2. DEVELOPING MY PITCH IDEA
• I have decided that my trailer will introduce just two characters – the protagonist –
who will be introduced first – will hold the authority over the trailer as that character
will have a voiceover that lasts the duration of the two minutes, on and off
• The characters, introduced separately, will have quite an intense view of life – which
will be explained through the voiceover – ABBY (1) will struggle with coming to terms
with the meaning of life whilst Elena (2) will be struggling with the terms of severe
depression hidden under a face that she portrays as having an attitude full of life -
mania
3. DEVELOPING THE PITCH IDEA 2
• I will emphasis both sides of the plots through close ups of the characters in different
locations, Elena with a rebellion to life, whilst Abby quite emotional - extreme close
ups
• The characters will meet each other where two shots will be shown of them interacting
with each other. No dialogue and a soundtrack will help add emphasis to the
relationship that they have with each other
• Rural locations will help suggest that they are alone together
• The characters will have an argument which will be hinted at through two shots,
dramatic pauses in the music and maybe the voiceover
• For the final part of the trailer, the disruption will be shown through split narratives
that hint at Abby waiting for Elena whilst Elena eventually commits suicide
4. TARGET AUDIENCE
• The target audience of teenagers will be appealed to through characters that subvert
common norms as it is a pop culture of modern day teens is to be independent.
• Themes such as suicide, depression and romance are all dramatic themes and they will
all appeal to a target audience that enjoy watching drama films
5. EDITS
• I will still chose to use montage editing and fade to blacks for dramatic effects that
create the idea of a story developing, I will vary length of shots to add emphasis to
particular points of the trailer and continuity editing will also be used to develop
certain plots
6. SHOTS
• Rapports with the different characters will be built through close ups, over the
shoulder shots and shots that track and move with the characters
• I will use a range of shots to add emphasis to themes, characters and different
locations
7. SOUND
• I have still chosen to use music that adds emphasis to the plot, for example an acoustic
instrumental will work well by incorporating a voice over as well as speeding up to
highlight plot lines and slowing down to build tension in the audience
• Diegetic sound will be used in the trailer such as a phone ringing to give the audience
the impression that they are within the scene
8. TITLE SCREENS
• Being a trailer, I will use conventional title screens such as actor names, film rating, film
names and quotes from reviews etc to sell the trailer to the selected target audience
• The same style and typography of title screens will also be used that I had previously
planned
