The front cover of the magazine features a close-up shot of the main artist to instantly recognize them and draw readers in. It uses a simple layout to make elements stand out. The contents page continues the blocked information style and includes the artist image on the left with section titles and descriptions to entice reading. The double page spread matches the main article title to the artist photo, such as a solo artist shown in three places to highlight loneliness, and places the text on the right page for balanced density while keeping a block format and blank space.
3. Front Cover
• I chose my masthead to say “DIP” which stands for “Die In Pop”. This refers
to the artists of the music genre dedication to the production of their
music, it is also an anagram of Indie Pop.
• Because of this being the masthead, I wanted the overall layout of the front
cover to be quite simple and fairly plain. With the page being fairly plain, it
allows features on the page to stand out more than they would have if the
page was busy.
• I close a close up shot of the models face so that readers would be able to
instantly recognise who in featured in that issue of the magazine. Which
could possibly then make them more likely to buy the magazine.
• I wanted to include a common convention of magazines and have a left
hand third on my front cover, I decided this so that readers could easily find
information about the contents of the magazine like they would with other
magazines.

5. Contents Page
• In the contents page, I continued the theme of having my information in a
block, this is something that I would carry on throughout my entire
magazine.
• I would have my information and writing on the right hand side of the
page, leaving space on the left hand side for an image of the artist featured
on the front cover.
• I decided to split my contents page into sections and show this by giving
each section an appropriate title, such as “This Week”, “Year Reviews”, etc.
• I’d like to include small things on my contents page to urge the reader to
continue reading by using titles to grab their attention such as the
subscription offer.
• Under the image on the page will be a slightly longer description of the
article than is offered for the other page numbers on the page, this is due
to the image being linked to the main article of that issue of the magazine.

7. Double Page Spread
• On my double page spread, I want the main title of the article to link in
with the picture of the artist on the page. For example, in my drawn page, I
have the title being “Me, Myself & I” this corresponds with the fact that
the artist is a solo artist, however the images show the model in 3 places at
the same time. This may be able to highlight that being a solo artist could
be lonely and isolating.
• I had the article on the artist located on the right hand page of the double
page spread, this is because I kept in mind that I didn’t want one page to be
more dense with images and information than the other one, and because
the left hand page has the title in big letters, I thought the right hand page
was a better location for the text. I also again followed my theme of having
all of my information in a block format.
• On my page, I would like to keep a certain amount of blank space, this is
because it continues on the thought of the isolation that the artist is
experiencing.
