Post-structuralism and deconstruction provide a new approach to interpreting language and narratives by recognizing that meaning is never stable and constantly deferred. The concept of differance emphasizes that meaning is constructed through differentiation and that identity depends on outside influences. According to post-structuralism, the relationship between inside and outside is mutually dependent, and meaning is continually postponed through an endless process of signification.
