Good quality of work over the
whole research and planning but
not alot of detail in areas.
Construction Level 3
M: 45
Good shots of editing for
character titles, I felt that the
pace of the shot lengths were
too long and dragged, lighting
was fair at points.

There is a lot of detail, which
shows how aware they were of
the task.
Construction Level 4

The shots were okay, the editing,
sound track and angles of shots
were quite good.

Good points, not a lot of tasks
done well, not a lot of work but
the work is presented well.
Construction Level 3
M:35
Mise en scene was done poor,
there was a clash with a old and
new theme that didn’t work
well, E.g. The iPhone 5 clashed
with the old clocks. Good shot
types and lighting was near to
excellent.

Good detail, a lot of work clear &
presented.
Construction Level 2

Good opening, shows and
editing is poor on the fighting,
waste of time for the fight,
pointless cause the audience
don't care about the new
characters.
What Have I Learned?
I have discovered and analysis the ability to actually put shots types
and editing into effect so that I can use this on my own construction,
I have realised the importance of Mise En Scene is to a production, it
can create or kill a scene/atmosphere, this can be easily seen with
Louise’s opening scene, I felt that she wanted to create a detective
crime thriller and her first opening shots expanded on this with the
tilt shots of old clocks and classic furniture, even the sound
suggested this as well. Then the atmosphere of mystery is destroyed
by the modern phone. This creates a clash between old & new and
this leaves the audience feeling lost in the setting and atmosphere, I
should think more wisely when it comes to props in my opening
scene .
A repeating trend that I discovered was the clash between the
music and the narrators or actors voices, this creates a problem
because the audience can’t understand the narrator with the loud
music playing over. When this happens continually through-out the
scene then the audience loses all care about the plot and
characters, this can be shown with Louise’s as you can’t understand
the character while she is talking on the phone. In future I will
make sure that I use the right editing techniques to ensure that the
background music doesn’t clash with the characters.
3. Screen Shots
WWW (What Went
Well)
The use of editing was
used for the full effect of
the title screens for the
movie and characters,
the construction shown
many shot types like the
title screen tilt from the
blue sky to the house, I
also liked the time
period when the
characters enter the
house and it was sunset
and when they lefted it
was night, the I really
enjoyed how the
opening shot was also
the final shot to tie up
the scene.
EBI (Even Better If) Not enough shot
types, some
points became
boring because
of lack of
movement of the
camera. E.g.
Angles
4. WWW (What
Went Well)
The customers were
used well to show the
characters and there
lives, the music wored
wellwith the story and
opening scene, who
doesn’t enjoy a edgy
song? The shots and
the angles were used
effectively to create a
atmosphere and the
timing of the shots
were wisely picked.
Editing was good at
parts and help create a
better setting of the
movie.
EBI (Even
Better If)
I felt that the music
wasn’t used that well,
the stabbing scene
didn’t effectively work
with the music, it didn’t
sound dramatic enough
for the actual action,
again like the other
opening scenes there is
a clash of the voice and
music, I could hardly
hear or understand the
mugger’s narrate
5. WWW (What
Went Well)
The shots types in this
opening scene is on
point, combine this
with the great lighting
which creates a
mystery atmosphere ,
the camera angles are
thought out well to
make a good effect on
the audience, the
costume also conveys
a murder-criminal
genre.
EBI (Even
Better If)
Like I have said many
times before, the props
create a clash between
the timing and setting of
the movie, the iPhone 5
destroys all atmosphere
at parts and I felt that
the opening credits
scene which illustrates
the storyline is very large
and the audience will
become bored of that,
the classic show me
don’t tell me situation.
Screen Shots
6. WWW (What
Went Well)
The time-lapse at the
beginning of the opening
scene was perfect with the
music, it gave the setting to
the audience and type of
movie they’re about to
watch, the narrating was
good and gave us a sample of
the story to come, the editing
created a silhouette of good
and evil with the contrast of
black and white, this works
really well with the narrator.
EBI (Even Better
If)
The fight scene was very
poorly done, the shot types
were not varied at different
angles and the scene did drag,
the fight scene was also quite
pointless because the
audience doesn’t have a
emotional connection with
the characters so we the
viewers don’t care who dies
at this point, the narrating
quality was bad with a slight
echo in the background and
also the sound quality in the
fight scene was poor as well, a
little bit fuzzy.
