3.  Didactic (10 -20%): Known in the education field as ‘chalk and
talk’, didactic modes involve traditional lecture style
lessons, providing learning experiences that focus on the
teacher as knowledge disseminator and that may rely heavily
on rote learning rather than higher order thinking.
 Active (30-50%): Active modes involve student driven and
student centred learning, with increased emphasis on
personal choice, multiple perspectives, teamwork, self-
discipline, critical thinking and self-responsibility. Teachers
acknowledge and utilise as a resource students pre-existing
knowledge, opinions and abilities, and facilitate and
encourage students to play a more active role in their
educational development.

4.  Discursive (30-50%): Discursive modes involve individual and
groups of students presenting their work to each other. Unlike
didactic styles of lesson delivery, discursive modes offer
greater room for peer-to-peer discussion, conversation and
questioning.
 Reflective: Reflective modes involve quiet time and
intrapersonal space for individual synthesis or ideas, thinking
and reflecting upon the various activities and potential
learning outcomes of the session.

5. PADLET is an online collaborative space within which you can
work with groups of people on brainstorming and the sharing of
ideas. It is free to use.
ACTIVITY: In your groups discuss the following question –
‘What is the biggest challenge in using computers in classroom
teaching?’
Please follow the link to PADLET on the workshop main page.
You will be taken to a PADLET wall there you must post your
challenge to the wall.
Then as a group you must provide an answer to the challenge
set by another group and write it on the PADLET wall.

6. Work individually, with a partner or in a group:
1. Design a simple in-class activity for a computer integrated
classroom – based on an example from one of your courses or
perhaps something you'd like to try in the future.
2. Write up the instructions for the activity and add it to a page in
the ePortfolio. You can embed videos, pictures or web pages if
you’d like.
3. Under the [GENERAL] tab above, choose [TEXT BOX] and drag it
to the eP page and release. You will then be prompted to edit
and save the text box which will then appear on this page as
part of a larger collection of ideas.
4. You’ll find the link to the ePortfolio page on the main workshop
page.
