I was treated for everything from depression to
narcolepsy, however, nothing seemed to work, that s when the dream journal
began, and soon after I began to notice something wasn t quite adding up. You see,
I developed a bit of a habit, I would record my experiences in the journal after the
episode was over, every single day, and then to somewhat still my heart I went over
some of what I had written previously. Eventually, this method started showing
some results for me, I would even laugh at myself for being frightened by such a
silly situation. Plus, the episodes didn t have any effect on my body apart from
scaring me a bit, so I could certainly learn to cope. And then I almost died. I was
crossing a street in my
26. Industrial Revolutions
Historically, industrial revolutions have caused the most notable changes in work.
The First Industrial Revolution, driven by steam, and the Second Industrial
Revolution, driven by electricity, led to an increase in technology, production, and
jobs especially among women, as illustrated by the photo of Rosie the Riveter,
depicting a woman in the workforce urging other women to engage in employment
(Human Development Report; Miller). While there had been fears of future
unemployment due to the rapid rise in machines performing the tasks of people, in
1962, President John F. Kennedy quelled these fears by claiming, If men have the
talent to invent new machines that put men out of work, they have the talent to put
those men back to work ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Early in A World Without Work, The Atlantic expresses fear for future employment
by predicting an era of technological unemployment (Thompson 7). However, The
Atlantic also notes, The U.S. labor force has been shaped by millennia of

While in the past, employers searched for pinsetters, milk men, newspaper readers,
ice cutters, and typists, now, those occupations as well as similar jobs have been
eliminated due to the increased role that technology has played. However, the United
States Department of Labor shows that new jobs are constantly appearing. In fact,
During the Clinton Gore administration, more than 19 million new jobs...[were]
created a rate of growth more than twice that of the previous decade. High technology
industries account for one million of these new jobs ( Futurework ). With the increase
in technology around the world, thus, an increase in globalization, new generations

He complains she doesn t do enough work on the farm and that she doesn t

to put his fear into words. Instead he brushes off Janie s threat and believes she will

28. Critical Analysis Of Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 2
Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 2
Dmitri Shostakovich is known as one of the most major composers within the 20th
century. This composer, born in 1906 in Saint Petersburg, Russia discovered his
musical talent at age 9 after beginning piano lessons with his mother. Throughout the
years, he learned full piano and composition which lead to his graduation from the
Saint Petersburg Conservatory at age 19 with his first symphony. Shostakovich often
times found difficulty in balancing his artistic inspiration and the demands of the
soviet state. Shostakovich is recognized for his themes of solemn ambivalence as
well as for his ability to incorporate deep emotional range within his work. For this
review, I chose to watch Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 2. This concert was
performed by the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the USSR. The conductor
of this concert was Yevgeny Svetlanov and the violoncellist performing was Mstislav
Rostropovich. Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 2 was performed in the Large Hall
of Moscow State Conservatory on September 25th, 1966.
This concerto is about 35 minutes long and has three movements throughout the
work. In my opinion, Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 2 is full of unpredictability
and emotional melancholy. It seems as if the first movement conveys such a dark
tone which within itself exemplifies the piece in a dreary and mysterious light. It
feels as if some extremely somber themes are being explored within the beginning of
the movement. The
29. Key Elements Of Political Democracy
A government by the people, for the people of the United States. The word traces
back to the Greek word demos meaning people and krater, meaning power . Political
democracy is one of the major elements of American freedom. Owning property was a
key element in the political movement and environment. Some states restricted the
voting rights of the poor who did own property. In 1850, the constitutional convention
changed the law. It stated that the personal independence necessary in the citizen now
rested, not in the ownership of property, but ownership of oneself.
In October 1844, proponents of the democratic reform, organized a peoples
convention, which drafted a new state constitution. It enabled all white adult men,
and eliminated blacks entirely. A new reform gave blacks the right to vote.
Thomas Dor, governor of Rhode Island was mainly responsible for blacks not
being able to vote, by a movement he pushed, which allowed only white males that
qualified could vote. President Tyler sent troops to Rhode Island where Governor
Dor was arrested and sent to prison for two years with charges of treason. This
prompted legislature to eliminate the law that only white property owners could
vote. In the early 1830 s Alex Tocqueville , a French historian and politician wrote
the holy cult of freedom , he encountered on his own visit to the United States. His
key insite was; democracy meant far more than the right to vote, or a particular set of
instructions. It was a habit of
30. Elizabethan Era Beauty
Beauty in the Elizabethan Era and Much Ado About Nothing Throughout history,
literature has been a way for people to expand their viewpoint and appreciate the
world around them through different cultures and traditions presented in a story. C.
S. Lewis explains that through literature; We seek an enlargement of our being. We
want to be more than ourselves (137). This explains that through literature, people
learn lessons and read because they want to learn from these lessons and better
themselves. Many influential writers throughout history have brought different ideas
and lessons that have helped shape the society we know today. One writer who has
had a tremendous impact on society is William Shakespeare. Shakespeare s works
are still well read and can be related to today even though the Elizabethan Erain
which he lived in is different from the culture of the modern world. However, the
Elizabethan Era still has aspects of its society that can resonate with that of the
modern day. One of those aspects is the stereotypes that women were faced with
during the Elizabethan Era. The Elizabethan Era was a time of social reform for
women. Though women became more educated and seen in a different light than
what they were used to, the era in no way brought them to the equivalence of a
women in today s society. Women were still seen as inferior by men and men still
believed they were the greatest creation in the world. Tim Stretton states, In almost

