Academy for Lifelong Learning Advisory Committee

11:15 AM Call to Order
Cheryl LeJune called the meeting to order and welcomed members. There were no corrections
or additions to the March minutes.
Committee Reports:
Curriculum
Speaker Forms are now due for any classes you are working on. Please finalize whatever you
have pending and send me the forms no later than Friday afternoon. It only takes a few
minutes.....so please take the time and finalize things.
We still have a few open class slots as shown on the attached calendar. If you can work fast,
you can still schedule a class for those time periods. However, the deadline is Friday. We must
have time to pull the Info Sheets together and put the text into proper format for both printing
and building the classes.
Thanks for your assistance in planning curriculum. At this time I want current committee
members to recruit more assistance for this committee......we need some new bodies with new
ideas!!!

Bus Trips
Our bus dates for next six months are as follows:
Saturday, April 20: San Jacinto Day Festival
Wednesday, May 15: Shangri La Gardens, Stark Museum of Art, Stark Mansion
Thursday, June 6: Painted Churches
Thursday, July 25: Tours of Governor’s Mansion and Capitol Buildings; Bob Bullock
Museum of Texas History
Saturday, August 10: Liberty Opry House for a live show
Tuesday, September 10: Houston Museum of Natural Science
2. The sign up date for the July, August and September bus has yet to be decided.
This should be shortly after the Spring Schedule is over (ends on May10) so perhaps May 20 and
21 (Monday and Tuesday) in our regular classrooms (HSC 105&106). Noemi will need to check
on the availability of the rooms as the mini-mester is going on at that time on campus. Donn
will be given the information for the blog as soon as we have it confirmed. An alternative would
be the lobby in the CASA building.

Events – No report
Heritage Liaison
Susan borrowed the ALL table cloth/banner for a community event.
Communication and Membership
Gene reports that we remain at the 688 membership level.
I am still in the process of "tweaking" the ALL blog. The blog has a very real advantage when it
comes to getting the word out about last minute class changes or other breaking events on
campus.
As you know ALL will not be having classes this summer. It is my intent, at least for now, to
continue to maintain the blog in order to provide information of interest to our members about
other programs that will continue such as the LIFE program and Arts programs to name just a
few.
We do continue to carry information regarding other programs on the CyFair campus, including
this month, information regarding the campus-wide emergency.

Outreach
We have not been busy with any activities this month. In May we have been asked to attend an
event at Eagle's Trace by the Activities Director. We will bring the ALL brochures to that
Luncheon/meeting.

Meet You There
The April Meet You There was an invitation to attend the spring concert at the Northwood
Presbyterian Church on April 7, 2013 at 4:00pm. I personally could not attend due to my recent
surgery. I have not had any feedback from anyone who may have attended.
I am not planning a Meet You There for May. Evelyn Carrington has generously offered to take
over as chairperson for Meet You There starting this summer. I told her I will be glad to help in
any way I can.

Evelyn would also like a table for “Meet You There” along with the summer bus sign ups in May.
She is looking for suggestions for future outings. This could be added to the announcements in
the blog.
Additional Items
On-line Registration – Pat Chandler is working of testing for on-line registration for the Fall
semester. She will try to set aside just one registration/class title for all ALL classes. We may
have a “boot camp” on our campus this summer to teach members “how to” and work out
glitches.
Advisory Board Replacements - We need new workers on the ALL board. We are all busy and
have been doing this for many years. We need to recruit future replacements hard and heavy.
We are willing to train, and then in some cases assist those who would be willing to step up.
Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon – Advisory Board members should receive an invitation to
this annual event to be held on May 8. Please RSVP through Sarah.
Advisory Committee Meeting Invitation – In the future, we will send a courtesy invitation to
college president, Dr. Levy, to attend our Advisory Committee Meetings.
Meeting Change – Due to a bus trip scheduled for May 15, the next Advisory Committee
meeting will be changed from its usual schedule to May 22.
