3. Masthead – the masthead at which I chose for
my magazine was “BASS!” because it
symbolise the Bass guitar used in most rock
bands and artists to create rock music. Plus my
target audience will clearly see that it is a rock
magazine as it would appeal to them
Colour Scheme – The colour scheme is of a
white background with black and red text, I
have chosen this colour scheme because it
match the genre of my magazine and other
magazines similar to mine such as NME, use
the same colour scheme. Thus meaning that
my target audience is likely to recognise that
this is a rock magazine.
Font Style – The font style at which I have
chosen for my writing matches the theme of my
magazine and does not have any fancy or
pretty font styles as it would not attract my
target audience and give the wrong look for my
magazine. For the masthead and key coverline
I have used “Colleged” from dafont.com which
is large and bold that
makes it stand out on a shop shelf attracting my target audience. For my other coverlines I have
chosen to uses MS San Serif font as it is easy to read and informal attracting my target
audience.
4. Front Cover Image – The image of my artist is positioned in the middle of the
front cover and giving eye contact to the reader making it look like he is in the
room. He is a young artist at which relates to my target audience which would
attract them to read my magazine. On his shirt as well it says “Ian Brown” who
is a famous rock artist which relates to the theme of my magazine and shows
people that this is a rock magazine.
Key Coverlines – I have placed my coverlines around the key cover image so
that it makes them noticeable to the reader. And the chosen coverlines at which
I have placed on my front page relate to the theme of my magazine attracting
my target audience
Banner – my banner at the top of the page says that this is one of the
bestselling music magazines in the UK attracting people to see why it is and
beneath my masthead it says “Bringing out the Rock” showing clearly to my
audience that this is a rock magazine.
Menu Strip – the menu strip at the bottom list bands and other articles within my
magazine because it list the bands at which they might like related to rock which
would attract my target audience.
6. Images Used – the three images at which I
have used to anchor a few of the featured
articles within the magazine would attract my
target audience as they have instruments
played by rock artist and the guys are young
which would attract my target audience as they
can relate to it.
Colour scheme – keeping the same colour
scheme from the front cover to keep
consistency and that rock feel throughout.
Editorial – the editorial section speaks on a
personal level to the reader making it seem
that the editor is speaking to the reader. It
gives the reader an insight in what is included
in my magazine and thanks the reader for
purchasing the magazine.
Features – the features within my magazine at
which I have chosen to put on my contents
page relate to the theme of the magazine and
has a competition to win two electric guitars
encouraging people to buy my magazine to
possibly win the competition.
Layout – the layout of the contents page is very easy to scan to find what the reader is
searching for within the magazine which would attract readers as they can easily find what they
are searching for.
8. Colour scheme – again I have kept the same colour scheme from the front cover to keep consistency and
that rock feel throughout.
Pull Quotes – I have used pull quotes to break up the text to make it look more appealing to the reader
and not look too long of an article. I also used pull quotes to highlight key points in the article, so that it
gives the reader the decision to read the article or not.
Images – the images at which I have used are there to make the article look more attractive and to break
up the text and back up the article in who is being interviewed. And my audience would like this as they
can see there favourite artist and cut out the images and use them as posters on their walls.
9. Extras – I have also include some tour dates at the end of the article to show when and where this
artist will be performing over the year, which my audience would like as they can then find out when
there favourite artist is nearest them so that they can go see them perform.