31. The Causes Of Honey Bees
Honey bees, feared by the misinformed and admired by the intelligent, are dying.
The interest in bees from many environmentalists is not for a sudden cause, as this
issue is not new to the world. Honey bees as a population have been in decline for
years but have yet to reach the endangered species list anywhere in the United
States except for Hawaii. Many people kill bees that buzz around joyfully, simply
because they are afraid of being stung by them; however, a vast majority of bees do
not sting and the others do not care. This unfortunate commonality is not even one
of the top causes of the worldwide epidemic of honey bees. Although bees are
jokingly idolized on the internet in pictures and videos as a result of a popular
children s movie, their population decline is in fact quite serious. Honey bees and
other pollinators like birds and insects ensure the pollination of flowering plants and
crops all around the globe. Not only do honey bees pollinate plants that produce the
foods that humans eat, but they also pollinate trees that produce clean oxygen for
Earth. Without honey bees, the world as we know it could soon end, due to carbon
dioxide pollution and lack of farmable foods. The population of honeybees and other
important pollinator beespecies is dwindling due to a dilemma known to scientists as
colony collapse disorder(CCD) because of the use of bee killing pesticides, known as
neonicotinoids, the decrease of flowermeadows in the world, and the general increase
32. Pros And Cons Of Adderall As A Stimulant
One of the most shocking things that I learned is that Adderall is a stimulant. I knew
that Adderall has an amphetamine base, however, I never made the connection. I
know several people from my past and now that take Adderall, some without a
prescription. Knowing that Adderall is a stimulant makes it seem entirely more
dangerous than I saw it before. Adderall is a common drugnow, people of all ages are
consumers. Adderall is so common, legally and illegally, that I am sure most people
are unaware of the interactions it can cause with other drugs. Adderall is generally
viewed as a harmless drug for ADD and ADHA, but when you look at it from the
perspective of having amphetaminein it, it appears much more dangerous.

I envision heaven with gold streets that we can walk down, and gates made of
pearls. God and Jesus sitting on huge thrones, mansions with angels always flying
around everywhere and the love for each other is unreal. This is a place that is
definitely the definition of perfection like nothing we have ever experienced
before. Don Piper, also visited heaven; he describes the exquisite iridescent gate
that stood before him. He walked up to the gate and started to see people he knew
had died while he was on earth. Crowds of people welcomed him to heaven, many
that knew him and many that he did not know. He was overwhelmed with the
joyfulness and love that he was feeling was surreal (Piper and Murphey 23). In the
people s faces, he felt a serenity that he had never seen before while they were all
praising God. The light was so vivid with the astonishing colors, the most
spectacular rainbow you could ever imagine; which is also the way the bible
explains the light. Don s most memorable memory of heaven was the swooshing of
the wings from angels as they all sung only joyful songs and praises of God (Piper
and Murphey 30). This was seen through the gates; as they never entered heaven.
At the same time, Colton, also told us he got to see Jesus rainbow horse and he got
to pet him (Burpo and Vincent 63). Jesus had angels sing to Colton since he was
scared. He described Jesus as wearing the whites white robe with purple on it and he

