  2. 2. Brief Background <ul><li>Camden has two libraries, Narellan and Camden </li></ul><ul><li>Population of 52,132 as at June 2007 </li></ul><ul><li>Overall, 30.5% of the population was aged between 0 and 17, and 12.0% were aged 60 years and over </li></ul><ul><li>17.1 EFT staff </li></ul>
  3. 3. Why partnerships? <ul><li>Our vision is to be a community hub </li></ul><ul><li>To achieve this vision it is imperative we work in partnership with a range of organisations </li></ul><ul><li>Attract new audiences to the library through programming and new partnerships </li></ul>
  4. 4. Community Services <ul><li>Work with Council’s Community Services Team </li></ul><ul><li>Seniors Week, Youth Week, Harmony Day, NAIDCO week </li></ul><ul><li>Attend their planning day </li></ul><ul><li>Attend festivals, storytime @ Camden Show </li></ul>
  5. 5. Road Safety Education <ul><li>Work in partnership with Council’s Road Safety Officer </li></ul><ul><li>Child Restraint Safety Checks in Library car park </li></ul><ul><li>NRMA Years Ahead Program – Road Safety for Seniors </li></ul>

Eco Literacy <ul><li>Work in partnership with Council’s Environment Education Officer/Team </li></ul><ul><li>Invite them to attend storytime, run a holiday program i.e worm farming </li></ul><ul><li>Edible gardens for families workshop </li></ul><ul><li>Backyard organics for families workshop </li></ul><ul><li>Photographic competition </li></ul><ul><li>Eco-friendly cards, wrapping and decorations workshop with kids </li></ul>

Cultivating Creativity in Camden <ul><li>Work in partnership with Council’s Cultural Development Coordinator </li></ul><ul><li>Artist of the month </li></ul><ul><li>Inconcert Series </li></ul><ul><li>Community Art workshops </li></ul><ul><li>Skills development – through Work for the Dole in digistising Oral Histories </li></ul>
  8. 8. Sowing Seeds, Growing Stories, Harvesting Families <ul><li>Storytime training for Family Day Care Carers </li></ul><ul><li>Welcome to parenthood talks in partnership with SWSAHS and Camden Community Connections </li></ul><ul><li>Making books with children aged 0-6yrs </li></ul>

Make your mark! <ul><li>Work in partnership with Youth Café Coordinator, Council’s CPO, Youth Agencies </li></ul><ul><li>Schools run Advanced Research Skills training to students and teachers </li></ul><ul><li>HSC Lock In – Uni students as tutors </li></ul><ul><li>Web design, short films </li></ul>

Make the most of your money! <ul><li>Work in partnership with Centrelink’s Free Financial Information Service topics include: </li></ul><ul><li>Understanding Shares </li></ul><ul><li>Getting Ready for Retirement – Age Pension and Your Choices </li></ul><ul><li>Running your Own Super Fund </li></ul>

Work with other libraries <ul><li>SLNSW conducted preservation training for local historians </li></ul><ul><li>Ellen from SLNSW conducted Roving Reference training </li></ul><ul><li>Conduct NSS @ Macarthur Square in partnership with Wollondilly & Campbelltown. Also Youth Summer Reading Program – to date we have over $900 in sponsorship for this program </li></ul>

Changing Face of Camden <ul><li>Work in partnership with Camden Historical Society and Camden Area Family History Society </li></ul><ul><li>Established a Flickr account to capture communities images of changing place/faces of Camden </li></ul><ul><li>Preservation workshops </li></ul><ul><li>Work with State Records on delivering Archive Investigator Training </li></ul>
