The document compares the industrialization of 18th century Great Britain to modern industrialization in China. Some key similarities include:
1) Dangerous working conditions in coal mines that resulted in many deaths in both Great Britain and China.
2) Low wages paid to both adult male and female workers in Great Britain and China.
3) Exploitation of child labor in factories and mines in both countries, which negatively impacted children's health.
4) Severe environmental pollution from industry that contaminated the air and water and increased disease in Great Britain and China.

Industry repeating it selves
Industry, by hearing this word most people would thought of ‘Factories’ as the meaning.
What about the word ‘Pollution’ or ‘Globalization’ or ‘Death’ or others, can this be the deeper
fact inside the industry? Chinese People, who is the greatest cause of industrialization,
comparing to the Great Britain causes of the industrialization during the 18th century shows the
similarity of each. The effects of industrialization today in China are similar to industrialization
of eighteenth century in Great Britain, such as changes in family role, and environmental issues.
Have you ever wondered how the adult role in the society effect the living, the reasons
is very simple, in their work adult always risked getting to in dangerous situation like lung
disease meanings breathing air full of coal dust, and other, causing them to work at risked
(student information 2.2B: Conditions in the coal mines) similar to the Chinese coal miners
were killed in explosions, shaft collapse and floods with 6995 people dead. Other than that the
wages that gains in Great Britain which is low wages. Man = 10 to 15 shillings per week. Women
= 5 shillings per week, compare to the wages in China are quite the same (Student information
2.2B Working conditions and Wages; Zhang Ye.)
As mention adult weren’t the only one that suffer during early industrialization Great
Britain and China. One more group that more than suffered is Child Labor. Children works in
textile factories and coal mines are similar to Chinese people whom work in factories, toy
production, textiles, construct, food production and light mechanical work. This group of
children some work to gain money for school fee, and some work to gain money for family.
Other than that the children are also suffered in the area of Health care, both China and Great
Britain have the children work in a dangerous place such as coal mines or factories with
machine, which in the end cause them to sick from dusty air, and an accidents over with
machines, (Student information 2.2B: Child Labor.) As a result Reporter in both States held and
2. investigations to find out the condition of children workers. “Suppose you flagged [slowed
down] a little, or were too late, what would they do? Strap [beat] us” this quote is telling how
the owners of each factory act toward the children. Overall these ideas have shown the act of
factories owner toward the child, this shows the effect of the industrialization clearly in the
area of violence and punishment. (Student information 2.2b: Child Labor)
Lastly, the environmental issues that happen in every single state, which is easy to be,
predict that the causes are ‘Pollution.” Pollution from Coal mine that “blackened the air”, and
“poisoned Manchester’s Irwell River” are similar to the industry of China that polluted dirty air
and “choking its people” (Elizabeth C. Economy). Also the impact of Pollution that causes the
“deadly disease cholera [to] swept through the slums” are eventually the same problem with
China that have deserve weather disasters, acid rain, desertification, or crop damage from soil
pollution (Elizabeth C. Economy).
Therefore, these effects on industrialization today in China are similar to
industrialization of eighteenth century in Great Britain due to the fact that the problems that
occurs is like the history is repeating it selves. Industry that happens in China’s is most likely to
be repeating the same thing again as history, but if we can solve the problem now, everything
would be better. So lastly, this industrialization in China is similar to the Great Britain because
of the fact that there are still people suffering, this problem will still go on.
