June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Today we had a flight from the airport in Cracow to Paphos. When we
were there we took a photo. Then we went to eat lunch at the mall. After
dinner we went to see mosaics at Paphos. They were really impressive!
We saw the castle in Paphos which is registered at the UNESCO World
Heritage site. At the end we went to Petra tou Romiou where, according
to Greek mythology, Aphrodite was born. When we arrived at the school
our partners and their families took us and drove us home. It was an
interesting day. It was really exciting to meet my partner Marina!!!! She is
a great girl!

Today we visited the school. It is very large. The students also had
a long break. That day we built the LEGO robots. We cooperated in
international groups with our partners. After building the robot I
was on the lesson of Greek. After school I met up with a friend. It
was very hot so we ate ice creams.
4. 29th September
On that day we went by bus to Larnaca. We visited the
church and then we went to the MacKenzie's. We rent sun
loungers. I swam with the girls in the sea and looked for
seashells. Then we had lunch. We took a lot of pictures.
There are a lot of cats in Cyprus.
5. 30th September
Today I was in Chemistry class. The school has a special room for
chemistry. Today there was a special academy commemorating the
Cypriot Independence Day which we attended with the partners.
The representative of Polish Embassy was invited. Then, we had
classes with LEGO robots. We worked with Lego Engineering
projects. At 20:00 a group of Cypriot and Polish met in pizzeria.
We ate Cypriot food and we danced. One of the girls had a
birthday today. Everyone had a great time.
6. 1st October
Today there was the Independence Day of Cyprus.
Together with my friends we went to Ayia Napa. We
went there for about 2 hours. We were in a bar
overlooking the sea. The water was warm. I found
many pebbles and shells. We ate dinner and dessert.
We talked a lot with Marina. She helped me to choose
a few souvenirs for my family. Then we went home. It
was nice to spend free time together with my partner

main street and we were able to buy some more
souvenirs. In the afternoon we went back to school. We
gathered in the hall and were given diplomas and gifts .
This was very nice.

Today at 3 AM in the morning we went to Paphos for a flight back to Poland. We
said goodbye to the school and partners and off we went. I was very sad when I
had to say goodbye to my partner. I cannot wait to see her in Poland! The flight
passed well. When we arrived at our school our parents were already waiting for
us. I really enjoyed this trip. I met new people, made new friendships, visited
beautiful places and I had pleasant time there!