34. Student Loans And Student Loan Debt
Samantha Hillstrom, a CNN production assistant, is living out her lifelong dream in
television. Unfortunately, at a staggering $1,200 per month in student loan repayment
debt partly because she was misinformed of the terms of her student loan (55). Debt is
foreseeable but student loan debt can leave borrowers distraught at the mere thought
of the unrealistic terms (Hillstrom 55). All students entering college need to be aware
of student loans and how they impact the future; either negatively or positively.
For some students, a college degree is the key to success but for others the
completion of formal education also introduces a huge burden. Many students desire
higher education but increasing enrollment rates have driven up the cost of college
tuition and fees; therefore, forcing some students to offset the cost with student loans
whereas the loans are often accompanied by debt ( A College 6). Student loans
generate an average debt of twenty thousand dollars per student inevitably student
loans are necessary for two thirds of all students. (Collinge 76). Per data from the
College Board, the repayment of student loans becomes a challenge for some
borrowers, especially students who do not complete the program and those students
who sought a less than marketable degree ( A College 8). The American Council on
Education suggests, one fifth of undergraduates with personal loans overlook the
possibility of being eligible for a federal student loan; consequently, private loans

What do you think of when you think of an old country song? Is it singing about
plowing the fields, find a young lassie to dance with in the bar, getting drunk with
the boys and so on. If That Ain t Country by David Allan Coe tries to shine a new
light on what country is and that is white trash hicks, which he suggests are
forgotten people in the world. We listen to this song and will giggle at some of the
lyrics or are startled by how some parts are pretty racist, but it has a very true side
of it that shows that country folk aren t all classy, church going folk. The
beginning of this song is an essentially a summary of what his life was like
growing up in Texas. It almost seems like he tries to hit every stereotype possible
such as The old man was covered with tattoos and scars/ He got some in prisons
and others in bars suggesting that his father was a mean drunk and also ex
convict. The next stereotype is They looked liked tombstones in our yard
suggesting the old, rusting cars in the their yard that Dad would fix up and the
stereotype of white trash people leaving crap in there yard is in play here. In all of
these stereotypes he does suggest that his Dad worked hard to make ends meet. This

38. Why I Chose Graphics Interchange Format Essay
The purpose of this memo is to discuss the following: why I chose Graphics
Interchange Format (GIFs) as the alternative digital form and how it accommodated
my author, the rhetorical decisions I made when persuading my author that the
edits would benefit them and why GIFs would be appealing to a wider audience. I
will address the decisions I made concerning the GIFs, the layout of the manuscript
on the page, and what platform the story should be published on. When discussing
the edits, I will give specific reasons why I believe that this form will enhance the
tone of the story, bring it to life and boost its popularity.
Alternative Digital Form
Concluding that GIFs would be a beneficial alternative digital form for my author was
not easy nor was it immediate. Jonathan Galbreath s, Maniacs in the Fourth
Dimension, is a creative and unique short story and I wanted to preserve those
aspects of it with whatever form I chose. When combing through his manuscript to
decide what I wanted to focus on, I realized I enjoyed the ending of the story the
most. The overall tone to the story is monotonous as it describes the everyday life
of Nikolas Hatch, who has not slept in fifteen years. When reading the story, I got
the sense that everything was black and white, yet the characters and setting were
full of life. I chose GIFs because they would bring the story to life with moving
images.
Since my author is relatively new to writing short stories and to the world of
publishing, I wanted
39. The Pros And Cons Of Sugar
Sugar
Sweets are fun, Sweets are yum!

Now days we find sugar in almost every food we buy in the supermarket. Most
people don t take a look of the amount of sugar they are ingering in their daily diet,
but there are many things they should know before buying something and not

you know what sugar is? Well, sugar is a carbohydrate called sucrose. Sugar is made
up of fructose and glucose, glucose is used by the body for energy and fructose if

An interesting good fact about sugar is thath it helps food last longer acting like a
preservative in foods like jam, fruit and vegetables. It is used to balance the acid
taste in food, it Works within yeast to make bread rise and it also make food taste

Also sugar raises up your energy surprisingly fast. But you need to make sure that
if you want long lasting energy is better to eat a fruit high in sugar as a bannana or
an Apple. This is because if you eat things like a chocolate, coke, Candy bars or
other sweets with added sugar your energy eventhough it would be raised realy fast

