2. Indie Genre
The genre of my band is indie, therefore I have
focused my websites research on two indie
bands – The Artic Monkey’s and Two Door
Cinema Club, but when drafting my website I
have taken ideas from other indie bands
websites. I want people to go onto my website
and know straight away what genre band they
are looking at.
4. Black and White
When I was analyzing the Arctic Monkey’s
website I really loved the fact there entire
website was black and white, they stuck to one
simple theme. The background is black, the text
is white. This is something which I want to
replicate on my own site.
5. Menu Bar
The Arctic Monkey’s have a huge fan base, and
that is because there entire website is made to
keep the fans happy. I defiantly want to include
a gig section and a photo section on my menu
bar, so that fans can keep up to date.
6. Video on Welcome
On Indie band sites they often have a video pop
up before you enter the actual website, this is
something I would like to do on my own website
as it a great marketing technique for your latest
projects. This is a feature I noticed on the two
door cinema club website, but it is also featured
on several other websites.
7. Social Media Buttons
Social Media is key in our everyday lives, and it is
extremely important when building and
maintaining a relationship with fans, which is
why I need to include all the bands social media
pages on the website. Possibly near the front so
that it is clear to the fans they can keep up to
date with all the bands life.
8. Ways to Listen
The biggest part of a band is the music so it is
necessary that on the front or clear in some
aspect that you can listen to music, whether it
be previews of new music or old albums or even
snippets of old albums. As long as there is some
feature that allows you to listen to the bands
music.
9. Merchandise
The key to being a successful band is the ability
to sell merchandise and sell tickets. So the need
for a merchandise section is key. It is also key
that the merchandise matches, that there is a
consistent theme to make the website look as
official as possible.
