Committee Reports:
Curriculum
After submitting the Fall Class Schedule in late May, I took the summer off. Now that Fall
Registration is quickly approaching on September 8th, I guess it is time to get back to work
planning the Spring classes.
I’m counting on current committee members to stay on board for another season. But it is not
an exclusive committee, we accept any ALL members that have ideas and interests in being part
of the behind-the-scenes planning. Invite your friends to participate in the Curriculum
committee. Start thinking about classes now, make note of your ideas. Class ideas can come
from many sources. Multipart programs need to be put on the calendar first!
Let’s plan on getting together for a short kick-off meeting at 10:00am on Tuesday, August 21st in
the regular classroom, HSC 106. Bring those ideas and let’s get started. This date gives you a
few more weeks to get Summer out of your system. Be sure and mark your calendar for
Tuesday, August 21st.

Events – Nothing to report
Cheryl called for a planning meeting to be held immediately following the August advisory
board meeting (August 15, noon) to discuss the activities for Fall registration.
Heritage Liaison – No report
Communication and Membership
Gene reports that we have 677 members at the current time. I show 135 non-current contacts
and 540 current contacts in addition to 10 guests for a total of 685. We continue to provide
communications support for the Library LIFE and Cinema WOW programs as well as for the
college administration. Due to some changes, including personnel, several ARTS programs have
been canceled this summer so there have been no announcements about them.
Respectfully submitted: Donn Peterson
Outreach
Church Without Walls has requested that we send someone to their August 4 open house.
Instead, we will send brochures and schedules when they are available. Evelyn Carrington
volunteered to drop off class schedules to two libraries she visits.
Reported by Connie Nelson
Publicity – No report
Cheryl said that we will need an announcement sent to newspapers for the Fall registration.
Meet You There
The May 19, 2012 Meet You There at the Purple Elephant had zero in attendance.
I originally had a couple of RSVP's who had to cancel at the last minute. I went over there
anyhow in case anyone showed up without an RSVP, and no one else came.
Due to this, in the future I will state that if an RSVP is not made when requested we will have
no way to contact people in the case of a cancellation for whatever reason, weather, no
interest etc.
The June 18, 2012 Meet You There at the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts was cancelled as
there were no RSVP'S and Donna cancelled the event due to lack of interest. Nothing happened
with the July 16 movie date.
FUTURE DATES FOR 2012:
August 13, Monday-Movie and lunch TBD (That is also a bus trip date)
3. August 25, Saturday-Lunch and Bluegrass Jam at Kreb Woods Nature Center
Future Ideas: Tour of the Iglooo plant
Tour of the TWRC Wildlife Center
Soap Box Derby
Culinary Lunch at CYFAIR High School
Tour of Cypress Top
Tour to one of the Consulate's in town
Bowling and lunch at Willie's Icehouse
EVENTS AND DATES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE
Additional Items
Fall registration will be held on Saturday, September 8 from 9AM to noon. Volunteers need to
arrive well before 9 AM. Everyone will need to re-enlist, pay the annual dues, and receive their
stickers. They may also sign up for bus trips and fee classes. At this time, how they will pay for
these is under discussion, but it will not be handled through our ALL account.
The Fall 2012 schedules have been printed. We will have 1200 copies to distribute, in addition
to those mailed out.
Lone Star College Cy-Fair has again requested volunteers to help with Fall student registration.
This will be held in the CASA building, beginning August 6th, Monday through Saturday, at the
information desk.
12:00 PM Adjourned
This meeting was adjourned at 12:00 PM. The next Advisory Committee meeting is scheduled
for Wednesday, August 15, 2012, in room HSC 106 at 11:15 AM.