Moreover, following the findings of a research conducted by the Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA), Hyundai was found to have overstated the mileage

42. Examples of Jung’s Analytical Archetype Theory in the
Film...
Martin Scorsese directed the movie Shutter Island, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, that
came out on February 19, 2010. The movie portrays many different examples of
critical theory. Having watched the movie before my analysis, when I heard of Jung s
Analytical Archetype theory I linked it with this movie almost immediately. Carl Jung
, a Swiss psychiatrist, developed the idea that all archetypes are universal images that
come from the collective unconsciousand are almost instinctive to us all. Jung s
critical theory examines the unique personal collective unconscious of the characters
in the film. These can vary anywhere from forgotten memories to traumas, keeping all
religious, spiritual, and mythological symbols and experiences intact. It is from this
point of view that it becomes easier to explain all the similarities between stories.
There are three factors when you look at archetypes, which are characters, situations,
and symbols.
Plot Overview
Shutter Island is set in the 50 s and Edward Daniels, Teddy, is the protagonist we
first encounter in the beginning of the movie. He s portrayed as a US Marshall who
s sent to Shutter Island where there s a psychiatric facility, Ashecliffe Hospital to
investigate the disappearance of a female patient with his new partner Chuck Aule.
Teddy tells Chuck that he wanted to get this case because the man who killed his
wife in a fire, Andrew Laeddis, was also on the island and went missing months ago.

43. Utilitarianism Is Inconsistent With The Demands Of
Friendship
Friendship requires partiality and altruism. If one aims to build a friendship, s/he
must show partiality by making sacrifices that benefit this friend in lieu of
maximizing pleasure for all. Utilitarianism requires persons to act only in ways that
benefit hedonic utility maximizing pleasure while minimizing pain. Utilitarianism
forgoes partiality and requires that an individual only commit actions that benefit the
greater good. Thus, friendshipan act that requires partiality and Utilitarianism an act
that requires impartiality cannot coexist. This raises problems for the utilitarian
because many persons would agree that friendship serves an integral function in any
human life. It seems that no ethical framework should require persons to forgo
anything central to our understanding of life as Utilitarianism might. A person who
wholly espouses Utilitarianism cannot serve as a good friend because the two
contradict each other. Utilitarianism requires one to act impartially while friendship
builds its foundation on partiality.
Roadmap:
In this essay, I will argue for Shafer Landau s suggestion that Utilitarianism is
inconsistent with the demands of friendship. First, I will assert that a true utilitarian
cannot also act as a true friend as result of the two having conflicting and
contradictory ends. Next, I will object my original argument using the claim that
Utilitarianism does often suggest that persons offer preference to their friends and
family. Finally, I
44. Heisman Trophy
Have you ever been the best sports player on your team or in the league but not
been rewarded for your outstanding efforts? Well this is how Stanford s sophomore
versatile, All American running back Christian McCaffrey feels. 13 games later,
after all the shattered records, he flew back home to Palo Alto empty handed. In
Sports Illustrated s article Why Christian McCaffrey Should Win the Heisman
Trophy , the writer, Lindsay Schnell, makes a strong case for why Christian
McCaffrey should win College Footballs most prestigious trophy instead of Alabama
s ground and pound workhorse Derrick Henry or Clemson s hybrid Quarterback
Deshaun Watson. No matter the race, the size, the abilities of the player, Christian
McCaffrey should win the Heisman
45. Understand The Common Process Of Appointing The
Prime...
The central focus of this essay is to understand the common process of appointing
the Prime Minister, interpreting how Theresa May was selected and to
comprehend as to whether or not this process was fair. Traditionally, the leader of
the political party that can control a majority in the House of Commons, shall be
appointed Prime Minister. When a Prime Minister resigns, he or she advises the
Queen , however this is only a suggestion, she isn t obliged. This is a rather
inadequate factor as the Monarch has Royal Prerogative , a privilege of entitlement
in appointing whoever she wishes to fulfil this role. As Harold Nicolson wrote in
1952 When the head of a Government resigns, or is defeated in Parliament , the
choice of his successor devolves upon the King alone . Although the Queen can
lawfully select anybody she wishes, this is overruled by constitutional conventions, a
set of rules which guide her in this process. On June 23rd,2016 the results of the
referendum called by David Cameron, changed the political landscape of England.
David Cameron, former Prime Minister led the campaign to remain during the
referendum, however he was unsuccessful and an incumbent Prime Minister. Thus he
had to resign, The Prime Minister resigned on Friday 24th June . Theresa May...

