Information. 
• Most company idents stay on the screen for up to 3 second 
and they usually appear within the first 10 seconds of the 
trailer. 
• The company ident for Mr and Mrs Smith is 20th Century Fox 
and the ident appears 3 seconds into the trailer.
The Usual Suspects- 0.04 seconds and appears for 3 seconds. 
Here are some examples of company 
idents for films of a similar genre to 
ours. They seem to appear before any 
actual film footage in the trailer. 
The Wolf of Wall Street- 0.06 seconds and appears for 
1 second. 
The Dark Knight- 0.08 seconds and appears for 3 
seconds.
Ident Design Research 
• Most of the idents we researched follow the same sort of 
colour theme. Most of them are blue/purple and some 
feature the name of the company in gold. 
• We quite like this look because it gives the impression that 
the company is very professional and formal. It gives the ident 
a slick appearance, and therefore portrays the film to have the 
same effect.
• Other idents follow a different colour scheme. 
Some have a black background with a bold 
picture in the middle. 
• This is also an effective look as the contrast of 
the black background and the gold foreground 
works intelligently to pursue a eye catching 
ident.
Inspiration 
We like the Dream Works ident because the 
image is a visual representation of the title. 
We also like this ident because of the animation 
of the ident. The lights flash around the title to 
emphasise its importance.
