2. Genre
When creating our storyline we wanted to present our film
like no other within our genre of Crime/ Thriller to hook our
audience from just the opening.
To do this we had to create a storyline that had a major
difference to others of the genre.
We did this by focusing the story on the main character
and having two smaller characters to show a contrast in
characteristics for the audience to enjoy instead of just one
sidekick.
3. Genre: Soundtrack
The soundtrack immediately
gives the audience an idea of
the genre of the film by setting
a dark tone for the rest of the
film.
This is achieved from the
music’s slow tempo, high pitch
and interesting melody.
4. Genre: Soundtrack
As the music progresses through the opening, the
piano gives a sad melody making the audience feel
sympathetic towards the protagonist which hooked
the audience in and made them want to find out what
happened and how according to feedback.
5. Narrative
The final addition to the soundtrack shows hope
for the protagonists as it starts as soon as he
stands up telling the audience non- verbally that
the protagonist is not giving up even if the case
has been closed which has just been mentioned
in the shot previous to this.

We were purposely ambiguous
about what has precisely
happened to our main
character within the opening to
keep our audience gripped and
wanting to know what has
happened.
We gave small clues through
dialogue and props but we did
not want to give away too
many clues otherwise the
answer would be obvious and
the audience may not enjoy
the experience as much.
