    • Britain and the URSS forced Reza Shah to abdicate, because of his friendly relationships with Germany, and permitted Mohammad Reza to assume the throne.

    • He advocated reform policies, culminating in the 1963 program known as the  White Revolution , which included land reform, the extension of voting rights to women, and the elimination of illiteracy.

    • In the Islamic Revolution it had the role of overthrow the Shah of Iran
    • After overthrowed the Shah, it started the Islamic Republic.

    • A Islamic Republic took the power after the Shah was overthrow.
    • The lider of the new Republic was Ayatollah Khomeini, A religious lider.
    • He created a new Islamic regime, refusing all the western influence.

    • Diplomatic crisis between Iran and the United States
    • A grup of Islamits students and militars took over the American Embassy in support to the Iranian Revolution

    • The crisis started when the Shah went into exile to the United States
    • The students wanted him back to judge him for his crimes
    • The hostages were held at the Embassy for 444 days.
