The trip to Hungary provided an interesting and educational experience for the students. They travelled by train from Zagreb to Budapest, stopping to view Lake Balaton along the way. In Pusztamerges, they presented traditional Croatian dishes at a competition and placed fourth. The group toured the beautiful city of Szeged and visited an aqua park for fun. On the last evening, they had a big dinner and dance party to conclude the informative and enjoyable trip.

1. Trip to Hungary
The day of the trip came at last. We travelled by train from Zagreb Central Station on
Wednesday, March 19th
2014. The trip was relaxing although it took seven hours, and we
couldn’t wait to arrive at our destination. We stopped at many stations and even saw the Lake
Balaton, or how the Hungarians like to call it, their “sea”.
Finally, we arrived in the village Pusztamerges, about an hour and a half drive from Budapest.
The first day we presented our traditional Croatian dishes and we were all very nervous. But
we got over it soon. We also participated in a cooking competition and made Hungarian
gulash and pancakes, all by ourselves. We were placed forth!
The second day we went on a tour of the city called Szeged. The town was beautiful. I was
most impressed with the story about how all of the buildings were renovated after the great
flood that happened in the late 19th
century. After the tour we visited their Aqua Park. We had
a lot of fun there.
On the last evening we had a big dinner together and danced with everyone.
I really liked the trip. It was interesting, informative and fun.

2. Hungary was very interesting and educational.
On Wednesday at 9:30 am, we met at the Zagreb Central Station. We drove 7 hours by train
to capital city of Hungary, Budapest and then by bus to Puzstamerges. The landscape was
very beautiful. We saw the biggest lake in middle Europe-Balaton. It was really big.
We passed through Budapest, the capital city of Hungary. I liked Budapest’s architecture. It
was very similar to Zagreb. In Pusztamerges, I shared a room with girls from Spain and
Hungary. Very soon we became good friends. We had many similar topics to discuss about.
The next morning, after a delicious breakfast, we started to prepare for our presentation. We
were all under a lot of pressure and very nervous. After that it was time to cook gulash and
pancakes. It was a competition and we took fourth place. We were very proud of our dishes.
At the evening we visited the wine yard in Puzstamerges, and we played a quiz about foods
and drinks.
The next two days we spend visiting Szeged, going to the pool and the park. We tried a
Hungary speciality – fish stew. But, I didn´t like it. The last day we had a fantastic evening
and we had a wonderful time together. I would like to go again to another Comenius meeting.

My school trip to Hungary
Last week I went on a school trip to Hungary with my friends Ivan, Tomislav P., Tomislav K.
and Ana. Our teacher Dubravka Štiglić was with us. The trip was very long but when we
finally arrived at Pusztamerges High school, the dinner was served.
The next day we had our presentations about national cuisine and later a cooking competition.
On Friday we visited the nearby city of Szeged. It was beautiful. And on Saturday we spent
almost whole day in one of the most beautiful parks near Pusztamerges. At about 7 pm we
had our last dinner. Then there was party and we had a lot of fun dancing. I think it was a
great experience. I had a lot of fun and I learned some things about Pustamerges and Szeged.
Also, i improved my English, met a lot of nice people from different countries.