The reason being is that she commanded a handsome amount of support in both
rounds of her party s vote. Her final contender Andrea Leadson left the race, leaving
only Theresa May standing. The Conservative party was left without a leader and due
to Theresa May being a more cogent and experienced politician than the other
candidates , she was unequivocally the most suitable candidate for the role of the
Prime Minister. This displays that this process was equal and at no point was it
uncandid. Respectfully Westminster have remained democratic throughout the
difficult circumstances relating to the resignation of David
46. Should Mold Sampling Be Performed At All Essay
Should mold sampling be performed at all?
Credible organizations in the indoor air quality community, such as the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC),
and American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), advocate against routine mold
sampling. Looking for evidence of water damage and visible mold growth is the first
priority. If visible mold is present, sampling is usually unnecessary and the mold
should be appropriately remediated. The species of mold or whether sampling has
been done do not affect the need for or the manner of remediation. In addition, there
are no standards for acceptable levels of mold in the indoor environment; so there is
no standard to which to compare any mold sampling results. ... Show more content on

However, there are perhaps a few specific situations when mold sampling might be
useful and performed. Sampling for mold is expensive, and you should have a
clear reason for doing so. In situations where visible mold is present and there is a
specific need to have the mold identified, surface or bulk sampling might be
warranted. In certain instances, such as cases where health concerns are an issue,
litigation is involved, or the source(s) of contamination is unclear, sampling may be
considered as part of a building evaluation. Also, if mold is suspected but not visibly
detected after a thorough inspection, then microbial air sampling, conducted in
accordance with guidance documents, might reveal evidence of mold amplification
indoors or hidden reservoirs behind walls and other building structures. Additionally,
if mold is being removed and there is a question about how far the colonization
extends, then surface or bulk sampling, in combination with moisture readings,
might be applicable. Surface sampling might also be useful to determine if an area
has been adequately cleaned or remediated. If samples are collected, regardless of the
purpose, the results should help answer a clear question. Sampling without a specific
purpose and a well thought out sampling plan greatly increases the chances of
generating useless
47. Ducati’S History. Ducati Has Built An Image Of A
Race-Focused
Ducati s History Ducati has built an image of a race focused company with a
longstanding reputation dating back to 1950 when Ducati built their first bike.
Ducati s superior engine technology enabled them to build a name in the international
bike racing community, winning multiple times throughout the sixties and seventies;
they eventually succumbed to problems on the management end, after being sold by
their parent company, IRI. After two troublesome decades in which Ducati was sold
and acquired twice by different companies, in 1996 the Texas Pacific Group
purchased Ducati and assigned Federico Minoli as CEO, who transformed the
company into the competitive Ducati we know today. Recommendation 1: Cruiser
The first option Federico... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would recommend that if Ducati is to create a cruiser, it would have to be a
Ducati adaptation , in which we would see a much sportier version that could
create a buzz in the already saturated market dominated by HD. This would allow
for product differentiation and innovation, two factors that will prove to be
keystones in the success of the product. If successful, and using very modest sales
estimates in Appendix 4, the product would be profitable, considering it is priced
at a point slightly below HD s cruisers, at $12,000 compared to the average of
$13,500 for HD. Furthermore, the initial investment of $17 million would need to
be covered. A very basic NPV calculation with a 7.5% Discount rate yields the
result that with a five year lifespan, the project is worth $2,174,308.88, which is a
good investment. Per the weight of the information, I would recommend that
Ducati follows this strategy as it provides them with the most immediate results, as
well as a boost in money rather than a temporary loss. Market shares should rise for
Ducati, and they will turn into a revitalized and diversified company that would
essentially create a new niche within the sport bikes category: The Sports Cruiser.
Recommendation 2: Utilize new distribution channels to boost sales. Ducati s
presence in the market is quite lacking to say the least. With a 7% market share,
Ducati still has a long way to go, and even the 10% share target is quite low. As a

