1) Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technology uses modulation techniques to transmit data over copper telephone lines at high speeds. It relies on devices such as DSL modems, DSLAMs, and splitters. 2) Newer technologies like VDSL2 have increased speed by using wider frequency ranges. Fiber optic connections can provide even higher bandwidth through technologies like passive optical networks (PON). 3) DSL standards have continued evolving, with improvements like lower power consumption, seamless rate adaptation, and the replacement of ATM with Ethernet over copper. These advances have allowed DSL to deliver higher speeds for internet, video, and other data services.
