1. Recce shots
All these shots have been taken from the different locations of my music video.
The images show the exact locations of my camera shooting.
My fist shot will be at my house at the pool, the camera drifts up toward the top
bedroom window. At then cuts to a shot of the singer in a mist of smoke with the
sun glaring though the window. The pool section has some meaning as it shows
moving water emphising that time always moves on and that life is cycle
Shot of pool section – involved in start section, and the house garden section.
Shot of house section – shown at the very start of the video after the pool.
I believe that this shot is important to show that there is sun shining on to the
house because if it went from the shot of the pool to the shot of jack in the
window I don think that would look right and the would be a missing link I feel
2. This shot is too show the concept and the link between what I am showing and
the meaning of the lyrics. Shot shows the sun in a clear sky shining though the
window. I took this shot to see what the effect would be like though a window
and what the camera recording might look like. So this shot was a demonstration
shot in reality.
This shot shows the effect of the sun though the window with smoke added in
the room. I believe it is a very good and positive effect to the video. I don’t
believe that I have been too literal in linking the lines of the song to the shots of
the video. I have been in some parts of the song very keen to link exactly to the
shots I will take in order to keep some meaning. In this shot I wanted to show
that the sun was gleaming but I think that I got the balance right in terms of how
much smoke I used because the smoke also relates.
This shot shows the house/study section which will form part of the
performance area along with two other places that will form the performance
part of the music video and the only places where the lip-sync will take place.
3. This picture is a shot of some open fields. I choose them to show the contrast
between the empty land and the built houses and roads that form the rest of my
music video structure. The only other place where I have tried to show a feeling
of emptiness and sorrow is the beach section. The whole point of the shot is to
show a sense of emptiness and loneness but also a look of reflection and calm
which links to the song and lyrics directly.
The beach section is a location that I had in mind from the very start of my
planning for this video. There will be many shoots that I will take in this location
including different camera angles and different distances away from the actors.
There will be two parts two this location one will be jack the actor walking down
the beach alone and the other walking enjoying an afternoon with his girlfriend.
The whole idea for this is the connection to the song talking about water and
rolling mists and the tide coming in.
4. This shot is of the street section. This is a very important part of the video and
something that I had a lot of ideas for, it also the one location where a lot of ideas
and planning keep changing and new ideas keep flowing, so it is definitely a very
open and dynamic location. One of the biggest points that I had to consider or
will consider in the planning of the street part is whether to have the shoot
recorded under LED street lighting or old halogen lighting both create
completely different effects and in turn changes the mood of what I want to
show. They both have there advantages and disadvantages and one is that the
LED beam angle is smaller than the halogen making the street light on the road
smaller and less bright but the LED gives a much colder feel witch is reflected in
the lyrics and cold air. I will use a small 10w LED light to show actors faces in
dark areas as street lighting does not cover certain points. Below the picture
shows the street in a halogen setting.
All of these locations will be part of my music video; some of them are quite
complex to film because of the nature of the location or the technical services
that I have planned for them. These pictures give an insight into the places I will
film and the shots that I can go for. The recce shots I believe are important
because they show other people and my self what different locations look like
though a camera lens and where I am going to shoot in the location and what will
be included.