It shows that light can come out of darkness, because this baby will be my
everything. Even though he or she was conceived during such horrible times she
is going to be the reason I want to survive this war. However that s not my only
reason to believe that light can come out of darkness. I told Lena the story of how
it was in the ghetto when my mother was living. I said, When we d return from
work, she d make us dinner, She always told me she wasn t hungry. Shed take a few
bites and say, Here, Karolina, you eat the rest. ..... My mother sacrificed herself
and starved so I could live. Before the war I despised my mother. She was a drunk,
who never did anything for me, but when we came to ghetto she showed me how
much she loved me and how strong she was. This showed me that light can come
out of darkness because these circumstances that we endured brought out the good
in my mother. The mother who sacrificed herself for me to survive. On top of that I
was lucky to find a good man that I loved who was willing to break the law for

50. How Temperature Affects Enzyme Activity
The overall impact of this study helps understand how temperature affects enzyme
activity, and it is apparent that changes in temperature do have an effect on the
enzyme catalase. The results obtained in the experiment a give increased insight in
the role of enzymes in the human body. The chicken liver is similar to the human
liver, and it is clear that catalaseworks at an optimum temperatureof 22В°C. This is
important because humans maintain a stable body temperature of 37 В°C, and with
the aid of enzymes this temperature provides enough activation energy for metabolic
reactions, in this case the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide into oxygengas and liquid
water. The difference in the two living organisms is 15 C. A possible weakness in

As, the enzymes found in the liver of a chicken and the enzymes found in a human
liver are not too similar what the difference in Celsius between the two maybe due to
an error in the experiment. As the data concluded that chicken enzymes worked best
at 22 C which does not maintain true with the optimal temperature of a humans which
is 37 C. Another possible area for error would be the duration of time that the subjects
were exposed to the temperatures. The duration was only a minute and possible could
have not given the enzymes enough time to fully create an adequate reaction that
allowed them to preform optimally. Our group simultaneously placed the four test
tubes in each temperature, it was difficult to obtain an accurate measurement. All four
test tubes were removed from their temperatures at the exact same time, but only the
hydrogen peroxide was added to one test tube at a time. As my partners and I were
conducting the experiment with one test tube, the other test tubes were left
unattended and had the time to either cool off or warm up, and this affected the
reaction rate and the accuracy of the measurements of each

52. Comparing Heroes In The Illiad, And Beowulf
The two epic poems, the Illiad, and Beowulf possess heroes that exemplify many
traits. In the epic, the Illiad, Achilles the main character portrays passion and
forgiveness. For example, Achilles is passionate when it comes to protecting his
people and his land. On the flip side, in the epic Beowulf, the hero, Beowulf, has to
face the towns fear, Grendel. Beowulf is loyal and courageous throughout the epic.
In many ways these two heroes, Achilles and Beowulf, are alike each other. Achilles
shows his passion much like Beowulf shows his loyalty by protecting the people
they care about. Doing so is important to both heroes. Specifically. Beowulf
volunteers to help king Hrothgar save the Danes from Grendel when it isn t his
problem to begin

54. Agar Jelly Lab Report
4. EVALUATION AND CONCLUSION
CONCLUSION
The data did support my hypothesis as stating that the larger a cell is, the harder it
is for diffusion to take place as the surface area to volume ratio decreases
throughout evidence supported. There is a pattern in table 5 shows that, the
surface area to volume ratio decreases when the agar jelly increases in size from 1cm
to 3cm cube by a ratio of 6 to a ratio of 2, showing that average rate of diffusion
which decreases as the size of the agar increases has a linkage to cells as cells
increase in sizes. If a cell grows beyond a certain size, materials will not be able to
pass through the membrane fast enough to accommodate the inside of the cell. So
when the cell reaches a size too large, it will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Firstly to make sure that the agar blocks are accurately enough, we could use a tri
square ( 90 degree ruler ) to measure the 90 degrees angles of a cube to make sure
that the cubes are sliced or cut correctly. Secondly to make sure that the mixture
could be stirred well, we could use a magnetic stirrer so that the string of the
mixture is passive and those not fluctuate and increasing the accuracy for the
experiment. Lastly, it is to also time the time that the agar is completely diffused by
the sulphuric acid which could be used as a comparison between the time took to
change the agar phenolphthalein cubes to become completely clear which could
increase the arguments for cell size increasing decreases the rate of diffusion. The
amount of data was enough as there are more than 5 different datas for every
variable which increase the reliability of the
