SEO is a commodity on personal blogs. Use WordPress and you’re off to a great start.
Pick a short and quick URL structure
Add plugins like: All in One SEO Pack, Broken Link Checker, Google XML Sitemaps and you’re flying.
Find something you like to write about and find a way to write about it often.

Go with 300x250 banners rather than 125x125. Tenancy deals are too rare.
Don’t add any affiliate banners to your site directly; go via OpenX or alternative.
Sign up to the likes of eBuzzing, Unruly Media and GoViral
Sign up to Skimlinks (Europe) or Viglinks (US)

Avoid starting a new domain
Link to your product pages appropriately
Take part in the community
Allow comments
Comment on other blogs but say who you represent!

Speed is a reason to have a corporate blog. Make sure you can blog quickly.
Buying content or copywriter time is not the same as blogging; blogging is more closely tied to community.
Think carefully about comments and moderation – always go with post-moderation.
